Re: [MlMt] Inline CSS Error
Hi Henry Thanks for this. My HTML Sigs also seem OK. I get the error while I’m composing from my Office365 account. This one is is coming from a private (fast mail) address and I don’t have the problem. Its like MM does something different or extra for office accounts, and that triggers the problem. And, since sanitize-html is an external program, it might be something configured bad on my Mac. Re: [MlMt] Inline CSS Error
Hi Benny and Henry Yes that was the problem - I rebuilt my signature so there was no stylesheet, and now it’s good. Thanks for sorting this for me. Moral of the story: Don’t use word to create HTML signatures! Cheers Simon On 19 Aug 2022, at 18:08, Benny Kjær Nielsen wrote: On 19 Aug 2022, at 1:42, Simon Kaplan wrote: In the last few versions of MM I’ve been getting the following error as I compose: Warning: CSS inlining unexpectedly failed A JavaScript exception occurred And I get a bright orange header bar as I’m composing that says External command failed: sanitize-html Any ideas, anyone? The change in MailMate causing this is that MailMate now inlines CSS in your HTML signature before embedding it in the HTML of the message itself. This is actually MailMate trying to help you because a signature should not contain a stylesheet. (I've yet to see an example where someone did this on purpose. It's usually the result of using an entire HTML document as a signature.) That said, there might still be a MailMate bug/issue since the inlining failed. You are welcome to send me your signature (off list) and I'll see if I can reproduce it. [MlMt] Colors in mailbox menu
Hi all In today’s release (5923) Benny says | New: On macOS 11+, the Mailbox menu includes a “Symbol” menu to make it easy to change the mailbox symbol used. | This is very similar to how colors are handled. Where can I find something that explains how colours are handled? [MlMt] Suddenly, all my emails are going to junk
Hi there I've been using MM for a couple weeks now, and really loving it. But just today, after I updated to the most recent version of SpamSieve, all my emails started going to junk and a look at SpamSieve's blacklist showed that all email addresses are being added to my blacklist. I tried downgrading to the last non-beta release of SpamSieve and deleting the entries from my blacklist but that didn't help -- the addresses just get added as new messages come in... Can anyone help/any suggestions for why this is happening? (Curiously when I switched to Apple Mail and had it load the past 2 weeks email, none of the 'good' messages went to Spam (which is what you'd expect, given all the spam had already been filtered). Can anyone help/any suggestions for why this is happening? I can tell you how it works in MailMate (and essentially also in Apple Mail). The settings in the Security preferences pane determine which messages are given to SpamSieve for analysis. Anything scoring above 50 (0-100) is marked as junk and moved to the “Junk” mailbox of the account. If you explicitly (or using a rule) move a message to “Junk” (or mark it as junk) then MailMate also tells SpamSieve about this. So it looks like its a MM problem rather than a SpamSieve problem) Since Apple Mail behaves differently then it sounds like you have some kind of rule triggering MailMate to mark your messages as junk. I am not sure anybody would really be interested in this re-organisation but I thought to share just in case. So, you might be interested in this if you have similar thoughts as mine: - I like using MM through my keyboard shortcuts (e.g. to navigate mailboxes). - I like saving up space on the monitor - I also like having the email I am interested right in front of me, rather than next to one of the screen edges (right edge for the Widescreen layout, or bottom for the others). Because of this I don't need: - the full list of mailboxes to be always available for me to mouse-click - all the horizontal space dedicated to the mail listing - the actual mail body shifted to the bottom right because of all the space occupied by the Mailboxes vertical bar and by the Correspondence bit. Here's how I edited Correspondence (link on imgur.com): One idea was also to include an additional panel showing only the attachments in the mail, for rapid access (they are always listed at the very bottom of the mail body and sometimes that's a bit annoying when I am looking through emails to find a particular attachment). The panel could be: - horizontal: for the classic "quick look"-"save" interface - vertical: for a full preview (but this would require plugins e.g. for PDFs etc). Anyway I have no idea how to query MM to return an email attachment. Benny, would something like attachments = $mainOutline.attachments work? I did not try. If there's a way to implement this I would happily give it a shot. Anyway, I attach the layout, which I named "Correspondence Shifted" because as a poet I fall quite short. The attachment is a zip file with the directory structure and the layout to place in ~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/Resources/ If you have other custom layouts already defined, make sure to merge the dirs rather than substituting yours with mine. [MlMt] Resetting URL Handlers (Yosemite)
Hi all I wonder if you could please help me. On Yosemite I’ve set MailMate to be my default mail client. If I change back to Mail.app as my default mail handler, these don’t seem to get changed back/deleted from the plist file. This is a particular problem as OmniFocus uses message: URL schemes to link actions back to their ‘parent’ email messages, so this keeps opening MailMate. (Obviously many MailMate users will not see this as a bug!) How can I force the message: URL scheme to go back to mail.app? Re: [MlMt] discussion topic: IMAP or smart mailbox?
Hi Peter Assuming you have (or can articulate) consistent rules about what goes into which folder, smart mailboxes are (in my view) much better, because I don’t much care for spending time filing. I only have these actual mailboxes: - inbox - sent items - junk (via spamsieve) - archive - sanelater (filter non-junk crud that I skim weekly using sanebox; I have a keystroke programmed to train messages from my inbox to sanebox when needed). Everything else I find I can do by search and/or smart mailboxes (essentially your ‘consistent rules’ from above become the smart mailbox criteria). I have about a dozen smart mailboxes permanently set up, and use the advanced search functionality continuously. Search has a nifty ‘save’ feature, so you can set up the searches you want and save them as smart mailboxes. Once emails are older than a year or so I shift them to eaglefiler, to keep down the volume that MM has to handle. Searching the mail list archive will turn up multiple discussions on this topic, but I think the consensus leans towards smart mailboxes and searching. cheers Simon On 15 Jun 2018, at 6:25, Peter Borsella wrote: Hello, All, I currently have hundreds of IMAP folders. [MlMt] Show images in new message view?
Hi all Silly question here - I’ve switched the latest version w/new message view. Pictures/images are now not downloaded at all, and the ‘show pictures’ button on emails seems to have vanished. Thanks Benny. The security setting was what I was looking for. (I’ve used Mailmate for years now, and have never noticed this was there… oops!) Thanks as ever for an amazing mail client, and I’m happy to wait for the button to come when you’re ready! Cheers Simon -- Simon Kaplan +61 411 511 122 “Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. I no longer recommend using the old message view in the most recent test releases because it has become unstable for some users. (I don't intend spending time on fixing it.) Silly question here - I’ve switched the latest version w/new message view. Pictures/images are now not downloaded at all, and the ‘show pictures’ button on emails seems to have vanished. The “Load Once” button has not been implemented yet, but it's a fairly high priority. I've already got several requests about it missing :) What am I doing wrong/what do I need to set so that I get my show pictures button back? You can enable “Unless messages are explicitly marked as Not Junk” in the Security preferences pane. Then use “Message ▸ Junk State ▸ Not Junk” to load images or bind a key to `markAsNotJunk:`. Or downgrade to the public release by clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane and use the “Downgrade” button. Re: [MlMt] Smart folder for Messages awaiting reply?
I use SaneBox to auto-manage my emails. One of its many features is a NoReplies folder - things in there have not been replied to. Once this is in place, a simple smart folder with ‘in the last week’ condition would give me what Ben’s after. SaneBox also auto-filters my emails in a bunch of different ways, worth a look Cheers Simon On 15 Feb 2022, at 3:19, Bill Cole wrote: On 2022-02-14 at 09:22:36 UTC-0500 (Mon, 14 Feb 2022 09:22:36 -0500) Ben Lee-Cohen is rumored to have said: Hi, hopefully this is a simple question. I’m trying to create a smart folder to surface messages I’ve sent in the last week that do not have a reply. Is there a way to achieve this with Smart Folders? Maybe... The logic would be to include sent messages less than a week old whose Message-ID doesn't appear in any Reply-To or References headers in recent messages. I'm not sure if it is possible to express that in a MM mailbox, but you might be able to work out a way. -- Bill Cole b...@scconsult.com or billc...@apache.org (AKA @grumpybozo and many *@billmail.scconsult.com addresses) Not Currently Available For Hire ___ mailmate mailing list mailmate@lists.freron.com https://lists.freron.com/listinfo/mailmate___ mailmate mailing list mailmate@lists.freron.com https://lists.freron.com/listinfo/mailmate

Are there worthwhile fixes or new features past 1.14 (5937)? Is there a particularly stable version that people are using? I see mention of Benny working on newer versions. Re: [MlMt] All mailboxes formatted as "Sent Items" (unable to disable "To" column)
Hi Christian Can report that I don’t have this problem in 5933 (the latest ‘pre-beta’) and that this version seems perfectly stable to me (at least, for my setup - 5 mail sources, on Ventura, M2 Mac). To upgrade go to preferences -> software update and hold down the option key when pressing ‘check now’ If this doesn’t work then my suggestion is delete mailmate (taking care to save things like keystroke customisations, signature plist files etc) and reinstall. The archive email list has lots of advice on how to do this safely. cheers Simon -- Simon Kaplan si...@kaplan.id.au +61 411 511 122 “Succass is not final. Failure is not fatal.
