Naming Conventions for Publishing Modules Only To Authors Directory
Hello, Due to genericness of keywords, couldn't find in archive: Remembered hearing about a method of naming modules that leave them in your authors directory but doesn't publish them them into the namespace indices. I'd like to upload a few things of which there are either already too many of (none of which are quite right) or I haven't recieved enough feedback on to feel comfortable littering namespaces with yet. The advantages of my module include: 1) extensibility: easier to add support for drivers, 2) modularity: factors out connection in case you don't require full DBIx::Abstract functionality, 3) abstraction: ideally you never need to use a driver-specific DSN, 4) emulation: I'm trying to emulate useful features in case a driver/database doesn't support it; for example, MySQL supports using ~/.my.cnf client configuration PostgreSQL doesn't, so I would allow the user to have such a configuration file for PostgreSQL, too. That way you have an abstract way to centralize your client connection parameters regardless of the database.

I am very flexible. How about Hardware::Power::Regulator::Plasmatronic although... Regulator = Power, maybe we could go Hardware::Regulator::Plamatronic Could also be Power::Regulator::Plasmatronic but that is not an existing name space. I am really happy with any feedback. I cam up with Device::Regulator as it seemed like the most obvious existing name space. Any suggestions ? Technically it is a company, but their products are called things like Plasmatronic 40 Plasmatronic 20 Plasmatronic 60 My code handles all of them, there is slight differences in scaling factors of the raw data, but the protocol is the same. Let me think, how to combine the words Device, Power, Regulator and Plasmatronic. How about. Device::Power::PlasmatronicRegulator; I guess the only problem with the above is if we end up one day in the future having a common Regulator API (eg: Device::Regulator) which abstracts all of them. MassMail groups users together from a mail list with like domains and attempts to locate the mailhost for that domain and will then send an eveloped mail to that domains mailhost if possilbe. If not it drops it will either drop it to a local SMTP server or will report back an error, which ever is desired. Mass::Mail can also be givin the right to run as more then one process in which case it will attempt to fork 'x' (specified by user) process to connect to remote hosts. (Believe me, if there had been really good perl software that existed for that a couple years ago, I would have jumped at the opportunity to use it.) I am also very confident about the functionality of my software (it works reliably and works well with a reasonable range of possible options). The current versions that I posted could greatly benefit from a better API. For instance, I can foresee RPM::Update working with rjray's RPM::Database. And, the subroutine name "execute" could ummm ... be better. However, in light of the RPM version 3 to version 4 transition I am hesitant to trust the RPM /var/lib/ databases beyond what the command-line usage delivers. I am very much delighted to collaborate, cooperate, see my work digested by the jaws of another programmer, etc. I am also trying to get together some DPKG-ing perl modules. I want to build my software packages in a one-line command! And, update them in a controllable one-line command! And incorporate that simplicity in a bigger effort... http://lpml.sourceforge.net/. Several hours later, I was still only capable of extracting about 40% of the open content cataloged at xmltree.com. I realized that the majority of open content syndicators are not very good at writing valid RSS XML. My goal is to write a module that extracts all the open content that is available, and be much less concerned about XML compliance. This module currently parses all but a handful of the XML URLs cataloged at xmltree.com. Rather than rely on XML::Parser, it uses heuristics and good old-fashioned Perl regular expressions. It stores the data in a simple hash structure, and "aliases" certain tags so that when done, you can count on having the minimal data necessary for re-constructing a valid RSS file. This means you get the basic title, description, and link for a channel and its items. Anything else present in the hash is a bonus :) This module extracts more usable links by parsing "scriptingNews" and "weblog" formats in addition to RDF & RSS. It also "sanitizes" the for best results. The munging includes: - Removing html tags to leave plain text - Eliminating objectionable characters - Using tags when is empty - Using misplaced urls in when is empty - Ripping links from if required - Limiting content to http/ftp links - Joining relative urls to the site base In the near future I plan to strengthen the weblog parsing, and add a routine to generate valid RSS output from the result hash via XML::RSS, plus contact

The Windows security model has changed since that was written. Likely what happening is windows vista/2008 security is preventing the script from copying the files into the locked Windows system directory - you will likely need to run the command window using the "run as administrator" option then execute the installation from that. let's talk about SOAP::WSDL!
Hello, I would like to take over the SOAP::WSDL distribution. It's a terrible module, and I'm a terrible module maintainer, so it's a perfect match. It looks like the author hasn't appeared in six years (or maybe ever): https://rt.cpan.org//Dist/Display.html?Queue=SOAP-WSDL I dropped him an email the other day at his email address listed in the POD offering to help with a bug fix release. I haven't heard back in early 22 HOURS. I have little intention of turning it into something wonderful, but I'm pretty reasonable about dealing with requests that come through github, and I spent a day fixing the bugs that keep tests from passing on 5.19.9 (which is the version that all of the cool kids run). https://github.com/scrottie/SOAP-WSDL/commits/master I even tried not to use too many swear words, though I really wanted to. This thing was written with excessive cleverness. I feel that this is an important module with a lot of business application that should be kept basically working, and at least the documentation updated with its problems and limitations.
