lol, Its not that bad. There is a vertical splitter that separates the messages column group which contains the messages table and the message content area which is the preview pane. Hi, I can reproduce this bug 100% of the time. When you unlock, you just press anywhere on the screen before voiceover announces the name of the last app you where focused on before you locked your device. This will launch the phone app or, what ever app happens to be in the 1st slot in your dock. Re: iPad, iPhone, Mac for the blind
Hi, I think all this really boils down to, does the screen real estate make the apps more fluid in their use, and you seem to say yes. Me, I'm not so sure. I honestly believe this is completely subjective, and also depends on what kind of apps your using. For example, garageband is much more enjoyable on an iPad, than an iPhone. But, I've met many blind people who prefer the smaller screen because its easier to pin point elements on the screen in a given app. Honestly, its just all about the screen, price, and the phone aspect. If your comparing an iPhone 4s to the New iPad, there is indeed more RAM but, I doubt this would really make much of a difference for most users. IOS manages resources so well, its almost a non issue. And, if you were to hold out for the next iPhone, it would almost certainly be running a similar processor under clocked, with the same amount of RAM. I think where the iPad really shines is in that market that use to belong to the netbook. Its relatively cheap, versatile, and ultra portable, with great battery life. I would much rather type out an e-mail on an iPad than an iPhone. But as a person who owns a Macbook pro and an iPhone 4S, I would never trade my phone for an iPad for example. And that being the case, as cool as they are, I honestly couldn't justify paying for one with my current set up. I don't think apps rendered on a large screen, except for a hand full of exceptions, tips the balance in the iPads favor if you have a Macbook and an iPhone. JMO. Re: iPad, iPhone, Mac for the blind
Hi, it really doesn't. I mean, the iPad and the iPhone 4S are both running 1.0GHZ dual core processors. The main difference the GPU is quad core. But that won't make the iPad faster as far as launching apps or anything like that. Its for handling all those pixels. lol. And the extra half a gig of RAM would count when playing those resource intensive games. Re: importing vo-preffereces in osx-lion
Hi, I think this is pretty subjective. Sure, the things you mention are bugs but, it depends on the person if they are major or not. In regards to word processing, since the voiceover team to my knowledge don't make pages or text edit, it would be more up to those people to work with the Voiceover engineers to improve accessibility. And since there hasn't been a major update to pages in over 3 years, I don't see how you could expect them to just twiddle there thumbs and not add new features just because bugs aren't fixed. I don't know, for example, all though the new voices do that pitch change thing, I would not have wanted Apple to devote all there time fixing it and never adding activities, 1 letter navigation, a new drag and drop method, etc. JMO., Ricardo Walker rica...@appletothecore.info Twitter:@apple2thecore www.appletothecore.info On Mar 30, 2012, at 2:25 AM, Jürgen Fleger wrote: > The issue is quite annoying. The thing that I find annoying in chrome is, you can't jump to links found in tables. You have to actually navigate with VO plus arrow keys to get to these links. On certain sites, I've noticed chunks of text are just missing as well. question about Apple wired keyboard with num pad.
Hi folks, I haven't used the wired Apple keyboard with num pad in years. I was wondering, does it have an FN key? If so, where? I ask because I use the f1, f2, keys etc as standard function keys. So I need the FN key to do thins like adjust volume. TIA. Re: Questions about switching from PC to Mac
I really can't argue with that. selecting text on the web is quite a chore on the Mac. I think Safari, and lack of accessibility or efficiency of a office suite for power users of such applications is the Macs greatest weakness at this point in comparison to jaws with windows. But progress is being made. If anyone has used safari with tiger or leopard, and compared that to snow leopard or Lion, they would see what I mean. lol. Or, even iWorks 2008 which was completely inaccessible, to iWorks 2009 which has some accessibility. That's why I urge everyone to write Apple sharing some of your thoughts in regards to topics like this. How else can we honestly expect Voiceover to improve without feedback. It doesn't matter how small, or insignificant the idea or complaint might be. Its been my experience that its the little things like adding a keystroke to check the time that really can enhance the user experience of a product. Re: Questions about switching from PC to Mac
Hi, I get your point but, how does using voiceover identify your disability? I mean, you could have a print impaired or be blind after all. Thats like saying opening garageband makes you a musician. :) Ricardo Walker rica...@appletothecore.info Twitter:@apple2thecore www.appletothecore.info On Apr 3, 2012, at 2:34 PM, Chris Blouch wrote: > Well, I'm not sure it would pass the 'yuck' test for many people if they > found out Apple was identifying their disability by probing their device and > not asking permission. Re: iPhone 4 or 4S
Hi, at this time, I honestly see no point in getting the iPhone 4 unless you are strapped for cash, and the phone you have now is about to give up the ghost. :). I say this because, if you can hold out to when the new iPhone is released, you can pick up the 4S at a cheaper price or, just get the latest and greatest Apple has to offer. hth Ricardo Walker rica...@appletothecore.info Twitter:@apple2thecore www.appletothecore.info On Apr 4, 2012, at 9:52 AM, Jim Gatteys wrote: > Hi all! > Not sure if I can ask this here but I am considering getting an iPhone and > was wondering what the advantage of the 4S over the 4 is. Re: Text edit and Lion
Hi, this is because text edit is opening with no document. So, if you want a new document, press command N. If you want to brows and open an existing document, at launch of text edit, you should be placed into the browser. if you press the down arrow, this should be confirmed. Hi Esther, Yup. I did. Are you running Stanza on snow leopard or Lion? I'm starting to think their is a compatibility issue with Lion. Thanks for any further assistance you can provide.
