portable xm radios
I have had my XMPCR for about 4 years and really enjoy it. Now since prices are more reasonable I'm thinking about getting a portable XM radio. Since they have discontinued the Delphi MyFi It seems I have 2 choices. It is either the portable XM radios with MP3 players or the Delphi receivers with the portable kits that you wair or carry. Has any one gotten a portable xm radio lately? Which XM would be the most blindfriendly? hello jim, yes there are many different versions available. there are internal pci models plus USB models that are available like a memory stick or as a box with a USB lead coming off of it. but probably the best ones on the market are the nebula models. they all support audio description transmissions for both listening to live and for recording. this obviously depends on where you are in the world, but they do work in several countries and they are listed on their website: www.nebula-electronics.co.uk they also are aware of the needs of visually impaired people and make their software as accessible as possible. they are also about to launch a new home media centre that has 3 digital tuners plus a 500 gb hard drive within it that will work by connecting direct to a tv, via a wired network, or by wi-fi to your pc's or to tv's around the home if you connect one of their thin client receivers to the tv. i also believe that their adapters are the only ones on the market that are able to receive high definition signals. the other major manufacturer of digital pc adapters is hauppauge and their international site is: www.hauppauge.com but their models don't support audio description. pete. Would the pci card version of their tv tuner work in the stats, and if so, does it work well with Windows Media center? Any luck with using last.fm?
Has anyone successfully used www.last.fm to listen to music? Between this site, slacker.com and pandora.com being inaccessible, I am really starting to get discouraged. I am looking for some good streaming audio to listen to at work. For some reason, ACB Radio and Live365.com's media streams will not play on my PC at work, although the ones at sky.fm and Yahoo will. I cannot install Winamp or play AOL Radio because it requires installation of an app and I do not have administrative rights at work, so this will not work either. I am just a little tired of the same ole CDs and audio streams and was hoping to find another service I could use. Thanks for any insights. Hi Steve and others. I had used and loved this program for years, but unless I want to extract all tracks on a CD, which I have been doing, I cannot get Jaws to read me the track listings so I can check and uncheck the ones I want. I didn't see anything about this problem being fixed. I am wondering if it has been fixed or if anyone has found a work-around, as this is very disturbing to me since I love this program so much. I am really hoping for good news on this! yes but why can't they have a default voice setting that is not so stupid. I have never heard any thing like that in my life. What would a new pc user think of that ultra fast voice. There was a post on the Fred's Head Companion regarding this service, search at http://fredsheadcompanion.blogspot.com/ Meanwhile, I've stumbled onto http://www.accuradio.com which has a multitude of channels. It uses an imbedded player, but one that is accessible. With JAWS 8, I can set the volume, and the volume adjusts independently of the volume of EloQuence. Hi Lynn and others, I use Window-Eyes but exactly the same problem exists and unfortunately it hasn't been fixed in Easy CD DA Extractor version 10.0.6. This is one of these very frustrating situations where something has been made completely inaccessible just so the list of tracks to be ripped from the CD looks better visually. I also tried ripping a track using Winamp Pro and found that was very accessible and ripping a track was very easy but I know this still doesn't solve the problem with Easy CD DA Extractor. Hi, Thunder will just grab what ever voice you have as your default voice on your computer. Betsy, On the Volume tab, Make sure that the sound card/device from which you are recording is selected, AND that the input through which you are recording (line-in, What You Hear, etc.) is checked. mounting the ear mounted mics not on ears
Ok. I rnoq rhia ia n oss auvjwxr linw vu I want to record something wiht the inovative specialists ear mounted binaural mics bt not on my ears. I cannot have the stereo field destroyed in this case and I cannot keep my head stalk still for 90 minutes. I'm sending this boot to the bct and pc audio lists in case someone has an idea. OK, I'm probably speaking completely out of turn, but here goes. Just a question. is it possible that the "what you hear" option has been killed by Microsoft? I know that this has happened in Vista, at least to those computers that have been updated with new drivers written to do so. I'm just throwing this out, because I am hoping the answer is a big NO! . But you never know. I fully expect for my trusty Audigy Platinum to be crippled any day now. I really don't know if this is even happening to users of XP, I'm just kind of fishing for answer. yes the veronica has very professional audio quality. I have had mine sense 2001 and it works well. Now as for that hum I do get it from time to time but it is not the power suply. OK interesting. Do you run this transmitter from a line-out socket or the speaker out/headphone socket from a soundcard? I would think that if you use the speaker out of the soundcard, you would be limited to the quality of the sound card amplifier?
