This sounds very specific and I'm not sure how much progress this bug will be able to make without a developer with exactly this setup able to investigate. It would help if you could provide precise steps to reproduce on a fresh install (every command typed and file modified) so that a developer can easily try to reproduce the problem exactly as you have it. Setting Importance to Medium for now as this bug is so specific that I don't think it is likely to affect many Ubuntu users.
