A little problem with the 5.1 update
Dear all, I am using an iPone 4 and have just updated to the OS5.1. However, I experience the phone talking a little too much, especially when I am on a phone call. The phone will repeat my caller's number or whatever is being displayed, example (blocked). This is a little irritating and I would be most happy if someone here can point me to a setting that would stop this from happening. Hi Mike, This is certainly an idea, however, thought the OS could be made a little more intelegent. Thanks for the tip, I actually did not think about muting it. Help on keyboard problem
Dear all, I have installed several Bluetooth keyboard recently and have landed my self in a little problem. My last was to install the RIVO Bluetooth keyboard. Now when I do not want to use any Bluetooth keyboard, my iphone keyboard does not seem to respond well. This problem is present in the following situations. 1. Dialing, 2. 2. Keying in SMS, 3. 3. Keying in passwords for updating. I will be able to click the shift key, however, when typing other keys, the key board just doesn't respond. However, if I turn off the Voiceover and use it as a normal iphone, than it will be okay. Would appreciate some form of advice. RE: Help on keyboard problem
Hi Ricardo, Thanks for responding. I have already tried the following. 1. Rebooting the phone 2. Set for forget all my bluetooth keyboards. What I have not done is to use the reset to factory default. My phone is an iPhone 4 and I have upgraded to version 5.1. If I were to reset, will it go back to version 4.1? Frankly, I think it is the Voiceover that is at problem. Is that a way for me just to reinstall the Voiceover? Everything works well accept when I want to key in numbers or letters. All other work fine. I also face this problem when I reboot and would have to key in my 4 digit pin. The only way to do it is to turn off the Voiceover and get someone who can see to help me. However, when I use my bluetooth keyboard, it works okay. There are times that I do not bring along my keyboard, hence I would like to be able to use the screen keyboard as wel.. Some time back, I posted about the problem of the iPhone will repeat the caller during an incoming call. doing a three fingers double tap after taking the call will silent it. Re: best bluetooth headset
Hi Ed, I am writing in from Malaysia. Well, I had the same problem with you. After hearing from this list, I bought my self a Jabra Bluetooth headphone and I am very happy with it. This is the type that hangs on your ear with a little rubber piece that is being pushed into your ear. No wires at all and the best part is you will still be able to listen to the sounds around you. By the way, it is only on one ear. The good points are: 1.Very light, 2.Easy to pair and after pairing, the next paring is very fast. 3.After charging, it will last me more than 2 days, about ten hours per day. RE: Blue tooth headset
Hello there, I have tried several headphones. The best is still the Plantronics. The good poins are: 1. There is a voice to tell you the amount of time you can talk, 2. Also tells you to which phone it is connected to. I think you can connect to 2 phones. 3. When there is an incoming call, you answer the call with your voice. The two words are either "answer or Ignore" Therefore, it is really hands free. 4. The ear piece does not enter your ear, it just sits on the outside of your ear. Hope it helps. Waking up the iPhone with a Braille Device
Dear all, Anyone here has a braille display that is able to wake up the iphone? I would very much like to place my iPhone in a bag while just operating it with a Braille Display. Unfortunately, I have not come across one braille display that has a key to wake up the iphone or even lock the eyephone. However, the Rivo keyboard is able to do it. Thanks in advance. RE: Waking up the iPhone with a Braille Device
Hi Joanne, My problem is I would very much like to tug my IOS device in the bag and only operate from the braille display. However, some times, it will not automatically lock and I will have to take out the iPhone to press the power button. At the same time, to begin work, one will have to start the Braille Display first, then turn on the iPhone. If possible, I would like to be able to do everything from the braille display. So, if you are able to do it with one particular device, do let me know. Same should goes with the braille display. It shouldn't be a security issue at all. I have different braille displays pair with different IDevice, e.g. Iphone with Braillesense U2, and Edge with Mac and Ipad. All of the devices only work with one active connection, and you can only have one active connection for one pair of device in any given time anyway. This means, if i have my u2 and edge on at the same time, and only have my mac pairing with edge, the u2 won't suddently jump in to have a party with the mac as well. I guess, it is matter of working it out what braille display you have and what works with waking up the phone. RE: Automatic caller ID announcement, an important privacy issue with VoiceOver on iPhone
Dear all, While you are all on the topic of the caller ID anouncement, I have yet something more irritating. Not only does the phone anounce when it rings, even during the conversation it will also anounce the caller or his number. Besides muting the speech while we are on the line, is there something else that we can do? The fact is that if you wish VO to speak lower on incoming calls, you must lower the volume of the ringer alert. Otherwise turning down the volume of VO is not extremely practical since there are too many cases where you need the volume back at a normal level. And muting VO every time you are done with it? I don't think the setting is intended to be used that way. Did you see the issue where an incoming call triggers VO to speak through the speakerphone even with a headset connected? The fact is that I am not asking for an improvement here, but something that should have been there at the first place. I am far from being over concerned by privacy, but I happen to feel a little uncomfortable when VO announces the names of people that call me when I am sitting on a train, in a meeting or basically close to strangers. Iphone 6+ having bluetooth issues
Dear all, Anyone out there having bluetooth issues? I use the following bluetooth earphones. The Jabra Boost and the Voyager Edge from Pentronics The pairing has no issue at all. In fact, it pairs rather quickly. However, the issues are: 1.During a call, the earphone can automatically get disconnected. 2. at times, the phone is connected (assistance from sighted person) however, no sound comes from either the speaker nor the earphone. 3.There are times that voiceover will breakup. Tried turning on and off the phone, Tried removing and repairing, tried resetting all network settings, tried turning on and off airplainmode, I did not experience all these with earlier IOS versions. Would appreciate some info from members here. Thanks in advance Moses Choo. Malaysia As of 1st January 2016, NCBM has moved into a new office. RE: Iphone 6+ having bluetooth issues
Thanks, will such things happen on other headphones as well? I have already bought 2 headphones and both also has given me problems. If the problem persists, no point buying another headphone. I do hope this will be solved with the next IOS. RE: Iphone 6+ having bluetooth issues
Hi David, I think it is quite okay. Thanks for the further explanation. Lets wait for the next update and see how much better it would be. In the mean time, it is useable, got to keep on pairing again and again. Moses. _ From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com [mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of David Chittenden Sent: Wednesday, June 29, 2016 8:50 PM To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Iphone 6+ having bluetooth issues I am extremely embarrassed to say, I went from memory and did not remember correctly. The correct location for routing the call is: settings, general, accessibility, call routing. The choices are: automatic, earpiece, speakerphone, and handset. The nice thing about automatic is it remembers for each headset separately. The problem is that it defaults to speaker or handset during the first use of a new headset, and getting audio to route properly can be a little fiddly. Also, answering the call by pressing the headset button usually routes to the headset, whilst pressing the answer button on the phone routes to the handset.
