Changing Email Accounts For This List
Hi everyone. I've CC'd this also to the Viphone mailing list because this is a question for both lists. Lately, Gmail when using POP has become erratic. Sometimes I get a good week when all my emails are coming in and sometimes I don't get emails for like a week or two. I'm coming to the conclusion that Gmail has become unreliable. This is not just on the Mac like other people have reported, but also on Windows using the SamNet and Microsoft Outlook 2007 clients. I have another email account that I'm considering using for my emails and might even consider closing my Gmail account because, like I said, Gmail has become unreliable. That account is bbssh...@samobile.net. So my question is, how would I go by changing my email address from Gmail to this one? Please send your replies to bbssh...@samobile.net because if this issue with Gmail keeps up, God knows when I'll get your replies. Thanks. -- Shawn Sent from my white MacBook using SamNet -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Considerations for a Clean Install…
Hello all, Ever since Mavericks, I have had the following problems which others don't seem to have: 1. Speech is choppy and pauses randomly. This is not all the time, but often enough to be annoying. 2. Apps take up to thirty seconds to launch. 3. The system just feels sluggish overall. Am I alone in these? If so, would a clean install help matters? What can I do to help the restoration process after the install? I have both Crashplan and a local Time Machine backup, so I can get my personal files back. My question is more about apps and settings. For instance, how could I restore my iTunes library, which I spent days manually tagging, or the customizations I've made in apps like Key Remap, or my saved bookmarks in Safari, and so forth? I know that the Mac does not use a Windows-style registry, so restoring will not be as tedious as it would be on Windows, but I've never done this before. If I should give it a try, what should I know before I begin? Re: Considerations for a Clean Install…
1. Make sure you back your bookmarks and contacts to Icloud. Talk about saving you a ton of trouble later. 2. Get all your software license keys as .rtf files and back them to the cloud also using Text Edit. 3. IF you have Drop box, back all your app disk images there. Now, you should be ready to do the clean install. For my part, I noticed that with the initial roleout of 10.9, apps did indeed open very slowly: but now, with the advent of 10.9.1, apps do seem to be more snappy to open then before and performance is more stable. Safari Bookmarks Sharing Through The iCloud
Hello All, I was under the impression that if I toggled the option in the iCloud settings on my iPhone for Safari that my bookmarks would show up on my Mac Air and vise versa. However, this is not happening. Are there particular settings in either the Mac Air or the iPhone that need to be looked at? It would be nice to have the Cloud make my bookmarks available on both devices. Any suggestions that would allow this to happen would be terrific Thanks in advance. Re: Considerations for a Clean Install…
1. if you purchased apps in the Mac App Store, then you have nothing to worry about, you can just redownload them when your restore is finished. 2. If you have 3rd party apps, save your activations and most recent version of them on a usb hard or thumb drive. 3. as for your iTunes library. You should save it to an external hard drive. That way you can copy the content back to your mac once the clean install is done. Hope this helps. possible solution to the voiceover problem
Hi guys: None of the solutions to no voiceover when waking my mac seem to work reliably. So, on the advice of a friend who found this tip on a forum (no audio after waking isn't unique to the voiceover community) I tried the following. Note: This may have been offered as a solution before, and i don't know why it works, but here it is. Further note: I've only tried this twice so far, but it worked 100 percent of the time as of this writing. Simply go into system preferences. Under the energy preferences category, uncheck the box that says put hard disks to sleep when possible. That's it. Curious to know if this works for others, and even more curious to know why this seems to solve the problem. Thanks! DFTBA! John D. Re: possible solution to the voiceover problem
Hello John. My hard disk is never asleep nor is anything else, as I kept having trouble with Voice Over. As I don't have a external battery in my I Mac accept for an internal battery to do with the clock or something, I felt that I didn't have to worry about putting the Mac to sleep. Probably one of the reasons I don't have problems with voice Over any more. Thanks. Kawal. Sent from my iPhone > On 22 Dec 2013, at 10:47 pm, "John D. iMud (the accessible MUD client) has moved to the iPhone!
the OSX version of iMud is looking good, I have a little entitlements problem to fix with iTunes connect but it’s no big thing. Other than that it looks like iMud is almost ready to put on the app store! That being said the bigger news is that iMud is looking good on iOS so far, I’ve got a few accessibility things I need to hammer out before I can officially open it up for beta testing but I will be shooting another message to the group in the near future asking for iOS beta testers. Accessibility on the iPhone is a lot different so to say pulling this off in a 100% accessible way will be hard is an understatement. It shouldn’t be incredibly difficult, however, to at least get a useable version up and running in the near future. The biggest goal is to minimize on typing (that’s for both blind and sighted users). I have a few ideas on how to do that but it’ll be an experience for sure. I encourage any ideas on a clever design for making a MUD client on the iPhone something new and spectacular :) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: command for app delete.
Nope. Just did some googling. I'm thinking I might have to give one of them a try but I'll probably just go with a free one. Most apps can just be deleted by throwing them in the trash. Maybe some preference files might linger somewhere on my drive but they shouldn't have much impact so it's not worth my time to clean all that out. That said, if a free app might clean that up for me, it might be worth a try. CB On 12/20/13 10:06 AM, Janet Ingber wrote: Hi Chris, Thanks for all these apps. Do you have a favorite one? Hi: Slide to set up on any of the languages. It will default to english at that point and you can then confirm your language selection on the screen that follows after you slide. Hope that helps. Re: iMud has been submitted to the mac app store
Ah, thanks. I shall expect much for that cost, like detailed, high quality sound packs for popular muds such as alter aeon, mirioni, and so on. I really can't wait to try them! Also, for the iOs version, have the sound packs optional, so that the user could download the soundpacks required. Re: Navigating iTunes Radio on the Mac
Hi Tracy, Thanks for your detail instructions on how you navigate in iRadio. The lightbulb finally went on and I have been successful in playing the artists music. The keystroke VO-J has been most helpful in obtaining pertinent information regarding what's currently playing. This has made a world of difference. Thanks.
