[Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to Eduroam (worldwide WiFi network for university students)

2013-03-19 Thread hepaly
Hi Zsolt, This problem affects me, when i try to connect to my office
network. We never used certificate authority. The wifi network allows
the connection, when I use a specific hostname, and username/password.
Ubuntu 12.10 is working well. On last week, the wifi connection was OK
on ubuntu 13.04.

Got it. Ignored feature freeze like apparently ~everyone else at Canonical.
If you aren't in the archive at feature freeze, you've missed it. We moved
feature freeze later in the cycle in order to give people more time. I'm
still reviewing this and will probably approve it since at a glance, it's not
very invasive, but in the future, please plan on landing your work in the
archive before freeze.

[Bug 1126205] Re: Bring Unity appmenu / HUD integration to Qt5

2013-03-19 Thread Akiva
Just an fyi to anyone who is confused:
It is only the ubuntu SDK version from which does not have unity integration.
It comes from this ppa which is found from the app tutorial on ubuntu's website:
http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-sdk-team/ppa/ubuntu

Install the package "Ubuntu-sdk", and qtcreator is forced to upgrade to
the version which does not integrate into unity, lacking the hud support
etc...

So, if you are just developing for QT4, I believe you can simply for the time
being, simply take out the sdk ppa and reinstall.
I am going to bother the qt guys about this.

[Bug 1157026] [NEW] Sync zbar 0.10+doc-8 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2013-03-19 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
Public bug reported:

Changelog entries since current raring version 0.10+doc-7build3:

Thanks to Robert Millan (Closes: #634774)
  * [1f15f52e] Add sentinel to PyGetSetDef imagescanner_getset[].

Re: [Bug 1135418] Re: [FFe] Integrate Ubuntu plugin and update to 2.7 RC

2013-03-19 Thread Scott Kitterman
Thanks.

Package: ubuntu-qtcreator-plugins

Most upstream names for Qt creator plugins seem to follow the naming
scheme:

qtcreator-plugin-$NAME

I think it would be better to stick with this and use qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu
for the name of the new binary. Also, you'll need to find an archive admin
with time to do the New processing for this.

Pre-Depends: dpkg (>= 1.15.6) is not needed on Ubuntu.

Description: Ubuntu plugins for Qt Creator IDE

plugins should be singular.

Thanks for the debian/copyright update. I don't think the botan copyright is
needed, since we patch it to build against the system botan and not the
embedded copy.

Also, you'll need to add a full copy of GPL v3 to the source tarball. While
referring to /usr/share/common-licenses is fine for debian/copyright, the
tarball needs to be distributable outside of a Debian/Debian based system, so
the full license is needed. Also, it looks like Canonical's choice of license
will be a barrier to eventual upstreaming: http://qt-project.org/legal.html -
you might want to start working now.

Approved provided you can find an archive admin with time to process.

Ok, now it seems like we're getting somewhere. One of these messages is not
unusual; line 206 of the script calls activate_vg to try to create the
device node in the case that the source device is on LVM. The second
message, however, seems to come from line 304, and I don't know why that's
being hit.

I think you should edit the script to add more debugging information. You
may also want to change the message() function to *not* use plymouth, since
plymouth messages will only show one at a time, making it difficult to track
what's happening.

You may also want to check if this problem is reproducible with the
initramfs from the quantal kernel. It's possible that this is a hardware
issue rather than a bug in the new version of the packages.

[Bug 183492]

2013-03-19 Thread Michaelkintzios
The latest update of python broke Komodo-edit. It won't install when
running python-updater:

# eselect python list
Available Python interpreters:
  [1] python2.7 *
  [2] python3.1
  [3] python3.2

# eselect python list --python3
Available Python 3 interpreters:
  [1] python3.1
  [2] python3.2 *

This is how it fails:

[Bug 183492]

2013-03-19 Thread Michaelkintzios
Created attachment 342350
Ebuild for komodo-edit-bin-8.0.0 (build 12188)

I've hacked a new ebuild for the latest 8.0.0 version, which I tested on
a x86 arch.

It seems to work for me, although YMMV. I get some QA notices, like these:

 * QA Notice: The following files contain writable and executable sections
 * Files with such sections will not work properly (or at all!) on some
 * architectures/operating systems. A bug should be filed at
 * http://bugs.gentoo.org/ to make sure the issue is fixed.
 * For more information, see http://hardened.gentoo.org/gnu-stack.xml
 * Please include the following list of files in your report:
 * Note: Bugs should be filed for the respective maintainers
 * of the package in question and not hardened@g.o.
 * RWX --- ---
opt/komodo-edit-bin-8.0.0/lib/python/lib/python2.7/lib-dynload/_hashlib.so
 * RWX --- ---
opt/komodo-edit-bin-8.0.0/lib/python/lib/python2.7/lib-dynload/_ssl.so

and

 * As described in the Icon Theme Specification, icon file extensions are not
 * allowed in .desktop files if the value is not an absolute path.

 * QA Notice: This package installs one or more .desktop files that do not
 * pass validation.
 *
 *  /usr/share/applications/komodo-edit-bin-komodo-edit-bin.desktop: error:
value "Development;IDE;Editor;TextEditor;ActiveState;" for key "Categories" in
group "Desktop Entry" contains an unregistered value "ActiveState"; values
extending the format should start with "X-"
 *  /usr/share/applications/komodo-edit-bin-komodo-edit-bin.desktop: error:
value "Development;IDE;Editor;TextEditor;ActiveState;" for key "Categories" in
group "Desktop Entry" contains an unregistered value "Editor"; values extending
the format should start with "X-"
 *

but otherwise it functions as intended. Hope this helps others.

[Bug 779207] Re: I Can't install or remove applications. The install button flashes and that's all.

2013-03-19 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Jaylin, thanks, but that isn't good enough. It doesn't matter what the
package state is. USC should never have buttons that are clickable but
do nothing.

The problem with fixing this is that we don't know how to reproduce the
problem. If anyone works out how to reproduce it, please add some steps
here.

[Bug 1156839] Re: Apache segfault when RT ExternalAuth use in VMWARE workstation guest

2013-03-19 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This sounds very specific and I'm not sure how much progress this bug
will be able to make without a developer with exactly this setup able to
investigate.

It would help if you could provide precise steps to reproduce on a fresh
install (every command typed and file modified) so that a developer can
easily try to reproduce the problem exactly as you have it.

Please also attach a backtrace using the instructions provided at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash

Once done, please change the bug status back to New.

Setting Importance to Medium for now as this bug is so specific that I
don't think it is likely to affect many Ubuntu users. This could change,
of course.

[Bug 1156540] Re: cowdancer deletes bind-mounted directories

2013-03-19 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
This patch checks if a directory is mounted under the chroot and skips
rmrf() if there is one.

** Patch added: "cowdancer_0.71ubuntu1.debdiff"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cowdancer/+bug/1156540/+attachment/3582728/+files/cowdancer_0.71ubuntu1.debdiff

** Description changed:

If cowbuilder failed to unmount a bind-mounted directory (device busy
for example) it unconditionally deletes its content during the clean-up
  phase.

Excerpt from a log with this bug (complete log attached)
  =
  I: umounting /var/lib/jenkins/cu2d
  umount: /var/cache/pbuilder/build/cow.15281/var/lib/jenkins/cu2d: device is

The 'rm' command must skip directories on other filesystems
+
+ This bug occurs when pbuilder fails to mount all the bindmounted
+ directories, then fails to unmount previously successfully mounted
+ directories. This condition is not so rare when executing several
+ cowbuilder processes in parallel using the same bind-mounted
+ directories.

[Bug 235602]

2013-03-19 Thread Markus Mohrhard
I suppose this bug can be closed. There is one issue left about wrong
updates in master/4.0 but except for that the new range based design
handles reference updates in conditional formats quite well.

Please test in 4.0.2 and report if you think it is fixed.

Sebastian, sorry, I don't understand the question. Are you saying the

2013-03-19 Thread dino99
Public bug reported:

RR i386 + gnome3.8 (gnome3-team ppa)

since a few days, i need to open the System Settings -> Sound :
output tab -> profile and switched
choices, to activate the "Analog Surround Output 4.1"

i need to re-do this manually each time a new sound source is chosen,
because that "profile" is lost and cant activate itself, to listen the
sound output.

Note that i'm not sure about which package to blame; so feel free to
select an other one if appropriate.

More comments logged when that System Settings -> Sound is opened (or
profile switched):

[Bug 1154803] Re: Constraints prevents the allocation of nodes if they are equal to the HW.

2013-03-19 Thread Robie Basak
One further note for debugging. If you look at the web request log
(somewhere in /var/log/maas), you can see the constraints requested by
the juju maas provider to maas itself in the HTTP query string. This
could help pin it down - especially to check if it is really only the
cpu parameter that changed from maas' point of view.

[Bug 1152137] Re: Pulseaudio won't start when home directory not owned by user

2013-03-19 Thread Darren Miller
Remi,

thanks for the reply. It isn't really a bug in our setup - more of a
feature.

We use NetApp fileservers that support multi-mode filestores so we can use NTFS
ACLs
and Unix permissions on the same filestore. Most of our users use Windows, so
home directory
access is controlled with Windows ACLs. However, any files created by Linux
should have normal
Unix permissions. We could have also seen the same problem using NFS4 ACLs
instead of NTFS ACLs.

I'll have another look at our permissions to see if it is possilble to make the
home directory
appear to be owned by the user, but it still seems like an unecessary check to
me.

[Bug 1157054] [NEW] When /boot is running out of space, Ubunutu shall provide a clear message and an easy solution

2013-03-19 Thread Thibault D
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I am using a fresh 12.10 as a simple end-user since 5 months.

Yesterday I launched the Software Updater and got the following message :
- The volume "boot" has only 2,2 Mo disk space remaining
Followed by (approximately) :
- You can free some disk space by deleting unused software or files, or by
moving files to another disk or partition.
With an additional "Examine..." button, which opens baobab on the /boot
partition.

What happens : Ubuntu provides a technical message and no clear solution.
What should happen : Ubuntu provides a clear message with an easy-to-go
solution.

My thoughts :

1/ It might not be a good idea to tell an end-user to delete files or
software in /boot.

2/ Talking about "moving files to another partition" might be
incomprehensible for an end-user.

3/ Baobab did not help me (it certainly can, but obviously I did not get
how)

4/ I have been searching over the Internet / Launchpad / AskUbuntu and found
that many people are facing this issue, but that there is no out-of-the-box
solution :
- old and new bugs : Bug #237035, Bug #76521, Bug #1067106,
- hints to use "computer-janitor" (however now, both the dash and USC can not
find it),
- hints to use "sudo apt-get clean",
- hints to use even complicated solutions (http://askubuntu.com/questions/89710)
   > sudo apt-get purge $(dpkg -l linux-{image,headers}-"[0-9]*" | awk
'/ii/{print $2}' | grep -ve "$(uname -r | sed -r 's/-[a-z]+//')")

[Bug 1155752] Re: TCP Re-Transmits not occurring reliably after a ZeroWindow/WindowUpdate.

2013-03-19 Thread Robie Basak
I have also seen squid hanging for considerable periods for no apparent
reason, but I have never been able to reproduce it reliably. I wonder if
it's the same cause? My system is a VM running 12.04 using squid3
3.1.19-1ubuntu3.12.04.1.

Warren, it seems likely to me that this is a kernel networking issue,
unless squid is doing something odd with the network stack. I don't
think we're doing anything special to squid in Ubuntu.

Would you be able to test an upstream kernel (without Ubuntu patches)
but on an affected Ubuntu machine please? Instructions are here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds

Once done, please change the bug status back to New.

2013-03-19 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Thanks for your effort to help improving Ubuntu by reporting this bug!

It's not easy to troubleshoot this particular crash. Since there are no
similar crash reports, it appears to be some kind of rare glitch, so I
close the bug.

Please feel free to reopen this bug report, if you think it's an easily
reproducible issue that should be addressed separately.

Indeed. You can request a handler or several handlers for multiple mime
types at once. I also cannot imagine a good use case for requesting
several mime type handlers at the same time. But that is the given
design of the PackageKit API that we need to implement here.

The same is true for multimedia codecs - and more obvious: You e.g.
need a handler for the audio stream, the video stream and the container
format. In a cornor case all three handlers are located in separate
packages. There is a small logic in session-installer that pre-selects
the package or the best packages that provide all handlers by default.

[Bug 1156540] Re: cowdancer deletes bind-mounted directories

2013-03-19 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #703406
   http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=703406

** Also affects: cowdancer (Debian) via
   http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=703406
   Importance: Unknown
   Status: Unknown

** Description changed:

If cowbuilder failed to unmount a bind-mounted directory (device busy
for example) it unconditionally deletes its content during the clean-up
  phase.

Excerpt from a log with this bug (complete log attached)
  =
  I: umounting /var/lib/jenkins/cu2d
  umount: /var/cache/pbuilder/build/cow.15281/var/lib/jenkins/cu2d: device is
busy.
(In some cases useful info about processes that use
the device is found by lsof(8) or fuser(1))
  [...]
   -> Cleaning COW directory
    forking: rm -rf /var/cache/pbuilder/build//cow.1195
  rm: cannot remove
`/var/cache/pbuilder/build//cow.1195/var/cache/pbuilder/ccache': Device or
resource busy

 Device or resource busy
  rm: cannot remove
`/var/cache/pbuilder/build//cow.1195/var/lib/jenkins/cu2d/launchpad.cache':
Directory not empty
  =

The 'rm' command must skip directories on other filesystems

This bug occurs when pbuilder fails to mount a bindmounted directory,
then fails to unmount previously successfully mounted directories. This
condition is not so rare when executing several cowbuilder processes in
parallel using the same bind-mounted directories.

+ There is no easy way to reproduce this issue:
+ - Start several cowbuilder in parallel (in our system we run around 40) and
bind mount the same source directories
+ - patch /usr/lib/pbuilder/pbuilder-modules lines 275 to 291 to fail on 2nd
bindmount then fail when it tries to unmount one of the successfully mounted
directory.

[Bug 1157065] Re: preseed install fails with "The username you entered (root) is reserved.."

2013-03-19 Thread Oliver Grawert
i think you are missing a line like:

d-i user-setup/allow-password-weak boolean true
("ubuntu" isnt a very strong one)

the error message should indeed tell you instead of pointing to the root
user ...

[Bug 858845] Re: Screen edge actions set in CCSM (scale/expo) don't work (sometimes) - plugin load-order causes the shortcut loss

2013-03-19 Thread matthieu vidal
I confirm how boring this problem is ...

Simpliest workaround :

alt+f2

unity --replace

Sometime compiz freeze at restart then :

Ctrl + Alt + t
unity --replace

then alt+f2 again ...

the command "unity --replace" remains in the Alt+f2 list

2013-03-19 Thread Chris Wilson

sna: Haswell reintroduces MI_LOAD_SCAN_LINES

Better late than never? Interestingly only available from the BLT ring,
which makes accurate waiting for XVideo (which must use the render ring)
impossible in the current form - we need to render to a temporary then
do a vsynced blit in this case.
