[Bug 715532] Re: the headphones are no longer recognised.

2011-02-26 Thread Philip Douglas
I think I've solved it!
In Windows the socket was working perfectly well, so how could the plug not be
correctly inserted? Well, apparently it can be in well enough for Windows but
not Linux. In Windows the plug (though not fully in) took a signal and
inhibited the line out from the other outlet. In Ubuntu the plug (untouched
from how it was above) did neither thing. In working at (and round) this I have
swapped between the two operating systems and the pattern was consistent -- in
one operating system the headphones worked, in the other they didn't
That fact, plus that the 'headphone' socket control on Alsamixer did nothing,
but the 'front out' (or something) controlled the headphone socket convinced me
that there was a problem.
So either jamming the plug in HARD has fixed the problem, or else it has fixed
itself.
My apologies to anyone who might have been taxing their brains about this,
Phil

[Bug 725445] [NEW] Crash when loading Zoho Applications

2011-02-26 Thread Donato Roque
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

I am using epiphany-browser 2.30.2 from the ubuntu repository. I am
using ubuntu 10.10 maverick. Every website I have in my bookmark loads
fine and fast. I love epiphan. But I just have to push it. I loaded my
Zoho Account and tried opening my email when it crashed. There's a
message to reload and i did. The results are the same. I'm pretty sure
it can be replicated. I'll check if this has something to do with
cookies though. I have it set to accept sites I visit. plugins and

[Bug 725444] [NEW] Grub2 mixes up Windows partitions on Dell laptop

2011-02-26 Thread wgbuntu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub2

  Version table:

I have a dual boot setup on Dell Inspiron 1521. Vista is on sda3, Dell
recovery partition is sda5, Ubuntu 10.10 is on sda6. Ubuntu is ok in
selection menu (grub.cfg). However grub2 decided that the Vista
partition is sda5 and the Dell recovery partition is sda3. If I select
the sda3 partition I boot into Vista, so that is ok, only the
description is reversed. Also there is no good way to manually correct
this on a permanent basis.

[Bug 723603] Re: vsftpd no longer supports both anonymous_enable and local_enable

2011-02-26 Thread AlainKnaff
It seems to complain about pam_shells.

And indeed, after commenting this out, the problem goes away, even with
both anonymous_enable and local_enable set to YES.

The problem becomes different when starting vsftpd from the command line
instead of using "service vsftpd start":

# ftp localhost
Connected to localhost.localdomain.
220 (vsFTPd 2.2.2)
Name (localhost:root): aknaff
331 Please specify the password.
Password:
ltdb: tdb(/var/lib/samba/group_mapping.ldb): tdb_mmap failed for size 77824
(Cannot allocate memory)
Login failed.

Another weird thing is that the process spawned by vsftpd.log per user
has the following in /proc//limits

Max address space 104857600104857600
bytes

The master process doesn't, it has:

Max address space unlimitedunlimited
bytes

[Bug 654042] Re: Maverick reboots immediately after shutdown on travelmate 5530g

2011-02-26 Thread Fabio Marconi
Hello Nemo_bis
This issue seems fixed in the latests 2.6.37 kernels
can you try to install it downloading the needed for your architecture (i386 or
amd64)from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.37-rc1-maverick/
installing on first
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.37-rc1-maverick/linux-headers-2.6.37-020637rc1_2.6.37-020637rc1.201011020905_all.deb
 this
then the needed header then image for your architecture.
It would be great if you can also test a live session of the current build of
Natty that ship the most advanced kernel from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/
writing it on a usb key with startup disk creator or unetbootin, or burning to
a disk, then report here if it works or not.
Thanks
Fabio

[Bug 654042] Re: Maverick reboots immediately after shutdown on travelmate 5530g

2011-02-26 Thread Fabio Marconi
** Description changed:

+ ***Fixed in 2.6.37-6 ***
+
I just tried Maverick RC and found this bug. If I try to shutdown my
notebook, everything seems to go smoothly, but right after the computer shuts
down it reboots immediately. It's definitely not a clean restart, because the
power on led turns down for a second and the fan is turning down as well, but
right after that the computer reboots again.
I tried with Ubuntu 10.10 RC and Beta and Kubuntu 10.10 RC. It's happening on
LiveCD's as well. I also tried "sudo shutdown -h now" from terminal, but I had
the same issue. Ubuntu 10.04.1 and Win7 working fine on the same computer, and
there are no related ACPI settings on the bios. The only one slightly related
to this is network boot, but it's disabled.

[Bug 636045] Re: intel ips 0000:00:1f.6: MCP power or thermal limit exceeded

2011-02-26 Thread Nigel Pallett
I tried it with the the 64 bit kernel packages from the link to Ramon
van Blezen's site in #48 , and it solved a number of problems for me.

1. I removed the "intel_ips" driver from the blacklist and when it
loads, I'm no longer getting the "CPU power or thermal limit exceeded"
warning, so that problem is solved for me.

2. The problem caused by "intel_ips" loading before "i915" graphics
module is solved - see output below from kernel log:

CPU TDP doesn't match expected value (found 25, expected 29)

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager
