[Bug 351319] Re: Bug 188444 – playback is unreliable and broken in Amarok and JuK using phonon gstre amer backend
This problem seems similar to mine, on Kubuntu Jaunty and a HDA Intel ALC861. When I use Gstreamer Phonon engine, Amarok doesn't play anything at all, although other apps do. When I switch to the Xine backend (the default one in Kubuntu) from systemsettings panel, then Amarok plays. But then, Amarok sound volume doesn't follow the KMix sound volume. By experimenting (Xine backend) I found out that Amarok "follows" the "Front" channel while KMix gives me only the PCM channel (the Front channel can only be muted, there's no apparent way to adjust it). I found a similar bug report in KDE bugzilla, but the developers say it's a Phonon issue. I' m not sure about that, since Amarok2 plays OK in Manriva 2009.1. See: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189755 I run Kubuntu Jaunty with these packages installed: amarok 2:2.0.2mysql5.1.30-0ubuntu3 amarok-common 2:2.0.2mysql5.1.30-0ubuntu3 phonon-backend-gstreamer 4:4.3.1-0ubuntu3 phonon-backend-xine4:4.3.1-0ubuntu3 libxine1-ffmpeg 1.1.16.3-0ubuntu1 gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 0.10.7.debian-1 gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg 0.10.6.2-1ubuntu2 gstreamer0.10-alsa0.10.22-5 ** Bug watch added: KDE Bug Tracking System #189755 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189755 -- Bug 188444 – playback is unreliable and broken in Amarok and JuK using phonon gstreamer backend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/351319 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 363439] [NEW] Sudden X.org crashes on Radeon card
Public bug reported: My desktop PC runs on an AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3700+ with 1GB of RAM. The PCI VGA adapter is a Radeon X300. I experience sudden and without any apparent pattern X crashes. For instance, I may be using Firefox with just one tab open and Gnome hangs. But I may also be playing some 3D game (i.e. Neverball) or a Wine-emulated game (i.e. Grim Fantango) and Gnome also hangs. But I may also use the system for a lot of hours without any problem! I have tested the RAM (memtest), as well as the ext4 formatted Western Digital WDC WD800JD-22LSA0 hard disks. There seem to be ok. The reason I' m reporting this against xorg-server is this log entry I noticed after the latest X crash (I was watching the intro of Grim Fantango in full screen): II) RADEON(0): Output: DVI-0, Detected Monitor Type: 0 Unhandled monitor type 0 (II) RADEON(0): Output: S-video, Detected Monitor Type: 0 Backtrace: 0: /usr/X11R6/bin/X(xorg_backtrace+0x26) [0x4f1b66] 1: /usr/X11R6/bin/X(xf86SigHandler+0x41) [0x485a61] 2: /lib/libc.so.6 [0x7f90b236f040] 3: /usr/lib/dri/r300_dri.so [0x7f90a57ff9e8] 4: /usr/lib/dri/r300_dri.so [0x7f90a57f7da8] 5: /usr/lib/dri/r300_dri.so(_swrast_DrawPixels+0x100) [0x7f90a57f86a0] 6: /usr/lib/dri/r300_dri.so(_mesa_DrawPixels+0x2ab) [0x7f90a57a69ab] 7: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions//libglx.so [0x7f90b1085fbd] 8: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions//libglx.so [0x7f90b1089de2] 9: /usr/X11R6/bin/X(Dispatch+0x364) [0x44e304] 10: /usr/X11R6/bin/X(main+0x3bd) [0x433d8d] 11: /lib/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xe6) [0x7f90b235a5a6] 12: /usr/X11R6/bin/X [0x433219] Saw signal 11. [Bug 31709] Re: K3b slow dvd burn speed
Hi again! Seems my problems stemmed from missing dma setting. [Bug 31709] Re: K3b slow dvd burn speed
Ι confirm and reckon a very very old bug. In my case, it appeared some one year ago with both of my DVD-RW devices. They are the same LG model HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4167B. This is the output of /sbin/hdparm -i: Model=HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4167B , FwRev=DL12, SerialNo=25C5C279C2B5 Config={ Fixed Removeable DTR<=5Mbs DTR>10Mbs nonMagnetic } RawCHS=0/0/0, TrkSize=0, SectSize=0, ECCbytes=0 BuffType=unknown, BuffSize=0kB, MaxMultSect=0 (maybe): CurCHS=0/0/0, CurSects=0, LBA=yes, LBAsects=0 IORDY=on/off, tPIO={min:120,w/IORDY:120}, tDMA={min:120,rec:120} PIO modes: pio0 pio3 pio4 DMA modes: mdma0 mdma1 mdma2 UDMA modes: udma0 udma1 *udma2 AdvancedPM=no Drive conforms to: Unspecified: ATA/ATAPI-2,3,4,5 Problem description is very simple. Burning speed for CDs or DVDs does not meet (any more) the capabilities of this device, when using on-the-fly mode of K3b. Furthermore, during CD/DVD burning, the desktop at large seems to lag behind. I mean, CPU load is peeking and mouse stops moving periodically (only for a moment). In the end, CDs/DVDs are OK, but this is a torture (and a time-consuming effort). The problem manifests in Ubuntu 7.10, 8.04, Debian as well as Fedora 8 and 9. So it is not distro specific. Also, I am not sure that this is necessarily a K3B specific, since Gnome CD/DVD Creator or Brasero are not burning on the fly. Even then, it takes 7 minutes for a CD 700MB burn and mouse lags are there (but not so frequent or heavy as in K3b) The CPU is AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3700+. -- K3b slow dvd burn speed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/31709 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Initially I got the same kernel panic error, but "noreplace-paravirt" boot option did the trick. Now I can boot with or w/ any ACPI enabled in the Advanced settings of VirtualBox. -- Kernel panic during boot in VirtualBox with kernel 2.6.26.*-generic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246067 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 207068] [NEW] No sound with Intel HDA ICH8 (chip SigmaTel ID 7698) in Hardy
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: alsa-base Hi, I've just installed Hardy beta and apt-get upgraded to the latest updates. Everything seems ok (3D, webcam, etc), but there is no sound output. The mixer applet seems to be working. All sound and video applications report no problem and work flawlessly, nevertheless I don't hear anything. I checked alsamixer, Master and PCM volumes are maxed, not muted. Also, I tried changing device by the relevant menu on mixer applet. It gives me the following choices: HDA intel (alsa mixer), SigmaTel ID 7698 (OSS Mixer) and Playback: ALSA PCM on front:0 (HDA Generic) via DMA (PulseAudio). None of the above worked. I had the same problem on Gutsy. I know there is a similar bug report (#131133), with a link to http://tinyurl.com/35kbbn containing some advices, but none of them worked for me before. My laptop is of a local brand in Greece. [Bug 1906741] Re: Firefox sometimes causes garbled audio
Same issue here. Garbled noises are being heard on top of my music (playing in the background via Rhythmbox) after starting Firefox and visiting some random website. My desktop is an AMD Ryzen on a Gigabyte X570 mobo with an nVidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB GPU. Like others noted, the noises seem stop for a while when I change the Output Device from "Line Out - Starship/Matisse" to "HDMI / DisplayPort X - GP106 High Definition Audio Controller". [Bug 863068] Re: compiz assert failure: *** glibc detected *** compiz: malloc(): memory corruption: 0x00007f43c414ae10 ***
The strange behavior continues. I have a fully updated Ubuntu 11.10 here, and Compiz/Unity keeps on restarting with no apparent pattern. A while ago, I was editing a document in LibreOffice - in the background Firefox was running with just three tabs. I opened gnome-calculator via Alt+f2 to do a simple multiplication (24 x 3600). When I typed the number 24, Compiz just restarted, and I lost my work in LibreOffice. The strange thing is that Ubuntu did not understand the crash. I just logged in again. No bug report was offered to me... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/863068 Title: compiz assert failure: *** glibc detected *** compiz: malloc(): memory corruption: 0x7f43c414ae10 *** To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nux/+bug/863068/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1070963] Re: libreoffice calc hangs when opening an xls file shared over cifs
Same problem here (on default Ubuntu 13.04 installation) with LibreOffice Calc. Opening an XLS / ODS over SMB, then closing it seems to crash LibreOffice. You cannot kill it, nor restart it. No success attempting to kill -9 the soffice.bin process. Neither "pkill -9 -f soffice.bin" did something. The only way out is to reboot your PC :( I am attaching strace log as Michael Meeks requested on comment #8. ** Attachment added: "output of "strace -f -ttt -s 256 -o /tmp/slog soffice -writer"" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1070963/+attachment/3748593/+files/slog -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1070963 Title: libreoffice calc hangs when opening an xls file shared over cifs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/1070963/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 770283] Re: [fglrx]title bar does not update on non-maximized windows

[Bug 655554] [NEW] Dolphin 1.5 can't paste files to remote smb folder
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: dolphin After upgrading to Kubuntu 10.10 beta, Dolphin can't paste files to remote smb folders (Windows shares). Using Konqueror 4.5.1, I can paste the same files into the same remote smb folder with no problem whatsoever. Moreover, up to Kubuntu 10.04, Dolphin worked like a charm and copied any file gracefully (into the same shared folder). No settings were changed in our file server recently. Here's my workflow where the problem occurs: 1. Have a Windows PC called 'syros' to serve some folder, i.e. Data 2. Open Dolphin, press Ctrl+L, enter smb://username:passw...@syros/DATA 3. Files are displayed. 4. Copy a local file (i.e. filename.xls) and paste it into the the remote folder. 5. Dolphin creates a pseudofile but displays a message like this: "Could not write to file smb://dkalama...@syros/DATA/filename.xls" The strange thing is that I can still create remote files from Dolphin (right click while viewing the remote folder > Create New > Text file) and save any of them. Any ideas? ** Affects: dolphin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Dolphin 1.5 can't paste files to remote smb folder https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/64 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to dolphin in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
