[Bug 291760] Re: network-manager roams to (none) ((none))

2009-05-01 Thread dhd
Hi, unfortunately, this patch does not entirely fix my problem. I'm
seeing roaming to (none) ((none)) less frequently, but it is still
happening. Likewise I still have between 10 and 45% packet loss due to
gratuitous roaming every 3-10 seconds. Another example:

[Bug 291760] Re: network-manager roams to (none) ((none))

2009-05-16 Thread dhd
I worked around this bug by installing wicd. People should stop saying
that it is a kernel or driver bug, or a wpa_supplicant bug. It is a
NetworkManager bug, because wicd does not have this problem.

In the specific case where I see it, which is a campus network with
hundreds of access points, wicd shows me all the separate access points
but doesn't roam between them gratuitously. I get 35-40% packet loss
with NetworkManager and 0-1% packet loss with wicd.

I'm really amazed that the upstream developers are either not aware or
don't want to fix this!

Even more ridiculous is that in the SCIM control panel, it doesn't list
Shift-Space as one of the hotkeys! Only Ctrl-Space.

Am I just missing something here? How can this bug be "fixed"?

I ended up disabling SCIM entirely with 'sudo im-switch -z all_ALL -s

Yeah... I'm sorry, once I saw the text that comes up when you try to
change this bug's status, I realized what the problem was.

On the computer which has the problem, I had updated to Hardy slightly
before the official release, so I got the broken SCIM setup, and
subsequent updates were not able to fix it.

Can someone verify that SCIM doesn't use Shift-Space when you do enable
it?

[Bug 196277] Re: [hardy] keyboard layout switching shortcut doesn't work after reboot

2008-07-22 Thread dhd
Hi, I haven't yet checked to see if anything in -proposed fixes it (I
tried the new gdm, which doesn't).

However, I can confirm Peter Hutterer's explanation for the bug. It's
really easy to verify. Just do this:

 1) Enable autologin
 2) Go to the console and run sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart
 3) While gdm is starting up, press a lot of random keys. Don't stop until you
see the GNOME panel appear.
 4) Voilà! (hey, my compose key works)

[Bug 199059] Re: [Hardy] Thinkpad X31 (ATI Radeon M6) suspend backlight on

2008-05-15 Thread dhd
Hi,

I filed a bug in a totally unrelated package (since I don't really know
how suspend/resume works these days), but it turns out that I had this
same problem, because I have YET ANOTHER wacky X31 model number!
Mine is:

  system.hardware.product = '28854WU'  (string)

I changed the appropriate line in
/usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop/20-video-quirk-pm-ibm.fdi
to read:

And, after rebooting, suspend seems to work correctly.

[Bug 222653] Re: Compose key forgotten between sessions.

2008-07-17 Thread dhd
I've confirmed this bug on Hardy on both amd64 and i386. It seems to be
related to automatic login.

If I set my laptop to automatic login, then reboot, the compose key
settings are not active after startup.

If I then log out and then log in manually, the compose key settings
work again.

You should be able to reproduce this with these steps:

 1) Go to the login window admin utility (i.e. gdmsetup)
 2) Go to the "Security" tab and enable automatic login
 3) Reboot
 4) Notice that your compose key no longer works (e.g. typing Compose-' e in a
terminal or a text box will give you 'e)
 5) Log out
 6) Log in
 7) Notice that your compose key works again (e.g. typing Compose-' e in a
terminal or text box will give you é)

Hi, I found four more duplicates of this bug.

I am willing to try my hand at tracking it down if someone can inform me
exactly which GNOME component is the one which attempts to apply
keyboard settings on login. Is it gnome-settings-daemon?

I should note that the upstream bug report says "this has nothing to do
with libxklavier - xkb reports settings are applied when xinit is used,
when they really aren't"

[Bug 196277] Re: [hardy] keyboard layout switching shortcut doesn't work after reboot

2008-07-17 Thread dhd
Never mind, I have traced it into libxklavier.

The problem is, those "NOT resetting the cache" error messages are a red
herring. I hacked libxklavier to always reset the cache on
XkbNewKeyboardNotify, and it doesn't make any difference.

The settings are not being applied for some other reason. I did set
XKL_DEBUG to 999 and found one interesting difference. When I have
autologin on, .xsession-errors contains this:

[1216339029,200,xklavier_xkb.c:xkl_xkb_load_all_info/] found 1 groups
[1216339029,200,xklavier_xkb.c:xkl_xkb_load_all_info/] Group 0 has name [USA]

Whereas, when I log in explicitly, it contains this:

[1216347662,200,xklavier_xkb.c:xkl_xkb_load_all_info/] found 2 groups
[1216347662,200,xklavier_xkb.c:xkl_xkb_load_all_info/] Group 1 has name [USA]
[1216347662,200,xklavier_xkb.c:xkl_xkb_load_all_info/] Group 0 has name [-]

I don't know much about xkb so I'm not sure what this "-" group is or
where it came from.

[Bug 196277] Re: [hardy] keyboard layout switching shortcut doesn't work after reboot

2008-07-17 Thread dhd
One more data point here to consider. When I have autologin on, and I
run 'setxkbmap -print', it actually does show the options which were set
by libxklavier:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ setxkbmap -print
xkb_keymap {
xkb_keycodes  { include "xfree86+aliases(qwerty)"   };
xkb_types { include "complete"  };
xkb_compat{ include "complete"  };
xkb_symbols { include
"pc+us+level3(ralt_switch_for_alts_toggle)+group(alts_toggle)+compose(rctrl)"
};
xkb_geometry  { include "pc(pc101)" };
};

However, these options have not actually been set in the server! As
everybody else mentioned, running setxkbcomp with no options (which
actually compiles the description and loads it into the server) makes
these settings active. This is equivalent to running:

setxkbmap -print | xkbcomp - :0

These options aren't stored in any configuration file, so setxkbmap
*must* be getting them from the X server somehow, right? And yet, for
some reason, the server knows about the uncompiled form of the keyboard
description but hasn't actually loaded it...

[Bug 196277] Re: [hardy] keyboard layout switching shortcut doesn't work after reboot

2008-07-17 Thread dhd
The libxklavier author is correct, this is not a bug in libxklavier. It
does everything exactly as it should, and calls XkbWriteToServer() to
set the new keymap, and checks its return value. I have verified this.

The problem is that XkbWriteToServer() is failing silently, for no
apparent reason, during startup when autologin is enabled (or, it seems,
when GNOME is started via xinit). And yet it works just fine once
everything has settled down.

I conjecture that the reason it works with manual login is because in
that case, the X server has completely started up well before the point
where GNOME tries to apply keyboard settings.

Maybe moving gnome-settings-daemon later in the startup sequence would
fix this? I'm revealing my ignorance of how GNOME actually starts up
here...

[Bug 196277] Re: [hardy] keyboard layout switching shortcut doesn't work after reboot

2008-07-18 Thread dhd
Okay, that makes perfect sense, except that it's not at all clear if
it's possible to change the XKB layout for a specific device. It's
something that, in the new age of MPX, really ought to be possible, but
from what I understand, it would require XKB to be aware of XInput and
multiple devices, which I don't think is the case (see
http://www.fooishbar.org/talks/fosdem-xkb.pdf).

I suppose that what we could do is have libxklavier recopy the XKB
layout to the server every time it gets an XkbNewKeyboardNotify event.
Which, ironically, is more or less the opposite of what it currently
does (it updates its cache from the server's information when it gets
this event - this is the source of those "red herring" messages above).

In my case this is a very large campus-wide network with hundreds of
access points. For some time I believed that the problem was related to
specific access points but it seems to happen pretty much everywhere on
campus at this point. The operations people say that while the amount
of traffic on the wireless network has increased somewhat in the last
year, they aren't seeing roaming problems or massive packet loss (I am
getting about 30% on average due to this problem) like this, at least,
not on Windows or Mac OS X.

I strongly suspect network-manager is to blame, and as I mentioned,
upgrading from Hardy to Intrepid has only made the problem worse - where
before it would randomly roam to a different access point, now it roams
to (none) and back. Something in its logic that makes it decide when to
switch access points (an action which I'm pretty sure is under the
control of userspace and not the driver!) is broken.

Yes, for me, fixing the BSSID in the connection editor seems to work, as
one might expect, since it prevents the gratuitous roaming.

[Bug 76011] Re: Keyboard Indicator applet does not show correct text after a second login

2007-05-10 Thread dhd
Hi, I have exactly the same problem, on an installation of Feisty
upgraded from Edgy, upgraded from Dapper. The keyboard-indicator was
showing 'us' instead of 'USA' and I got the dialog box when trying to
open keyboard-properties. If I stop evolution-data-server and all other
evolution crap before I log out and log back in, the problem goes away.

In fact, it seems that this also affects my ability to use the
drivemount-applet. I tried about 5 times add it to the panel without
any success, but then after killing Evolution and logging out and back
in, I had 5 drivemount applets waiting for me!

And, it wasn't detecting my portable music player properly in Rhythmbox,
but now it is.

IMHO Evolution should be an optional part of the Ubuntu desktop. It's
not as functional an e-mail client as Thunderbird, and Google Calendars
is a lot more useful as a calendar. But that's just my opinion.

[Bug 76011] Re: Keyboard Indicator applet does not show correct text after a second login

2007-05-10 Thread dhd
More data points:

I am not able to replicate this by creating a new user, starting
Evolution, adding drivemount and keyboard applets, logging out and back
in again. Everything works fine. So there must be some random crud in
my GConf registry that is ultimately causing this problem.

If I start Evolution again as my regular user, then log out and back in
again (causing evolution-data-server to be added to my session), then
the problem reappears. The keyboard indicator is wrong and the
drivemount-applet doesn't start.

Let me know if there is anything in particular that I should run strace
on, or any part of GConf I should be looking at...

[Bug 146135] eog doesn't add newly created files to slideshow

2007-09-27 Thread dhd
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

This is eog 2.20.0-0ubuntu1, in gutsy.

I'm using eog to play a slideshow of images captured from a digital
camera. However, when my capture code moves images into the slideshow
directory (using os.rename() in Python), eog does not add them to its
list of images.

This was GNOME bug #479400:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479400

The patch is in the GNOME Subversion repository, I recommend applying it
to the Ubuntu package:

[Bug 227497] [NEW] single clicks interpreted as double clicks on thinkpad x31

2008-05-06 Thread dhd
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Release: Ubuntu 8.04
Package Version: 1:7.3+10ubuntu10
Expected to happen: Clicking the pointer button on menus makes them drop down
and stay down. Clicking in text fields moves the pointer.
Actually happens: Clicking on menus makes them flash down and back up.
Clicking in text fields selects words. Clicking on window title bars maximizes
them. Etcetera (i.e. single clicks are acting as double clicks)

Since I upgraded my Thinkpad X31 to Hardy Heron from Gutsy Gibbon,
single clicking the mouse button results in a double click, which makes
the GUI very hard to use! My xorg.conf doesn't have anything weird in
it, but I've put it at http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dhuggins/xorg.conf for
reference purposes.

If I run xev and click on the xev window, I get this output:

ButtonPress event, serial 27, synthetic NO, window 0x3c1,

Strangely enough, the GDM menu seems to work fine.

[Bug 128795] Re: [Gutsy] bluetooth device goes away after suspend or hibernate

2008-05-09 Thread dhd
Hi, I'm having this same problem, although it is on a desktop.
Hardy/amd64, using a D-Link USB bluetooth module.

It's slightly improved from Gutsy, because on Gutsy, running
/etc/init.d/bluetooth restart would not fix it and I had to reboot. On
Hardy, this makes the device work again (at least insofar as the gnome-
bluetooth icon comes back, and 'hcitool scan' works instead of saying
"Device is not available: No such device")

[Bug 229301] [NEW] Suspend fails to power off display on Thinkpad X31

2008-05-11 Thread dhd
Public bug reported:

Release: Hardy (8.04 LTS)
Version: 2.6.24.16.18
Expected: Screen powers off when suspend is requested
Actually happened: Suspend happens, but backlight remains on. On resume,
various error notifications appear such as "failed to suspend" or "policy
action unavailable".

I've always had some trouble with S3 suspend/resume on my X31.
Sometimes it fails to come back from suspend, which I think might
coincide with having suspended it while still on AC, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, I now have a different and much more reproducible problem,
namely that S3 suspend seems to work okay, except that it fails to power
off the display. The machine appears to go to sleep but the backlight
is clearly still on, which kind of defeats the purpose of suspending ;-)

I've attached a dmesg from a suspend-resume cycle. These are probably
the relevant lines...

However, It does seem to work on a different X31 (2672-JAU) with both
2.6.20-15 and 2.6.20-16, same card. The only hardware differences
between the two machines as far as I can tell are that the working
machine has a 1.4GHz processor and 1.25GB of RAM whereas the non-working
one has a 1.7GHz processor (same stepping, both are Pentium M Banias)
and 768MB of RAM.

Maybe it is some kind of subtle timing issue... Another thing to note
is that the non-working machine was booted without AC power, so it was
running at 600MHz.

Hmm, I tried to send this via e-mail and it didn't show up here. No,
it's not in the MODULES="" section. Unfortunately, though, if I add it
there, the problem doesn't go away.

[Bug 291287] Re: ubiquity crashed with RuntimeError in progress_loop()

2010-01-08 Thread dhd
I was reinstalling 9.10 from CD when I got this. I actually noticed
that my previous (upgraded) 9.10 system was very unstable until I added
"noapic" to the kernel command line. Perhaps this is related to that
problem.

[Bug 507243] Re: Fresh install of Karmic locks up hard when using browser and listening to music

2010-01-18 Thread dhd
This bug, and a variety of other stability related issues, seem to be
fixed in Lucid. And, specifically, updating to the Lucid kernel
2.6.32-10 packages also fixes them in Karmic for me.

Note that I still have stability issues when using 2.6.32 mainline from
the PPA.

[Bug 359653] Re: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 61s! [hald-addon-stor:3486]

2010-01-18 Thread dhd
I haven't experienced this problem since doing two things:

 1) Switching to a SATA hard drive with a separate controller card. However,
this just caused my machine to lock up randomly without printing any useful
messages...
 2) Upgrading my kernel to 2.6.32-10 from Lucid. This has (so far, knock on
wood) fixed all of my hanging and stability issues.

I think there is something very wrong with 64-bit 2.6.31 on older AMD
processors and VIA chipsets, from the sounds of it...

[Bug 516585] [NEW] firefox crash with SIGSEGV in nsFrameManager::ReResolveStyleContext

don't know if this is repeatable, but I was scrolling in Google Maps

[Bug 529337] [NEW] Hangs for a long time when editing labels on large files

2010-02-27 Thread dhd
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: audacity

How to trigger this bug:

 1) Create a fairly long audio file (in this case 45 minutes)
 2) Create a label track with a bunch of long labels in it (i.e. transcriptions)
 3) Try to edit the text in one of the labels, preferably the first one

Audacity will freeze for quite a long time.

Actually label editing has a bunch of problems but this one is
particularly bad... It turns out that the code that's responsible is
the "experimental lyrics window", which can be shown when you choose
"Karaoke..." from the View menu.

You can easily disable this "feature" by commending out the
EXPERIMENTAL_LYRICS_WINDOW line in src/Experimental.h, which makes it
possible to edit label texts. But I'm sure some people out there
actually use it...

[Bug 529337] Re: Hangs for a long time when editing labels on large files

2010-02-28 Thread dhd
Yes, still present in the latest snapshot. GDB says it is hanging in
Lyrics::Add - it also spends a lot of time there when loading the
project or importing the label track.

Which is a bit strange since the lyrics/karaoke window is not even
visible. I guess that's why it's called 'experimental' :)

Once experimental lyrics support is disabled there are some other label
editing bugs, but this is the worst one...

One other comment - I discovered in the code that the karaoke window
only uses the first label track. So you can work around this bug by
inserting a bogus empty label track before the one that you actually
want to edit.

[Bug 495939] Re: File mode specification error: (file-error "Cannot open load file" "sb-html")

2009-12-14 Thread dhd
Hi, here's the backtrace with emacs -q and debug-on-error set to t:

Debugger entered--Lisp error: (file-error "Cannot open load file" "sb-html")
  require(sb-html)
  (lambda nil (require (quote sb-html)))()

  find-file-noselect("~/foo.html" nil nil t)
  find-file("~/foo.html" t)

One detail that may be relevant here is that I have Emacs.toolBar: 0 in
my .Xresources. However, if I remove this resource, I still get the
same problem.

This occurs regardless of whether foo.html already exists or not.

Oh I found the offending hook, it is in /etc/emacs/site-
start.d/51speedbar.el, which is from the speedbar package (which I have
no memory of installing, actually!)

So this is more likely to be a bug in speedbar.

I did previously use emacs22 and emacs-snapshot.

[Bug 433308] [NEW] can't connect to a2dp device

2009-09-19 Thread dhd
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

Hi, I have one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Jensen-WBT310-Universal-Bluetooth-
Receiver/dp/B000CMU1NM

It is just a garden variety A2DP device, looks like headphones, and
works fine with, e.g. SymbianOS and MacOS.

I could swear that it worked fine in Jaunty although my memory isn't so
clear on that. Anyway, in Karmic, I can successfully pair with it but I
can't connect to it. If I select "Connect" in the device's submenu from
the Bluetooth tray icon, it does nothing. It doesn't show up in the
Audio Preferences device list, so PulseAudio doesn't know anything about
it.

I don't know where to report this bug, but it Just Does Not Work... and
it seems like other people are actually using A2DP semi-successfully.

made it appear, and then it was magically there the next time I logged

[Bug 359653] Re: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 61s! [hald-addon-stor:3486]

2009-11-27 Thread dhd
Hi. I have this problem every day with Karmic. It is always 61s. As
with the paraiko above I thought it was related to the nvidia drivers,
but I get it with the nv driver too. And, like paraiko, with the nv
driver I also can't resume from hibernation - it just hangs.

Usually I get the BUG: when listening to music and web browsing at the
same time. Lately, though, the process that seems to be hanging is
usually 'fuser' (which is a bit odd, I wonder what is running this so
often).

And why is it always 61s?

This is definitely NOT fixed in karmic for me, in fact, I did not get it
with Jaunty.

One other data point here, though - I have a DVD-RW drive in my system
which seems to be malfunctioning. I'm not really sure if it is the
drive itself, or the cable (I swapped cables with the hard drive and
it's still broken), the driver, or the motherboard. I have also gotten
lockups with hald-addon-stor which are surrounded by a bunch of "ata1:
lost interrupt" and similar messages.

See the attached file for examples. The motherboard has a VIA V8T890
chipset and the CPU is an Athlon 64 X2 3800+

This has been happening literally at least once a day since I upgraded

audio and browsing the web at the same time. I am not sure if this is
the same bug as all the other ones that have "stuck for 61s" in their
title, but it seems like this must be a serious problem if so many
people are having it.

[Bug 379135] Re: IPython history is broken. IndentationErrors everywhere.

2009-11-18 Thread dhd
workaround is to type "%autocall" to turn off autocall magic (whatever
that is)

see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ipython/+bug/384713

(not sure how to attach that here)

[Bug 531622] [NEW] Unclear label text in vino-preferences

2010-03-03 Thread dhd
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vino

The English translation of vino-preferences window has an option called
"Configure network automatically to accept connections". It is not at
all clear what this means. The tooltip says something about UPnP on the
router. I know what UPnP is, but I have no idea what it has to do with
sharing my desktop, and I suspect your average user doesn't even know
what UPnP is.

If this option does something useful, either the label text or the
tooltip, or maybe both, should make it obvious what it does. Otherwise
it should be removed, perhaps in favor of a more useful option.

I should add that the wording of this option is awkward for native
English speakers. I *think* it should be "Configure network to
automatically accept connections", and the author is laboring under the
delusion that "split infinitives" are to be avoided. See:

http://ling.ed.ac.uk/~gpullum/grammar/splitinf.html

But I can't really tell because I don't know what the option does.
Maybe it just configures the network automatically so that other
computers can find mine, and I have to check a different box to make my
computer automatically accept those connections?

[Bug 444217] [NEW] ath9k regression in 2.6.31-11

2009-10-05 Thread dhd
Public bug reported:

I'm actually using 2.6.31-10 to type this, because 2.6.31-11 is unusable
on my eeepc 1005ha. It connects to a wireless network, but the
connection silently stops working after about 10-20 seconds. The system
log doesn't show any failures, and iwconfig, ifconfig, and network-
manager still think that the connection is up, but it no longer sends or
receives data.

Not sure what changed in the ath9k driver, but something is definitely
broken. 2.6.31-10 doesn't have this problem (though of course it has
others).

[Bug 427725] [NEW] Typing "lian" in py-b5 makes ibus-m17n crash

2009-09-11 Thread dhd
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ibus-m17n

To reproduce this bug:

 1) Select py-b5 input method in ibus
 2) Type "lian"
 3) ibus (and whatever program you're typing into) will crash

I'm not sure how to get a debug log though... there doesn't seem to be
anything in .xsession-errors about this. Apport says that the bug was
caused by an assertion failure.

[Bug 414560] Re: ath9k disassociates/reassociates a lot

2009-10-08 Thread dhd
hi, i'm running 2.6.31-12.41 on an eeepc 1005ha. with network-manager I
get a lot of the bogus roaming from bug #291760. If I switch to wicd,
which doesn't roam automatically, I get the disassociation/association
problem:

Oct 8 13:40:03 bluesy kernel: [ 543.544154] wlan0: no probe response from AP
00:1a:1e:1e:d2:40 - disassociating
Oct 8 13:40:03 bluesy kernel: [ 543.565826] ath9k: DMA failed to stop in 10
ms AR_CR=0x0024 AR_DIAG_SW=0x0020

What I've just seen is:

 1) Load the module and connect
 2) Under heavy traffic (branching a large bzr tree over ssh) I get 2-3
disassociations over a minute or two
 3) After this the disassociations stop, but the network performance is lousy
(about 10% packet loss)

This is on an academic network with hundreds or thousands of different
APs, but I've been in the same room for the last few hours.

Yes, fixed for me in 2.6.31-12. The other ath9k bugs, not so much :(

[Bug 414560] Re: ath9k disassociates/reassociates a lot

2009-10-09 Thread dhd
One additional data point here - with 2.6.31-12, I had the
disassociation problem on campus at CMU (hundreds of access points,
usually 5-10 of them visible at once, unsecured network), but not at
home (one access point, WEP). Will report on 2.6.31-13 later.

[Bug 425881] [NEW] language panel does not show up

2009-09-07 Thread dhd
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ibus

Hi, I decided to try to switch from SCIM to iBus in Karmic since it is
supposed to be the wave of the future.

First, I tried to run:

im-switch -s ibus

But this did not work because I had a broken link in ~/.xinput.d/en_US

After removing this link, I was able to enable ibus. I logged out and
back in and tried to use it.

It does appear to allow me to input Chinese characters, however, it
refuses to show the language panel, which makes Pinyin input completely
useless. Changing the setting in ibus-setup to "always" show it still
doesn't cause it to appear.

If it makes any difference, I removed all of the hotkeys except Alt-
Grave, since I don't have most of them and Ctrl-Space is kind of
important for Emacs.

Is there any way that I can debug this? I'm mystified as to what
program actually runs to show the panel in the first place.

Also, I don't have a notification icon for ibus (strangely enough I had
one if I started it up when I had SCIM running...)

Addendum: running /usr/lib/ibus/ibus-ui-gtk from the command line
manually makes it all work.

Why doesn't this get started automatically?

[Bug 425902] [NEW] can't activate ibus in emacs22-gtk

2009-09-07 Thread dhd
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: emacs22

1) Enable ibus for input methods using im-switch -s ibus, make sure ibus-daemon
and ibus-ui-gtk are running
2) Set up some hotkey for ibus that doesn't conflict with any Emacs
keybindings, Ctrl-` for instance
3) Try to trigger ibus in emacs...

Emacs says "C-` is undefined"

Likewise if you want to use the standard Alt-`, and you global-unset-key
M-` and A-` in Emacs, it does the same thing.

The workaround is to keep the ibus language panel on all the time, which
is kind of annoying.

[Bug 461220] [NEW] Gnash can't play MySpace music

2009-10-26 Thread dhd
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnash

Hi,

Gnash won't load the music player plugin on MySpace band pages. For
example: http://www.myspace.com/bazookacrossover

I've attached the Gnash debug log. Apparently this has to do with
missing support for Flash 9 and AVM2:

7180:1] 12:12:26: UNIMPLEMENTED: SWF9 is not fully supported, trying
anyway but don't expect it to work

7180:2] 12:12:26: ERROR: This SWF file requires AVM2, which was not
enabled at compile time.

Is there a more recent version of Gnash that does? The upstream bug
tracker seems to believe that this is fixed...

[Bug 439497] [NEW] songbird crashes with missing symbol in _gst.so

2009-09-30 Thread dhd
Public bug reported:

When trying to run songbird, I get the following error:

././songbird-bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-
packages/gst-0.10/gst/_gst.so: undefined symbol: gst_task_pool_get_type

I think this is related to some particular plugin that it is trying to
