Hello guys, Using remote desktop to access Ubuntu desktop for a while I had to face the same issue with composition enabled. As a temporary workaround, for the time being, I use an application name TeamViewer (http://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/index.aspx). If it is not perfect, at least it copes well for me with the Unity desktop.
