I tried it with the the 64 bit kernel packages from the link to Ramon van Blezen's site in #48 , and it solved a number of problems for me.
1. I removed the "intel_ips" driver from the blacklist and when it loads, I'm no longer getting the "CPU power or thermal limit exceeded" warning, so that problem is solved for me. 2. The problem caused by "intel_ips" loading before "i915" graphics module is solved - see output below from kernel log: CPU TDP doesn't match expected value (found 25, expected 29) kernel: [ 23.006634] intel ips 0000:00:1f.6: PCI INT C -> GSI 18 (level, low) -> IRQ 18 kernel: [ 23.006751] intel ips 0000:00:1f.6: failed to get i915 symbols, graphics turbo disabled kernel: [ 23.006897] intel ips 0000:00:1f.6: IPS driver initialized, MCP temp limit 90 kernel: [ 28.205706] intel ips 0000:00:1f.6: i915 driver attached, reenabling gpu turbo -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/636045 Title: intel ips 0000:00:1f.6: MCP power or thermal limit exceeded -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
