Try copying /var/qmail/control/me to /var/qmail/control/defaultdomain but I don't think that will fix it... is myhost.mydom.or.jp supposed to be valid? Also, have you tried turning on all vpopmail logging options? >> Please post the output of /var/qmail/bin/qmail-showctl, that'll help >> me find your problem. > > Thanks. Hello.. And again , the scenario repeats -> i write something about the patch. Ken says that there is something missing I say - it's in the distribution. And the discussion dies -> nobody from inter7.com ries to access the home page of the patch (i've checked logs) and i get no reply.. I'm not feeling, i'm treated seriously. File Error 6 (qmailadmin)
Hi, I am getting a "File Error 6" problem randomly in qmailadmin. I can login fine, but from then on the error pops up when I go into any of the other pages. Mail Problem
Hi, I am pretty new to vpopmail, and current we just setup a new mail server. The scenario is as such. We have man user, eg support, support-mac, support-linux etc ... each of the mail account has it's own .qmail file. However, the problem is as such. when someone send a mail to eg support-error whereby this user doesnt exist, the mail is being send to support instead. How can i configure qmail such that if the email account does not exist, it should bounce the mail instead of sending it to support?? Thanks Johnny

Re: RELAY CLIENT
What? roaming-users works great, and it's much better than trying to hack around on different ports trying to hide the smtp server. There is no way I would rely on the sender envelope and expect to have a halfway decent smtp server running. - Original Message - From: "Rene Schleicher" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, May 14, 2001 9:22 AM Subject: Re: RELAY CLIENT Wagner <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > How can i turn an user or a domain to be a relay client with his/her name > and not with his/her IP ? 1 - Don't enable roaming-users in vpopmail 2 - read http://www.palomine.net/qmail/relaymailfrom.html, but it's *NOT* secure. moving vpopmail
I assume I won't have a problem, but if I move the vpopmail home dir, to /usr/home and create a link of /home/vpopmail to /usr/home/vpopmail, will it work correctly? or do I have to redo vpopmail - Dave Ellsworth Nickname: DaveE or MasterJedi
Re: moving vpopmail
Using a symlink is very inefficient. You would probably want to change the home directory of the vpopmail user, and re-compile. Re: RELAY CLIENT
No. What he wants is to be able to consistently send his email without problems, and he THINKS that the best way to do it is to allow relay based on sender address. I believe that most maier programs can be setup to pick up email immediately uppon connect. If you can get outlook to do this, then his subsequent send will work properly and his problem will be solved.. I don't use outlook, s o I can't comment on this process directly. Does anybody out there know how to get outlook to do a retrieve-before send? Given that many SMTP servers do authentication via pop, I figure that outlook should know how to manage this. rene wrote: > > "Jim Hamann" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > What? roaming-users works great, > I know.. but he want SMTP relaying based on envelope > sender address. qmailadmin alternative
Are there any qmailadmin alternatives written in Perl or PHP? Something like oMail-admin for vmailmgr? Thanks, Ed.

The POP-authenticated address are ADDED to the list -- temporarily. It seems to be a well-tested solution (for obvious reasons). Re: off topic: backup
Good Morning: Thanks everybody for the help, i did the backup and it worked fine Thanks Wagner Garcia Campagner- Original Message - From: Alfredo Hassaf To: Wagner ; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, May 11, 2001 2:58 PM Subject: RE: off topic: backup OK, I dont know if this is the best way to do the backup but it works for me. 1.- Do tar -cvf domains.tar /home/vpopmail/domains (if home directory of vpopmail is that one) 2.- If you change machine or reinstall qmail and components youll need to copy the control files that allow users to sign up so... 2.1 tar -cvf control.tar /var/qmail/control 2.2 tar -cvf users.tar /var/qmail/users If you reinstall qmail in a fresh machine untar the files and copy them into the right location... The results are this.. All mail tared in domains.tar will be restored and the users too. The "control" directory will restore all your virtual domains, rcpthosts and your local information so every thing will work as before The "users" directory will restore the "assign" file wich is the one that controls the virtual domains and the users who can access them For last but not less if the machine is a fresh instalation you must be sure of doing these The assign file contains the user id and group id of the vpopmail user so if you do a cat /var/qmail/users/assign youll see something like this +domain.com-:domain.com:508:503:/home/vpopmail/domains/domain.com:-:: Where 508 is the user id and 503 is the group id of vpopmail user Then do id vpopmail in the command line and you should see something like this uid=508(vpopmail) gid=503(vchkpw) groups=503(vchkpw) If the user id and group id of vpopmail user is not the same in the assign file then the users WONT BE ABLE TO LOGIN If this situation applies to you then just edit the assign file and correct it.. RELAY CLIENT
Good Morning: I'm using Qmail+Vpopmail+Qmailadmin+Sqwebmail The problem is: there is a user who is using Outlook Express to get his messages from Qmail. So he conect with his internet provider and get an IP to get the messages, then he wants to cut the connection to write his messages and reconect again to send them, so when he reconects, he gets another IP and there is an authentication problem. How can i turn an user or a domain to be a relay client with his/her name and not with his/her IP ? Thanks in advance Wagner Garcia Campagner

Wagner, Since you\'re using vpopmail. You can try to put the POP before SMTP authentication mechanism. Compile vpopmail with \"--enable-roaming-users=y\" option and just run your tcpserver with a \"-x /home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb\" flag. Read vpopmail manual for more info abou pop before smtp. And beware your users to check mail before sending ANY message at your server. Send private messages if you like (may be in portuguese). I think he is doing this but the user disconnects and reconnected with a new IP. you can't do anything about it. just have them check before sending. -davidu On Mon, 14 May 2001, Eduardo Augusto Alvarenga wrote: > > I\'m using Qmail+Vpopmail+Qmailadmin+Sqwebmail > > > > The problem is: there is a user who is using Outlook Express to get his > > messages from Qmail.
