Re: accessible utility to remove unused preference files?
Hey there 1. Open the application. 2. Either his vo m or hit command o. THen browse to the program e.g applications>skype. 3. Navigate to open, do vo space. This should bring you to a window with all the info about what is being delted, the option to delete it, etc. There it a zap button at the end, and you should be able to click it and everything should be removed with a most commical cartoonish sound. hope that helps some Tyler On 2011-02-27, at 6:53 PM, Jeff Berwick wrote: > I haven't figured out how to get Ap Zapper to work...I always figured it > wasn't accessible. It took quite a lot of getting used to for me. I went all out, getting the 15 inch macbook pro mid 2010 model with the core i7. I love it. It gets better battery life than my eee pc 900ha netbook, and just feels so beautiful when I hold it. Yep, I always thought Samantha for the I devices sounded a bit snobbish. I have this image of what she'd look like in my head, I won't go into it, but it cracks me up every time. Heres another point of view. I want elequence when I read - booksense, stream, etc. No, stop with those real sounding voices, I want doubletalk, I want voices that don't pause at random. I want doubletalk or elequence. Good thing I have 4 book ports...oh, and 60 hours of battery life. Sorry for getting off topic, but that's a pet peve of mine. Re: accessible utility to remove unused preference files?
Hi there. In app zapper, press command o when you open the program. As in any open diologue, navigate to the applications folder, using the file browser usually works best for me, and go to the program you want to get rid of. Now stop interacting with everything (if you were), go to the open button. Hit vo space and then you'll get a list of all asociated files. You can interact with this list to check them out, and you can uncheck and check as you like. Now, stop interacting, and go to the zap button. Hit vo space. It should go bye bye with that 'zap!' sound I mentioned before. Let me know if this helps... Keep in mind that app zapper has no real starting window when you open it. Re: iPad 2
This is just what I've heard. The cameras on it suck - as was and is the case with the ipod. Then again, I have no idea why a camera should be a huge deal, but it is - I mean, you're not taking pictures with the thing, are you? Yet so many reviews ripped it to shreds because of it... I want a braille pen!!! >From what I read they are nice, and the focus 40 blue, when I tried it at >least, had one of the worst keyboards I've ever used - even worse than some >phones! Just my oppinion, but if I'm paying for something at that price I want it to feel somewhat pricy, as well - the plasticky feel of the focus didn't impress me much. The buttons on said keyboard felt like just that, buttons. There was hardly any movement to them, it was as though I was pressing the on off button. So my fingers cramped quite quickly. Re: an update on what audio hijack devs had to say with there latest version.
My highjack is still very screwed up...I have no idea what is causing this. Good thing I haven't bought it. Was hoping to try doing a radio show from this thing. Looks like that will be a fail. I've been so tempted to do that lately. And yeah, funny enough, a few people had the keyboard problem - I know I did, and Rick Harmon did as well. And it's funny, they're not doing anything about droid customers. I wonder if they charge for hotspot on the iPhone and on the droid it's free? Also, is it true that the iPhone will only be able to have one device connected to it and that device will be locked to it? If so, I will not be happy - that's seriously limiting. Re: macbook air vs ipad 2
I have the 15 inch core i7 mid 2010 model of macbook pro. I love it. I can't wait to get my paws on the air. This thing is a total workhorse. I've only cranked it up to 100 percent processor a few times, and I unplugged just to see. An hour and 40 minutes, and considering the fact screen was at 100 percent and I was video chatting with my partner, I think that's pretty awesome. Get me a windows core i7 that can do this and I'll buy it, but for now I know why apple is king of battery life in terms of computers. I mean, they put an i5 in the new 13 inch macbooks, which I hinted and hinted my partner should buy. He finally did and, connected to the internet with nothing running, it got around 8 hours. Incredible. These things will just get better over time. If that 13 in had a solid state...wowy. Ok, enough of my ranting, just my thoughts. vmware fusion problems
Hi, yall First of all...sorry about the number of messages I sent out. I'm addicted to the command r command, it seems - so I'll refrain from that in the future. I usually leave my mac at school during the weekend, so having to go home and not check email kind of hurts. Anyway, I got my paws on a copy of windows 7 the other day and am just getting to installing it in fusion. So it's working great, I got narrator running, which is all I wanted to do tonight, anyway. Now, however, I would like to stop my xp vm from starting automatically - is there a way of doing this? This is frustrating. thanks a lot. Oh, and another question...is it easy to bootcamp windows? Especially in particular windows 7? Is the interface accessible (hold down C key when booting, wait for the cd to stop, and if a USB headset or what not is inserted when you do boot will hitting option (windows) U turn the utilities on on the windows cd to start instatlion of windows? I've never installed windows 7 before, so I'm curious. thanks for any input TYler -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. It happens constantly to me and I don't know why. Especially when loading up larger websites. Then, when I try and navigate it before it's ready, it can sometimes crash for no particular reason. I usually give up in frustration and go to Internet explorer in fusion, because I almost always have windows doing something (usually it's irc, and mudding which I use it for). hth...somewhat? Re: Question about backup software
Not sure if CCC has that feature, but it saves a lot of time. Smart update figures out what files on the external have been modified, so it says hey, we don't need to add them. So theoretically backups can take minutes instead of hours. Hmm, this is just a suggestion, but what about best buy? I know, I know. That probably sounds bad - though my partner was able to buy a mac at a place called microcenter in the US for $100 cheapter than in the apple store. The apple store couldn't match him when he took the flyer there, but best buy could, and saved him driving an hour to microcenter. Just a thought or two - shop around. It might help. Re: O M G, it's beautiful
Wait, that thing is a 2.7? Wow. I gotr the mid 2010 15 inch macbook pro with the 2.66 ghz core i7. I can't wait for you to get that thing because I want to know battery life. This thing will outlive me, and it's my first mac. I jumped ship and spent $2000, and haven't looked back since. My netbook is mainly used on the road now because I haven't the money for a macbook air, but this thing is totally bad, well you get the picture. You won't regret the core i7 if it's anything like mine. This thing just rocks. I have nothing but good things to say about it. Re: O M G, it's beautiful
Macbook pro. Smaller, but the same amount of power. Seriously for what the average person uses it for, a duel core would be sufficient. Not that I'm complaining or anything, since I got the core i7 and it surely does come in handy. Battery life is a bit less than I'd hoped, but what am I expecting? A comporable windows computer would never get even 3 hours like this thing, and I saw this hit 7 with bluetooth and wifi off. Re: Converting video files
Yep, using adapter was the first time I got the fan to come on on this thing. Heres another question - where exactly is the fan? I heard it's in the keys of the keyboard, but how can that be? I fell no air moving. thanks On 2011-03-13, at 6:37 AM, Chris Norman wrote: > Hi All, > I went with mpeg streamclip, because it was the first in the list of > messages LOL, but I'll be checking out adapter too, when I get a > chance. > > Lovely stuff, now converting 4 jobs in parallel, and my Macbook's > finally showed it's fan. > > Thanks for all the help guys, as always, spot on! > > Cheers, and take care. > > On Mar 12, 2:52 pm, Chris Norman wrote: >> Hi all, >> I fear this may be a bit of a stupid question, as I've done this before, but >> can't remember how! :P >> >> I need to convert a large number of AVI files into M4V, so I can play them >> on my iPod / iPhone. >> >> Any ideas? >> >> Cheers, >> >> Take care, >> >> Chris Norman >> Email and MSN: chris.norm...@googlemail.com >> Skype [and iChat]: chris.norman7[@mac.com] > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "MacVisionaries" group. > To post to this group, send email to macvisionaries@googlegroups.com. > To unsubscribe from this group, send email to > macvisionaries+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. > For more options, visit this group at > http://groups.google.com/group/macvisionaries?hl=en. > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: Sharpkeys in Win 7
I've been wondering that myself. Will be interesting to find this out, as I'm thinking of buying 7. May do a vm, then bootcamp. Hmm.
