Re: DAISY Player for the Mac/iPhone

2012-03-27 Thread Tim Emmons
Wait, you can't get read2go to work with Braille? i do it successfully using a
refreshabraille, you just have to turn read2go's audio off and when you click
the read button the book comes up fine. You also can use voiceover, with it in
this fashion as well and have it read by section instead of by page if you're
using just speech. If you're using braille by page works, your next and
previous page is at the end of each page of text. But, I too would lo e to see
a daisy something work with any of these devices, bookshare is getting a decent
start though. Sorry, I had to jump in here with this one, but give that a try
if you can and see how that works out for you. take care.

Re: podcast app

2012-07-02 Thread Tim Emmons
Hey guys, just to chime in, I'm using downcast as well. the Podcast app, seems
clunky at best compared to downcast. Podcasts app freezes on me when I played
with it and I promptly deleted it and went back to downcast and have had no
problems. Now if I can just figure out how to save podcasts and possibly put
them in the cloud for later since there are some music podcasts that I would
like to keep around, then I'd be all good, but other than that, no complaints,
loving downcast, Apple could take note from the creator of downcast. Take care
guys, talk to you soon.

Curious question

2014-02-03 Thread Tim Emmons
Hi guys, I know this has been gone over quite a bit here, but I've not paid
attention in a while. Being the father of a five month old, I'm kept pretty
busy with helping my wife and helping take care of my son, Lol. Anyway, what
I'm curious about is this and guys, just bare with me. i don't ask very often,
but I gain a lot of info from here but this is just a curiosity. Part of it is
for me, but a major part is for a patron of mine wanting to find a good music
service. Between all of them, iTunes Radio, Spotify, Pandora, Slacker, iHeart
Radio, etc. which ones or one would you recommend over all of them, is iTunes
radio actually gotten better than it was at first touted to be? I kind of like
it because it does carry across all my devices but I know everybody has their
opinions and I'm just curious to see what those opinions are. Thanks and again
like I said, it's probably been covered, I know Rhapsody was a topic here
recently and it's almost unusable not quite so but close especially when you
can't get to the search bar to type in an artist, but I digress. I like Songza,
as well, but iTunes seems to have a fairly big library but just curious. Thanks
guys and hope to hear from you guys soon and get some interesting feedback.
Take care and talk to you soon.

iTunes radio and resetting stations to default

2014-02-11 Thread Tim Emmons
Hi guys, just curious. How does one if there is a way, delete likes and such
from the iTunes Radio stations, and reset history to basically start from
scratch. I know Pandora has their seed sand such hidden and hard to get too,
but I hear iTunes radio is easier to do that with but not sure how to do that.
I'm finding some really finding a few things that are at least catching my
attention if not winning me over completely. I'm curious to know what everybody
else's thoughts are on iTunes radio, just in general. I have a lot to keep me
entertained during the day while I work, but I've always been curious about
everybody's thoughts as to Tunes Radio. It is accessible but I could go on for
hours about pros and cons of all of them, lol. Thanks and take care y'all. Hope
everybody is doing well.

Re: iTunes radio and resetting stations to default

2014-02-11 Thread Tim Emmons
I like that And, I found out you can go station by station if you like and
clear out your likes or whatever and start from scratch, but they don't offer a
clear all on that one yet, but it's doable. I'm finding things, and I may be
the only one thus far, but I'm finding things more and more, that I'm really
starting to enjoy about iTunes Radio the more I'm digging into it, and it's ten
dollars cheaper a year if you subscribe to Match, than Pandora, so that's an
attention getter too. Plus, ease of use to like or dislike from my control
center or lock screen, streams on my apple Tv, and a 27 million song library as
opposed to a million in Pandora, and 20 Million in Spotify or thereabouts from
what I've been looking at. I'm finding it more and more, nice, Lol. But, that's
just me. I'm curious to know what everybody else thinks. Take care and have a
good one.

Changing from Gmail to iCloud

2014-02-19 Thread Tim Emmons
I'm strongly considering changing my email from Gmail to iCloud, just because
since all my devices now are apple products and I use iCloud constantly now. Is
it difficult to possibly move everything over, and say change email for
Facebook and all that good stuff? Just curious, I've not configured iCloud
enough times yet to know the ins and outs. Thanks and take care.

One more question bout changing to iCloud

2014-02-19 Thread Tim Emmons
Hi guys, one more question and I'll put this to bed. I already have an Apple iD
set up with my Gmail account. If I change and start using my iCloud account, do
I have to chabngemy apple ID as well or can I still use that same apple Id,
even if I stop using that email account. Just trying to figure out the best
approach. Thanks and sorry to bug everybody with this one, iCloud as far as
mail goes is a little different than I'm normally used too. Thanks and take
care.

Thanks Terresa, I appreciate you getting back to me. I didn't see this before I
posed my other question, Lol. zI want to change my email and hopefully not have
to change my apple Id, sort of leave it the way it is since I'm getting my
iTunes match under that Id and what not, but just trying to make mail a tad bit
more manageable. Thanks for giving me the suggestions though and i'll
definitely be doing that in steps, it might be easier that way. Thanks again
and sorry for sounding like a newbie, but just trying to get it all figured
out. Take care and talk to you soon.

Re: a quick question about the bard mobile ap

Hey Dana, once you've put them on your wish list, go back to get books within
the Bard ap, and in that section you see wish list and however many items are
there. Double tap there, and select your book from the list, double tap the
book and it will ask you are you sure you want to download, and say Ok, and it
starts downloading. Hope that helps. And, hope you're doing well. Take care and

Re: Brailliant 40 not pairing

Make sure you're not pairing just by going into bluetooth. YOu want to go into
Voiceover and select a braille display that way. If you're just looking through
bluetooth it's going to miss it. If I missed something somebody correct me but
you're going to want to hit that through voiceover in the voiceover utility and
the braille tab. Take care and hope that helps. Talk to you soon.

A few questions.

2015-02-26 Thread Tim Emmons
Ok, not sure if this went through earlier but I’m going to resend it hopefully
without all the random. Forgive the crossposting but I’m stumped. I was trying
to find a DrM removal tool to read Kindle books in Voice Dream, and in the
process realized that I needed to possibly find out how to move around in
documents and data to transfer things to my phone, say to Voice Dream, or
remove a book from Kindle, to run through the protection tool since I don’t
think the version of Kindle for the Mac is accessible, and have hit a brick
wall. Can someone direct me in all this where to find the tools necessary, how
to get to documents and data running the latest iTunes 12.1 running the latest
Yosemite, and an iPhone 5 S running iOs 8.1.3. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks again and take care y’all.

Re: spotify

2015-03-23 Thread Tim Emmons
The only way so far guys, for Spotify to run on the desktop is if you have the
premium subscription and can use the connect menu. You choose your computer
from the list and it sends all control to the Mac or Pc app. However, if you
perform searches or playlist stuff, you have to interface it through the app
but you can stream it through the computer independently through their connect
menu. Hope this helps and possibly clears some things up. Take care and talk to
you soon. PS, I used it for a while but ended up going back to iTunes Radio
because I don’t have to work at it so hard to get what I want out of it, just a
little tweaking here and there and I can get all I want and more, plus I can
interface it from anything I use from the apple Tv, to my mac, iPhone and iPad.
Thanks and take care. Talk to you soon.

Re: Apple TV Connection Question

2015-07-15 Thread Tim Emmons
Actually it does if you watch say netflix or anything like that and it doesn’t
see that Tv side of things, it will tell you that your cdmi cable isn’t plugged
in properly or something to that effect. I’ve ran into that a bit when I first
got my bar, so I’m always careful about that. Now, if I’m air playing or
streaming music using iTunes radio or something, it doesn’t seem to bother it
but movies like from Crackle andnetflix will cause it to scream at you. Anyway,
take care guys. Talk to you soon.

I have my apple tv plugged into the optical out. I can also use the bluetooth
feature of my sound bar if i so desire with my phone or my iPad. (apple Tv
doesn’t have a bluetooth out like that) but the remote is easily laid out and
easy to navigate. I have the Samsung Airtrack, and it does fairly well for what
I use it for. Hope that helps.

Re: blackboard Collaborate.

2015-08-03 Thread Tim Emmons
The huge, resounding, echoing answer, is no. Lol. Seriously I ran into using it
while trying to help with an online class earlier this year and it doesn’t like
Voiceover, or the mac. At all. I’ve emailed them about it but have never heard
back as to what they’re doing to make it so but it definitely is a bust when it
comes to accessibility. I haven’t had much chance to try other stuff like it so
if someone has any further insight, please feel free to chime in. Thanks guys
and take care. Sorry Sarai, I know it’s not what you wanted to hear, but that’s
what we got. Lol. Take care and talk to you soon.

Returning back to my old iTunes Radio and getting out of apple Music

2015-08-27 Thread Tim Emmons
Guys, I have a question and maybe somebody can help answer it. I am not hugely
impressed with Apple Music and want my old iTunes Radio back or something close
to it. how do I get rid of Apple Music, and not only see the radio stations
that they have but be able to see and create my old stations as I used to have
them, or can this be done anymore. I can see the old stations I had on my Apple
Tv, and I’ve seen them once or twice on the mac. But, I don’t know how to get
to the old stuff on my phone. Also, I don’t see where you can edit your
stations anymore or fine tune them but not sure if I’m just missing something
or what. Just curious if I can go back and how. Thanks and take care.

Old-time Radio listservs

2015-09-14 Thread Tim Emmons
guys, I have a question and I hope everybody doesn’t mind. I apologize for the
cross-posting and I know that for some of these lists this is going to be way
off topic but I wanted to ask and if you want to take clutter off the lists,
please, email or contact me privately off the list so as to avoid clutter and
off topic stuff that might ensue. I have rediscovered and fallen in love again,
with old-time radio. I love listening and finding new programs and when Bard
went down this is what kept me entertained for hours on top of course, of
everything else, chasing a two-year old, (my son) and other numerous things.
Lol. But, I wanted to know if there might be a list or lists out there devoted
to Old-time Radio, programs, and all that type of thing. I wasn’t sure where to
look but I’m curious. If anyone can let me know, that would be awesome or point
me in the direction that would be great. I started using Vintage Radio, an app
in the App store, and I did their yearly subscription of $19.99 for their whole
catalog which is huge but I can’t ever get enough of this stuff. Lol. I was a
member of a list a long long time ago, but life and things in general at the
time had gotten in the way of getting the cDS back but I don’t know that the
mp3 CdS make their rounds like they did back in the day, but I’m curious.
Thanks again guys and if you know of anywhere to point me in the direction
please let me know. Thanks again and again sorry for the off topic cross posts
on some places but just trying to get an idea here. Thanks again and take care.

Voiceover acting very oddly

2016-04-11 Thread Tim Emmons
Ok folks, I have a weird one and I need some direction. I’m running the latest
El Capitan release 10.12. whatever It think I can’t remember the number
exactly, but running a Mac book pro with 16 Gig of memory and a pretty hefty
hard drive. I noticed this this morning and this has never happened until
today. When I start voiceover, it works fine. But, my volume keys aren’t
working properly and voiceover goes away sometimes and it takes a total reboot
to get it back to where it needs to be. I’m not sure what’s happening but it
just goes away and things on the keyboard get sluggish and then totally
disappears as if it weren’t there. I’m not sure what is going on. If I try to
change voices it does the same thing. I have been using Alex but I’m not sure
if that has anything to do with it or not as I tried to change that to
something and it did it even with Nuance’s Tom and possibly with Bruce if I
remember correctly. I didn’t know if there was something I was missing today
not enough coffee and all but I thought this was weird behavior. As of this
moment it’s running Ok writing this email but if I try to do anything with my
volume I might lose it. Also my volume buttons used to work as of Friday. I’ve
not ran the system over the weekend but as of this morning, they’re not working
or behaving as they should. Does anybody have any idea what’s going on and if
there’s a fix or is this a bug that cropped up. I have been part of the beta
program and it may be a beta thing but I haven’t looked at that this morning.
In the plance I took earlier I didn’t see a new update there but you never know
with these things. But, I was stumped so wasn’t sure what was up. Does anybody
have an idea and can I fix this relatively easily? Thanks and take care.

Voice dream Reader and Moving books from iBooks to iCloud drive or dopbox

2015-09-24 Thread Tim Emmons
Ok guys, I am stumped, I know there is a possibility of this but I don’t know
how. I’ve done it, once. And once was all a while back. I want to move a couple
books from my iBooks to say, either Dropbox or iCloud Drive in order to use
them with Voice Dream reader. These are unprotected EPub so I know they would
work, but I forget how to do the move. Any idea? Thanks and any help here would
be appreciated. Take care.

Labeling buttons in an app on the mac

2015-09-25 Thread Tim Emmons
Hi guys, have a curious quick question. Using iHeart Radio on the Mac, I think
I’ve figured out the buttons, but they’re not labeled. How does one go about
relabeling buttons in an app on the mac. I can do it on the phone all day long
but when it comes to the mac desktop I’m clueless. thanks and take care.

Re: Need help with navigating a problematic web site

2015-10-07 Thread Tim Emmons
Turn off your quick nav, and use your arrows once you’re in that group. I had
to work with it but it works and is probably the most accessible flavor of the
player they’ve ever done online. Give that a shot and let me know if you have
any further trouble but after tinkering that’s what I came up with and it works
like a charm. Thanks again and take care.

Actually if you’re not using quick nav, get to the group, interact, and don’t
use left and right arrows inside the group. Use up and won. See where that gets
you. Remember, volume up, volume down. It’s a little odd but it does work. See
what happens with that and if you still get stuck email me back and I’ll see
what else I might be missing. In the meantime I’m getting more coffee so that

2015-10-07 Thread Tim Emmons
Ok guys, here it is. Get to the Adjust volume group. interact twice. You’re
going to interact the first time and see a slash link, or an adjust volume.high
Png Link, or something to that effect. Interact there, make sure quick nav is

Re: No way to Post to Facebook through Notification Center in El Capitan

2015-10-08 Thread Tim Emmons
Once you get your post finished, do the control tab method, get to post, and
turn quick nav off. Then, hit the space bar and it posts as normal. That’s the
only way I got it working consistently. Give that a shot and hopefully that
will help. Take care.

Curious apple music question

2015-10-14 Thread Tim Emmons
Good morning guys. I probably already know the answer but in my not enough
coffee stupor this morning I may not be looking at it properly. Is it possible
or will it make Apple music funky, to renew on a month by month basis as it
were with Apple Music, say, one month get it and if I can’t afford it, switch
it off for a month or two and then switch it back on through auto renew when I
can swing it again? I didn’t know if that threw some of these things like that
off or not. Thanks and sorry for being lame this morning. I’m working on the
caffeine and haven’t played with it too closely yet today. Thanks again and
take care.

Driver question

2013-11-13 Thread Tim Emmons
Hi guys, I have a situation and any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a
Romeo Pro 50, on a Mac mini running Mountainlion. I am using Louis Braille the
free translator, and a usb to serial or parallel not sure which one, I think
it's the latter, anyway. I have the printer connected, and know the printer is
communicating with the mac. I tried to add printer and picked something and it
shot out a ton of gibberish so I know that even though that wasn't the right
driver it does communicate with the connector and the Mac. We have migrated
from windows here at work, and I really don't want to have to go back and use
duxbury and windows for just this, if possible. Is there a driver, that will
work to make the Romeo pro 50 single-sided printer work with the mac as an
embossing option under Louis braille, or am I totally missing something. I know
that there are no braille translation solutions for the mac outside of the
Louis braille and not even sure it is still being supported even though it is
an awesome addition. Anyway, if you could help that would be great. Let me know
what driver if any will work, or if there is a programmer out there that really
wants to tackle something I don't care what the driver looks like as long as it
runs. Thanks for any help you can give. Take care and talk to you soon.

Taking Mail out of notifications

Hi guys, just a quick question. How do you take mail out of the notifications

totally unrelated note, how do you get to your podcasts in iTunes. Thanks.

Ftp and Terminal mode

2014-01-21 Thread Tim Emmons
Hi guys, got a question. I haven't had any great luck with any of the free Ftp
clients as of yet, filezilla doesn't seem tow irk or maybe I'm missing
something on the setup, not sure, cyberduck might work but I can't seem to get
the download to work, but I am able to get into ftp using terminal. Once I've
established a connection, got to a main directory say for instance books, and
then the directory is divided into letters of the alphabet showing the author's
first name, how do I first navigate to that directory list, and then how do I
get a book from that author's particular listing. I am sort of new, but I like
the terminal approach but just trying to learn. Thanks for any help. take care
and talk to you soon.

Re: Has anyone got the U2 album?

2014-09-10 Thread Tim Emmons
I got it. Go to your music not the store, but to music, and look at your
purchased or under the artist. When it came out, nobody had to do anything to
grab it, it seriously automatically hit your library when they launched it. I
found it last night and was amazed at the fact that it was there that easily.
If you need more help let me know but it's already in your library. Talk to you
soon.

Curious question about iTunes support, and asking about iTunes Radio and such.

2014-11-04 Thread Tim Emmons
Hey guys. I have a curious question or two and I hope I don't sound totally
idiotic today, Lol. I wondered if A there was a general email or an email of
any sort to email iTunes support and/or iTunes radio about a few questions that
I've been curious about. With that being said, I'm going to ask the questions
here and see if I can get anybody's input on this. In iTunes Radio, is there a
way to do something like Pandora does and make a quick Mix, say mixing genres
artists and the like into one station that plays just a mix of everything? I
thought I had figured it out but when I try it with the whole play more like
this and add stuff in I can't seem to make it reflect what I've done. Also, is
there a s site or somewhere I can get info on news about iTunes Radio? I'm
really digging it recently and deciding whether I want to continue along the
lines of paying for the ad free through iTunes match, or getting something like
Beats music or what I want to do. ITunes radio is cheaper and I can get it to
play quite a lot from an artist like albums (not in order and all that but I
can get it to play a lot of consecutive things if I work with it) but was just
curious. Anyway, sorry to bore anybody just curious about a few things and
deciding on what I want to swing. I've ditched Pandora and Spotify made me
aggravated so I ditched it, and am using Beats as a trial but iTunes Radio as
my main streaming music source since I can get it on all my devices. Just
curious though. Thanks again and take care.

Re: setting up text message forwarding

2015-01-13 Thread Tim Emmons
Juliet to do this you have to set your iMessage to send to say an email instead
of just your phone number. Once the code is sent you can switch it back but I
had to do it that way in order to get it forwarded. Somebody else might be able
to make it clearer but you need to associate iMessage with an email address
long enough to get the code sent and entered then you can turn that back off.
Hope that helps. take care.

And do you know how to in- or decrease volume?

Yeah you can. Go into the more options menu beside the search for stations
field and under more options you will see the different outputs and volume
controls for headphones and other output types. Interact with whatever slider
you want to change and you can do it that way. Hope that helps.

Re: radium

2013-03-17 Thread Tim Emmons
Do you paste the url in the search field or the area you get too when you do
the command equals thing. I couldn't figure out getting the stream to play
after pasting the url. I always got to that point and the save button didn't
seem to do anything. Thanks for any pointers I can get.
