Hello, 1. If you are thinking of the pearl camera, I suggest that you save the money. Its rather expensive but not as accurate as a flatbed scanner.
2. I have not tried the latest version of K1000 but if you want something cheap you can go for the omnipage which is now available both for Windows and Mac.
