[Bug 783320] [NEW] Entire system slows when downloading flash content
Public bug reported: Upgrade to Natty on a Dell Latitude D620 with Intel graphics, Current flash-nonfree running under firefox 4. When a flash video is buffering, the entire system stutters - the mouse lags and jumps all over, switching between windows takes tens of seconds and large blocks of keyboard input are simply lost if entered. Behavior returns to normal once the flash content has finished downloading. The same behavior occurs when nnn-video flash content is downloading as well - and it stops as soon as the content has finished downloading. It is not site specific. No change with a switch from the new unity interface to the classic. flashplugin-installer and flashplugin-nonfree 10.2.159.1ubuntu1 Firefox 4.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.11.04.1 Not sure if it's caused by flash, firefox, both or something else entirely, but it happens every time I try to load flash content ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: firefox flash lag stutter system-wide -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/783320 Title: Entire system slows when downloading flash content -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 779509] Re: keyboard layout settings not remembered
Ok...but do you have two keyboard layouts to choose from or only one? Does the indicator applet show in the tray accordingly? What keyboard did you choose during Natty first installation? Is it the same one as the layout you use now or did you add an additional keyboard layout afterward? I installed Natty with the german de_de (latin1_nodeadkeys) and it's the only one. I have no tray icon concerning the keymap/language. I never changed the language/keymap after the installation. At my server installation i have no X, so there's no tray icon or something else. During the installation I choosed the same keymap but a "qwerty" was installed and used. [Bug 689326] Re: open office crashed several times in an hour
drpjkurian, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: openoffice.org (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/689326 Title: open office crashed several times in an hour -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 783324] [NEW] 3G connection entries in the menu when mobile broadband disabled
Public bug reported: I don't expect to see the mobile broadband connection in the menu before mobile broadband has been enabled. It also seems to work without mobile broadband is enabled. I'm not sure what the downsides are with this behavior. The workaround for bug #769497 does not work at least. And it might be that the modem is not properly turned off when using the connection without enabling mobile broadband. I'm using an Ericsson MBM module. This might be caused by the fact that it has support for both PPP through ACM and DHCP using usb_ncm module. [Bug 783307] Re: e mail send goes nowhere
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thanks! When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/783307 Title: e mail send goes nowhere -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 783306] Re: package binutils 2.21.0.20110327-2ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: corrupted filesystem tarfile - corrupted package archive
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. If this does resolve your bug please set its status to Invalid. Thanks in advance! [This is an automated message. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 728101 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/728101 No duplicate of bug #728101 for me: it doesn't happen (only) when closing lid, but also just leaving the laptop alone for enough time; it happens to me 1-2 times per day, after the upgrade to Ubuntu 11.04. The last messages I always find in syslog, after Ctrl+Alt+F1-ing to a console, are: May 16 09:41:35 adaca-PSL4BE-2 acpid: client 29751[0:0] has disconnected May 16 09:41:35 adaca-PSL4BE-2 acpid: client connected from 29751[0:0] May 16 09:41:35 adaca-PSL4BE-2 acpid: 1 client rule loaded The 29751 process is X. Usually, at this point I follow the PID chain until the gnome-session, and kill it; going back to the UI with Ctrl+Alt+F8 gets me the login form, I can then login but my previously opened windows are gone. I'll try the "compiz --replace" fix next time, and post an update here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/760769 Title: Desktop stops responding to all keyboard and mouse clicks -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 626178] Re: ufw package contains mo files
Ok, so after Gabor's comment I had another look as well. I've linked a branch that fixes the problem in the code. However, I haven't submitted a merge proposal yet because the fix still needs some extra bits on the packaging side, and I'm not an expert on that. Basically, what I've done is to use python-distutils-extra to add support for building translations and updating the .pot file using standard practices. What is left to do is: a) that the package calls python-distutils-extra during the build in order to build and install the .mo files, and b) that the package produces a .pot file on build. Generally, the CDBS-based packages I've seen use the following classes to do that, which take care of everything, but I'm not too sure how to best do it with the ufw package. include /usr/share/cdbs/1/class/python-distutils.mk include /usr/share/cdbs/1/rules/langpack.mk Jamie, do you think you could have a look at it and add the missing packaging bits to the linked branch? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/626178 Title: ufw package contains mo files -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 783238] Re: Uninstalled Thunderbird and set Evolution as default but Thunderbird still shown in Dash.
Thanks for the suggestion, but those instructions are for 10.04. This is primarily a Unity problem (with the Dash). I think I have worked around the problem by deleting local .desktop shortcuts for mail programs from ~/.local/share/applications, copied /usr/share/applications/evolution.desktop to ~/.local/share/applications, reset Evolution as my preferred email client and the Dash is now correctly displaying Evolution. It could be that this problem was just specific to my setup, but I'll leave the bug here. If nobody confirms it, it can be closed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/783238 Title: Uninstalled Thunderbird and set Evolution as default but Thunderbird still shown in Dash. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
