Fast wav converter to mp3?

2006-06-14 Thread shannon
Hello list,

I usually use text aloud to make my audio books. I was just wondering if there
was another program that would make the MP3 files faster?
Text aloud makes the wavve files REALLY quick but the MP3 conversion takes
aprox 15 seconds per file. That doesn't seam that long except for there are
more than 115 files per book. Smile and it takes up the entire computer to do
it. Grin.
I was just wondering if there was another way to make the wav files into MP3's.
I have neroo6 but not real good with it and media player. Will either of these
do it quicker?

Thanks for the advice.

Re: Fast wav converter to mp3?

2006-06-14 Thread shannon
Thanks Chris, Steven, and Kevin,
for the help.
Chris as far as sound quality goes this is a computer voice so there isn't
alot too loose. Smile
When I make Text aloud split a book, I tell it to only make five k files.
That way the tracks to my book are only about five min long to listen to if
I were to loose my place. When text aloud makes the WAV file it is lick-idy-
split! The progress bar flies through the WAV making part. It only takes a
second to zip right across the screen. When the MP3 con version starts it
takes 15 to 16 seconds per track i.e. wave file.
Is it just the nature of the beast? I mean is there something just faster
about WAV files than MP3 files?
I wish I could just use the wave files but my Panasonic cd walkman type
player doesn't read WAV files. It will read cda or MP3 on cdr and cdrw but
not WAV.

I was just wondering if it was the text aloud MP3 converter that was just
slow and if there was another converter that could and would do the
converting from WAV to MP3 faster.
That way I could let Text aloud make the WAV files and use another something
to make the MP3 files without taking half an hour to an hour waiting, and in
the making I can't do anything else.
I know I sound like I am impatient and only good things come to those who
wait but, I hate waiting. Grin.

How to tell what bit rate a file was made at?

2006-08-22 Thread shannon
Hello,
I have a problem. Grin
I have text aloud and have made many books into MP3 files.
I some how have changed my file settings and don't remember what the bit rate
and sample settings I used that work with my CD player.
I have a few of the previous disks here that I know worked with my player but I
can't seam to find out how or rather what settings they were recorded at. Smile
Can this be done?
I have media player and Nero 6.?
Can one of these help me to find out?
I didn't bring my players manual with me so I can't simply look it up in the
documentation as to what it will accept. Grin so that is why I am trying to
sneak around the manual. Smile
If anyone knows how I might find out how these files were recorded I would
greatly appreciate it.

2006-08-22 Thread shannon
Donna,
Thank you so much!
That worked.
Now I know that the files I had made would not have worked. Grin
At the worst the only thing I did was inconvenience a few electrons. Smile
The CD player works with a 112 bit but I could definitely hear a HUGE
difference when I messed up and made them at 24.
YUCK!!!

Thanks again for saving me.

buy this one or is it a free upgrade?
Thanks alot. Sorry I am still learning it and, am having allot of trouble
with adobe and the manual. I can't seam to get past the first page of it.

Re: C Crane FM transmiter

2006-02-13 Thread shannon
Charles,
I had saved this message from a while back. It helped me to figure it out.
another way is to call CCrane and they can walk you through it. You will
need the tiniest screw driver to do it. I actually took mine to the closest
radio shack to have them help me. They took off the bottom and did it that
way. It didn't take such a small screw driver that way. Smile I hope this
helps.

Hi there,
It's well hidden. You need a good fine bladed knife or screwdriver, and then
turn the unit over. It's hard to feel this but a rectangle near the top of
the back is actually a piece of plastic that can be peeled off. Below that
you will find the small holes for putting a jeweler's screwdriver, such as
one uses to tighten screws in eyeglasses.
You need to carefully insert the screwdriver in to the left most opening and
gently turn the adjustment all the way clockwise.

How to make sure that I have all nero updates?

2006-02-14 Thread shannon
Hello,
Can anyone tell me how I can determine if I have all the updates for Nero 6.x.x?
I don't have the foggiest idea what most of the help menus are talking about. I
have I think all of the updates but am not sure. There are more things in my
start, programs, Nero but when I go to read the user manuals some are not their
and I have to go to the site and download my language. When I pick my language
it says to make sure that I have all latest versions. My problem is I am not
sure what all the choices are and if they apply to me.
Sorry that I am asking for so much but I just don't know enough to no better.

stations for a given area is available.
I can't seam to find a good station for my setting.
Thanks to all of you.
I learned of the transmitter here on this list and I love it!

Re: FM Transmitters`

2006-02-24 Thread shannon
Hello,
I had asked a while back, messages ago, smile, if there was a listing of
radio stations in a given area. Well I found it!
If you would like to see the radio stations in a given zip code, what plays
on them and the dial position and whether they are streamed look here.
www.radio-locator.com

I used it to figure out what would be the ideal station setting on my C
Crane transmitter. I was having so much trouble with reception being
static-e. I did find the optimum station setting with this site and thought
that others might find it useful.
Have a great day.

Help needed with sony mini disk player

Hello list,

My question is, do I have to use the Sonic Stage software with this unit or
is there other software that can be used with this player that is more user

Thanks for your help.

Ok, I have had it!

2005-06-08 Thread shannon
Hello every one,

I need your help.
I currently have a Sony burner that came with some junk software called B's
Recorder Gold 5, and some think called b's clip.

This thing is giving me nothing but trouble. I have tried for two days to
copy a file on to a CD and no luck. It keeps locking up my system.
I have tried four different disks so I don't think that it is a flawed disk.
I am able to play CDS in this drive and the add remove hardware option in
control panel says that this hardware is working fine.I am running Windows
2000 professional. I have no idea how to tell what exact model of Sony
burner I have. I am also using the screen reader Window Eyes 5.0.

So now to my plea for help.
I think I need new software. I am no professional. I would like to be able
to copy CDS, make compilation disks and copy the occasional data files or
photo files for others to CDS.

This is what I would like to accomplish. I would also like to do this for
as little money as possible. Like I said I am no professional. I think that
this burner has made five CDS in its life time thus far. One reason is that
this software is just not the friendliest.

If you lovely people could point me in the right direction I would be
eternally grateful.
Thanks s much in advance.

Re: Ok, I have had it!

2005-06-08 Thread shannon
Casey,

Thank you for telling me how to find out what the drive is. It is;
   SONY CD RW CRX 220E1

I have tried two different disks made from Office Depot and two made by
Memorex.

This stupid software does worn that if there any third party recording
applications on the system that it may not work properly. It only wants
certain drivers in the win 32 file. I looked and there no other "aspi" files
in this folder. So I am stumped.
I did have sonic stage for my mini disk installed and I have already deleted
the programs that came with that.

Should I just dump this program and get a new one? Is this drive too old to
work with the newer programs?
Thanks again for the reply.

Re: comparing Easy CD Extractor vs. Easy CD/DVD Creator v. 6

2005-06-10 Thread shannon
Hello,
I have just been looking through the archives and this is the same thing I
am looking for. Daniel or someone, could you tell me where to look for this
Easy CD/DVD Creator v. 6?

I can see that Daniel is doing his homework on this subject and I would like
to get the cliff notes? Smile This program sounds like exactly what I am
looking for. I want to dump the B's Gold program I am battling.
Another question is it important what kind of burner I have installed?

Thank you
Shannon

Hi, am going to start using Nero and had a question. With that program can
you save tracts of music on your computer as MP3 or whatever to then send on
to others. I mean tracts from CD that then can be sent? I realize that a
lot of you are proficient at this but am new at it so appreciate any help
and suggestions for settings etc.

Great idea. Thanks so much for the suggestion. I have made copies of CD,
one complete copy of them without picking just certain tracts and making
compilation CD, so this sounds just like what I would need. Again thanks
for the friendly help and suggestions. It is nice to find a list where
people help and are willing to remember that there are those that haven't
had as much experience as others might have had. Appreciate it.

Need Drive recommendations

2005-06-24 Thread shannon
Hello,

You may remember that I was complaining about the software that came with my
burner B's Gold and the Sony something or other as a burner.

Well I did a bit more digging and I believe that the burner itself is the
problem. I had uninstalled the B's thing and re-installed it and still no
luck. So before I spend any money on a new program that won't work because
the hardware is junk, I should replace it. In just the briefest of looks at
the prices I can tell that it is not worth trying to fix.
I am learning to dislike SONY.
What is a good burner? I guess I should go for the best for the buck. Heck
I'll go as far as to ask which one that is also capable of making DVD's is
the best. I don't know what I will do with that capability but why not
since I have to take the computer apart anyway!
Thanks in advance for the suggestions.
Shannon

Chris,

Thanks for that. So it is like a radio program? Are there alot of these
podcasts to choose from? Where do you find them? Are you limited to the
podcasts you can pick from by the catcher you choose?

Sorry for all the questions but I haven't had any experience with them.

Thanks for the reply. I should have also asked if replacing a burner is
something that a lay person can do? Can you just unplug the bad one and
plug in a new one? Or is this a kin to brain surgery?

Hi there,
Where can one find this new version of sonic stage? I have the ver2. and it

Re: My first Minidisc upload

2005-08-05 Thread shannon
Hi Ken,
I wish I could say with certainty. I really haven't gotten to play with it
much. it is a Sony net md mini disk player. I managed to get part of a book
on it but it was incomplete so I was trying to get it off and try again but
was having no luck. I don't know if it is because I am technologically
challenged or if it was that the sonic stage 2.2 was just so unfriendly. I
know that it is a menu driven unit, but I haven't gotten far enough to know
if it will be easy to remember the order of operations.
With lots of hope I am looking forward to giving the newer version a try.
Maybe I'll actually get to play with my toy. Smile
If I get it to work I will be sure to post it here.

Re: cd.x and mp3

2005-08-29 Thread Shannon
I use this program and sometimes when you select all with control A it
doesn't work. If I remember right there is a menu selection either from the
application key or from the menu bar to select all which seems to work when
the control A does not. Try that and hopefully that will fix it.

I don't know if this will help but it sounded promising. I copped this out
of the latest Nextup email. I hope this helps.

Over the last few years we've collected a list of our favorite software
programs that fit well with our products. We've gathered these all onto one
page at

http://www.nextup.com/partners.html

Many of these have downloadable trial versions, and offer functionality that
really work well with our programs or fit well with the interests of our
typical users. This month we'd like to highlight two of these programs in
particular:

AV Voice Changer provides a variety of audio effects capable of drastically
altering the sound of a voice, either live out of TextAloud or within an mp3
file. This gives you virtually an unlimited number of sounds or
personalities you can create.

Acoustica MP3 CD Burner is a full featured CD burner capable of taking MP3
files created by TextAloud and our other programs and burns them onto audio
CDs which can be played back in any CD Player.

Other programs on our partners page include functions from Translation,
Telephone Answering, Creating Talking Pictures, Recording Radio Shows, and
editing audio files. Please check out all of these interesting products at

Recording with sound recorder

2004-06-10 Thread shannon
Hello listers,

I am new to this list and am looking for information on how to use the sound
recorder.
I have a Win 2000 pro machine.
In particular I have a screen reading program to read the text on the
screen. What I am looking to do is record my screen reader to a audio file
so I can then transfer it to a portable device such as a MP3 player.

I have been playing with the sound recorder and am some what able to
accomplish this but the quality is less than desirable i.e. allot of static
sound.
Can anyone help me with this task?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Recording with sound recorder

2004-06-10 Thread shannon

Hello Doc,

What I am trying to do is record my screen reading program while it is
reading a document or html document.
I am legally blind and can't read the print.
I have downloaded a few books in text format and would
like to record my screen reading voice to a audio file so I can put it on a
disk and make it portable. The computer is much too heavy to carry around.

Do you know how I can acomplish this?
Like I said earlier I was able to get the sound recorder under
accessories/entertainment to do this but it is a really bad coppy when
played back in Windows media player 9

There seams to be alot of static in the play back. Is this because of the
Windows Media player or the actual recording?

Re: MP3 players

2004-06-23 Thread shannon
Please excuse me for asking too but I have a sony minidisk and it came with
sonic stage software ver. 2.0u and MD simple burner ver. 2.0 on one disk.Do
you happen to know anything about thiese programs?
I will be running this on a win 2000 pro machine if there are any conflict
issues. I also use window eyes the latest version and would like to know if
this is accessable with a screen reader.
I am asking because the starter of this thread is in the same boat as I am.
I don't think this particular sony mini disk has a hard drive of it's own.

Thank you for any advice.I had tried to explaine the exact player to this
list but my message came back to me by the list owner for content.

Re: multimedia question

2004-06-23 Thread shannon
Mimi,
Please excuse this question if this should be a no brainer.
I am new to all of this recording stuff. When you said that the bit rate was
32 for talking books is that the origional bit rate for recording?
If you will allow me to tell you what I do know (Which is not much) maybe
you could fill me in.
I know that I have a book in text format. I want to make it a MP3. I
downloaded a trial version of "Text aloud".
Now start the questions is this where the 32 bit part comes in? Once I have
made an MP3 what settings are needed to burn this to a mini disk walkman so
this book could have legs?
I am sorry if this was too long of a subject.

Tony,
Thank you for the response.
I tried to click on the link you provided and it didn't work. I did however
go out to Ask.com and looked for saypad and it has taken me to another place
that says it has this download and another called four blind mice. What
exactly is Saypad and four blind mice?
This sight doesn't give allot of info on what ever these are.

sonic stage opinions

2004-06-30 Thread shannon
Hello,
a while back someone mentioned a version of sonic stage and I don't have
that message to refer to.
I was wondering if there any good or bad opinions about sonic stage version
2.0?
Are there any special things to know?

Re: sonic stage opinions

2004-07-01 Thread shannon
thank you for responding to my question. Was it too difficult to use and
that is why so short of a trial?
This software came with the minidisk I got for my birthday. I have trying
to do allot of research to be able to turn text to MP3 and then get them to
this player. I'm still searching around for all of the answers. This is
proving more difficult to do than I thought.
Thanks again

Wich would be better?

2004-07-02 Thread shannon
Hello

I am ready to start trying to make MP3 books out of text files.
My question is would I be better off to take the time to record each chapter
in its own MP3 file instead of one big one?
I want to put them in a MD player and take them with me. I suspect that if I
made them into separate files I would be more able to skip to the next
chapter easier.
I suspect that if it was one big file that I would spend allot of time fast
forwarding. Are these correct assumptions?

Thank you
Shannon

Sonic stage 2.20

2004-07-27 Thread shannon
Hello
I am trying to get started with transferring my MP3 files to my net md
player by sony and I am having allot of trouble with the software. It is
Sonic stage ver 2.20
I am using Window Eyes 4.5 sp3 as a screen reader. Has anyone used this
particular software?

Are there any things tips or tricks I could use to make this less of a
headache?

the arrow keys appear to be useless and the mouse can be made to move a
little but I can't make it recognize any of the graphics for this.

Any ideas are appreciated.
If I use the arrow keys it will only say file, edit, view.

Thanks again Shannon

Ah, So DVDS are bigger than CDS. Is that correct?
That is why someone would want to put MP3'S on a DVD.
But then aren't you limited to playing this in a DVD player? You wouldn't be
able to play this in the car or the home stereo right?

Re: putting mp3's on a dvd

2004-10-12 Thread shannon
Do you have to have a DVD burner to use them? I have a CD burner but not a
DVD player or Burner on my computer.
I was thinking since the capacity of the DVD disk is larger that it could be
useful to back up some large folders on to them and remove them from the
computer thus making more space.

Re: digital USB powered stereo fm transmitter

2004-11-11 Thread shannon
Hi,
Will this only send out radio programs on the computer? If I am not being
clear, what I really want to know is if I have a screen reader reading will
it send the signal to the stereo in the living room so I don't have to sit
by the computer to read?
Sorry I jumped in to this so late.

Re: Locating Inputs On My computer's Soundcard

2004-12-01 Thread shannon
Tom and all,
I am interested in this as well.
If you plug in the transmitter into the spot where the speakers go then what
do you do then. Go and get a radio for that room so you have sound again?
Is there some kind of splitter that you need to get to have speakers and the
transmitter too?
Thanks Shannon

Looking for music on the web.

2004-12-23 Thread shannon
Hello List,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a place that you can download music
legally and hopefully free?
I once upon a time had Kaza but I got rid of it when the copyright stuff
came out.
I was just curious if there is a resolution to the copyright issue and if it
is possible to get music again?

Thanks allot for any help

Rusty,
Thanks for the info.
What happens if you plug it into the headphone jack of the speakers? Does it
act like if you put in a headphone in there? I mean do the speakers
themselves stop producing sound?
Thanks,

I got one !!was Re: Power Screw On C-crane FM Transmitter?

2004-12-29 Thread shannon
Thanks to all of you I did it and called the C Crane company and ordered one
yesterday. I should be receiving it next Wednesday!! I'm sooo excited! I
will be free to roam around with out missing a single thing. I have a radio
in nearly every room of the house and I have a walkman radio, so I am
totally FREE!!!
I can't thank you guys enough for the info on this. If it is even half as
good as you guys think it is I'll be tickled pink. The next stop is Radio
Shack for the "Y" splitter and I am all hooked up!

I have a tiny apartment so I may not have to mess with the power screw but,
it is nice to know that it is there if I do have to boost it a bit. It is
amazing how many walls there can be in one little space!

Thanks and I'll write again when I get my new toy!

Thanks again to all of you for all of your help.

Does it take special equipment?
Like I said I know nothing. If there is a place to read about it can you

Need Help for dummies

2004-12-30 Thread shannon
Hello list,

I am slow in getting in the pool of digital. I would like to know if there
is info out here in the world written for dummies?
I am looking for digital stuff 1o1. Grin!

I would like to understand the different file types their advantages and
disadvantages. How they work and what to use them for and what uses them.
What is the definitions of all these abbreviations I hear floating around in
my Alphabet soup.
If anyone has any info or places I can go to learn about this stuff I would
like to expand my horizons.

I have found that I know just enough to confuse myself even more than when
I knew nothing!

I have a really nice mini MP3 recorder /player but I haven't the foggiest
idea what all that stuff means in the manual. They left out the much needed
Glossary of terms.
I need a pointer to the basics.
All I really know is that if I click on the file it should pop up in the
media player and do its thing. I have no idea how it works. How to
manipulate it or what I can do or not do to files.

Like Schultz said, "I know nothing!"

If you can help I would be so appreciative.
Shannon

regarding the Pc Audio Messages

2005-01-04 Thread shannon
Good morning list,

I hope this is not too far off topic but, I thought you may know best how to
answer my question.

I am using Outlook Express as my mail client.
I tried to set up message rules to organize my mail. I put in as my
conditions that if the message body contains PC-Audio or the to field says
pc audio discussion list to place the message in a folder called PC Audio
List under my In box.
Some of the messages do follow the rules and appear in this folder and some
do not want to comply and rather stay in the inbox.
Does anyone know how I can make them obey? Am I missing a syntax thing or
something like that?

I just wanted to cleanup my inbox and keep apples with the apples.
Thanks for any help.
You can feel free to contact me at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
so this traffic won't clog up the list with non audio related issues

Thanks again,

problems burning .wma files to CDR disks

2008-11-05 Thread Alexander Shannon

Hi all,

I've just joined this list in order to see if any members can assist me in
solving the following problem.

I'm using a computer running windows XP as its OS which is also loaded with
Office XP and Supernova Access Software.

I am trying to burn files which have been downloaded to the computer on to
CDS to play in a normal CD player. I thought the problem was that I was
writing the files to CDRW disks, so I went out and purchased some CDR disks.

However before that, I had tried to burn files onto CDRW disks using a trial
of Nero burning Rom version 9 and the files had reached the disks although,
at that time I was not certain that I was using the wrong disks. When I
went to purchase Nero 9, the local PC world only had Roxio Easy Media
Creator 10 in stock, so I have purchased that instead. However, even though
I have converted the files I wish to put onto CDs from .MP3 to .WMA I can't
seem to get them to burn to CDR, when as I said, they used to be able to be
written to CDRW but I couldn't play them on a standard CD player.

If anyone can work out what I am doing wrong please could you explain.
Thank you in advance for any help, and please note that the files I wish to
put on CD are files publicly available from the website of the church I
attend, and I am recording them with the permission of members of the church
purely for personal use.

Hi,

Thank you for your message. I did try to burn the files to Audio using
Roxio Easy Media Creator, but that didn't work. however, I am trying to add
all Audio files to my windows Media player library and I will try and burn
the two that I need using Windows Media player.

Thanks for that info. As I said in another reply, I'm copying all audio
files to the library in Windows Media Player, and then I will try and burn
the two that I need to Audio CD, although, if you could clarify the location
of the directory you referred to that would be helpful.

Re: problems burning .wma files to CDR disks

2008-11-06 Thread Alexander Shannon

Hi all,

Sorry to reply to my own message, but I've even tried writing the .wma files
to a CDR via the Send Too function in Windows XP and I'm still getting
nowhere. When I try to write the files to CD I highlight each file in turn
and then press shift F10 on it and select send to from the resulting list.
From the list that then appears I select my CD drive, first making sure that
the drive contains a CDR. Then Windows Media player opens and then nothing
else takes place.

So, please can someone tell me where I am going wrong, and send me either on
or off list, some step by step instructions taking into account that I use
Supernova rather than Jaws as my screen reader.

Thank you in advance for any further help anyone can give.

Hi Robbie,

In answer to your question, I also have an Hp desktop, with a Lightscribe
enabled drive. and after reading messages on this thread and taking a look
at the web, I have concluded that actual burning of CDS seems to be possible
with normal CDs, however, if you are wanting to use Lightscribe to label a

some questions about burning CDS with Roxio Easy Media Creator 10

2008-11-19 Thread Alexander Shannon

Hi all,

I did manage to burn some .wma files onto CD the other day but can't seem to
get the same procedure to work today, which has prompted me to ask any list
members who use Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 if they can help.

As I may have said, what I am trying to burn are files that I have
downloaded as .MP3 and then converted into .wma files. They are audio,
although they are speech rather than music, and therefore I have a question
or two regarding the procedure I need to follow to burn them to CD.

1. Why does Roxio assume that all audio is going to be music, ? Am I
correct in thinking that there are no special settings for recording speech
tracks to CD?

2. If I want to put just one .wma file on a CD I seem to be having trouble
getting the burn process to work even though I have now worked out where the
burn button is, because I can't seem to be able to tell whether the process
has completed, can anyone help with this either on or off list please.

Thank you all in advance.

2008-11-20 Thread Alexander Shannon

Hi Roger,

Thank you for your reply, and the answer to at least one of my questions.
The point is however, that while I understand exactly what you are saying, I
just think that designers of burning software should allow for the fact
that, not everyone burns music and therefore the fields for information in
such storage areas as libraries such as the one in Windows Media Player, and
also the equivalent area in Roxio, should not be designed with music
specific titles like artist and album.

Re: FM transmitter recommendation needed

2005-05-07 Thread shannon work
Hello,
I am kind of jumping in here but I thought I could help with this one. I use
my C Crane FM transmitter to free myself from the computer. I listen to
allot of books and how it works for me is;
I open the book file and then let Window Eyes read to end. While the
Transmitter is on I am free to roam about the house. I am not forced to sit
in front of the computer nor do I have to subject the neighbors to what ever
it is that I happen to choose.
I used to have to put the computer speakers in the window to be able to
listen while in the kitchen. That is nice when the weather permits and so
long as that what ever I am reading is suitable for all ages to hear. smile.
With the transmitter sending my chosen material to the stereo or bedroom
radio. I am free to do and listen to what ever I want to. It is a great
thing.

Re: FM transmitter recommendation needed

2005-05-07 Thread shannon work
Yes, that is exactly how it works. The transmitter plugs in to any line out
jack for head phones. What ever sound the sound card is producing will come
out through the transmitter. You could in theory plug it into a walkman and
do the same thing. I have a Y splitter plugged into my line out of the
computer. Then the speakers are plugged into one side and the transmitter
into the other side. This way sound comes out in both places i.e.. the room
ware the computer is and, in the living room through the stereo.

Does that help?

Steve,
I have gone to this site and would like to look around and play some of the
trivia but I don't hear any thing.
Do I have to turn off my window eyes to play on this site?

How do you use this tool?

Thanks,

Sorry if this is a silly question.

Richard,
You are right that sounds pretty cool. I can listen to every noise my
computer makes no matter where I am in the house? It doesn't get much better
than that. I have to set the speakers in the window of the bedroom to hear
it in the kitchen with the door open. It is getting too cold to cook and
listen. Smile. I'll have to look at the beginning of this message thread and
find the web site to order one.
Thanks allot.

Did I understand correctly, you have TV capabilities on your computer? or do

Re: Looking for a different animal.

2004-11-21 Thread shannon work
Jim,

There was a thread about a USB FM transmitter. I don't know what kind it was
but I'll paste a message leading to an ebay item here for you. Marco sent
this info to the list.
If you find that this is or not what you are looking for would you let me
know? I am interested also. I just have one slight problem. I am technically
impaired. I wouldn't know a USB if it bit me. Grin
I also have a question for you. How far away can you get with your wireless
keyboard? I didn't realize that you could leave the room with them.
Here is the message from Marco:

if people want to get it for slightly cheaper, check it out on ebay. I
bought
mine through ebay, and including shipping paid $74. you can also get one
that
connects up to your computer through the sound card and runs on 3 AA
batteries.
i recommend strongly though getting the USB version 3.0 though. you won't
look
back. absolutely fabulous product. if you go to
www.ebay.com
 type in the
following item number.
5731473129
or
5137022100
i got mine in 2 weeks shipped directly from the united states to melbourne
australia, which i felt for the price and the excellent customer service
from
this particular ebayer was fantastic. he appears to have it as a buy it now
price now for $39.95, so i would strongly urge you to jump on at that price.
cheers.
marco.

Anyone know of such an animal?

Re: Power Screw On C-crane FM Transmitter?

2004-12-26 Thread shannon work
Hello,
I know that this has also been asked and answered before, but where can you
get this item?
some one posted that they had attempted to buy a unit like this and received
one that only transmitted 15 feet. I looked at my local radio shack and he
says that what he has was designed for a car and will only transmit 15 feet
also. I am not sure what brand that the radio shack guy was talking about I
am not sure that this guy was the one with any answers. He said that what he
had would not work on a home computer anyway.

Santa, grin, was going to put one of these under the tree for me, but since
the info didn't sound as if it would work he didn't do it.

Can any one help me find this doo-dad?

Thanks again. I hope all had a nice holiday week end.

Re: Power Screw On C-crane FM Transmitter?

2004-12-26 Thread shannon work
Thanks for the link. That is the one!!
I was reading the description and it says that you can either plug it in to
the line out of the sound card or into the ear phone jack on the speakers.
This may sound silly but if you plug it into the earphone jack on the
speakers will the speakers stop playing the sound?
If that is the case one would rather use the line out of the sound card
right?. Now for the other silly question. I have speakers hooked up now.
Where are they plugged into? I know that sounds silly but am I already using
the out line of the sound card with the speakers? I think this is a one
channel out put sound card so I am thinking that there will be only one
place for this line out. Am I right or wrong? If I am right is there a
splitter I can buy or am I going to have to get a new sound card? If I have
to get a new sound card how hard are they to install?
Sorry for all the questions. Thanks again, for all the help.

Thanks Tom,
That is kind of what I was thinking too. That I may need a new card so I'll
have two outs from it. I want my cake and eat it too. I want to listen away
from my computer and I want to still be able to hear it in the room with it.
Picky, huh! I know that if I put head phones in the ear phone jack the
speakers don't transmit sound anymore. That is what I think will happen with
this unless it is different from a set of head phones. I may just have to
wait and call them tomorrow.

Thanks again.

Thank you Lois, Gary, Paul and Tom,

When I do get my little paws on one of these I'll probably ask the question
that started this. What ever is the power screw for? I saw that there was an
answer as how to find it and how to access it with a tiny screw driver but,
Why do you want to?

I'll need to know that answer when I get my new toy!

I appreciate all the help.
Have a Happy New Year!!

Re: Hooking Up An FM Transmitter

2005-01-02 Thread shannon work
Hello Tom,

It sounds like you and I have the same issue. I only have just the one line
out or the speaker jack you call it. The solution for me is that I want the
speakers to work too so I have to get the "Y" adaptor.

It will look like a speaker plug on one end (the male plug) and it will
have two female plugs on the other end. This will allow us to have the
actual speaker plugged in to one of the female plugs and the trans miter
into the other female plug.

I haven't gotten my toy yet but I am waiting impatiently for it. Smile
