Re: Error Google drive folder is missing
Hi Tim and others, I contacted Google and got a call and a email. It was all the same info that Tim all ready gave me. Sadly I still can't get the Google Drive back up. I never get a new installation and never get to enter my credentials again. I tried the recent suggestions including turn off at log in and it is acting the same way. Thanks for tips and thoughts. With Google Drive I've tried every trick I can think of and nothing has worked. I have tried to find the latest version as at one point it said I was using a out dated version and needed to get the new one. It didn't seem to tell me where to get it though. So I found it with Google and then tried to install with no luck. I then tried increasingly drastic steps finally completely shutting down and Deleting the app. I then deleted the folder from my Mac. I then installed again and yes the same error message shows up in the Mountain Lion Extra's menu. I'm hoping someone can at least confirm Google Drive works in Mountain Lion and if possible give some tips as to how they got it working. Re: Fleksy
Fleksy is brilliant. It should be built into ios. For the first time since getting my iPhone, I feel happy about sending lots of text messages and longer emails. I can also now text when I am walking or out in busy environments. It is so much quicker and takes much less concentration than the standard on screen method. It cost me e£10. 48 when I bought it from within the app. Well worth it though. Sent from my iPhone On 18 Aug 2012, at 03:52, "Christina C." wrote: > I just purchased it for $4.99. Yay! Re: Error Google drive folder is missing
Hi Eric, One more thing to try. 1. Go to your Finder. 2. Up to the Go menu. 3. Hold down your VO keys and go down the menu until you hear "Library", press return. If your VO keys are not down at this time, the Library option will not be heard. 4. Locate the Application Support folder and open it. 5. Within that folder, locate the Google folder and open it. 6. From within that folder, locate the Drive folder and Trash it. Empty your Trash. This hopefully should remove any certificates and other data that is binding your Google Drive account. Restart your computer and begin the Google Drive installation process again. Make sure that your Google Drive folder does not exist in your Home Directory before beginning the reinstallation. If this still doesn't work, are you able to wait until Tuesday or so? I'm out of town right now and have a brutal Internet connection so can't do some of the testing I'd like to do to assist you. how do I rename a file?

Hi all, In mail, I am getting a great many false positives in my junk mail. When I mark one as "not junk", it remains in my junk mail. Undo in Mail Doesn't Work Very Well
Hello, This has been a problem for a while, but thought I'd bring it up now. Sometimes I can undo a message I just deleted. However, sometimes I cannot, and there doesn't seem to be any rule to suggest when I can or cannot. In addition, and quite annoyingly, even if I do undo, sometimes the message,a after a few seconds, just disappears from my inbox for no reason. Does anyone else have this problem, and is there a way to fix it, or is it just a bug? Re: Fleksy
The free version just lets you practice, you can't do anything with the text. The paid version allows you to copy the text into any app, tweet, email, or message. I'm looking forward to using the app mostly on my touch, because I have no dictation on that device. Have you tried the free version? I say give it a whirl. When I first heard about this app, I thought, nah, it won't speed me up. Turns out, I think it really does, besides it is fun to finally be able to type with my 2 thumbs flying around the screen. :) I will say 2 things. For me personally, I would not have bought the app at full price. I have Siri and dictation on my phone, and the app isn't built-in yet. I understand why it isn't built-in, but it makes a difference. Re: Fleksy
Hi Tracy, Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree, having dictation and Siri, along with the fact that you have to copy the text where you want it make the app less interesting. (And I like the emoticons, too.) :) I hadn't even looked at it when it was $15, but am thinking about it at the lower price. Maybe I'll spend more time practicing before I make a decision. Re: Fleksy
I thought the same things. Actually, having to coppy and paste is in my opinion it's only down side, but it isn't the app developers fault, its a limitation of apple's. I don't have dictation, but even if I did, I'd still have this app. It really is fast enough to coppy and paste, and still be faster than trying to write out something on the normal keyboard. I look at it as another option to dictation if you have it. Just leave Fleksy open, and if you need to type something, use the app switcher, write out your message, coppy, switch to the app, and paste. I'm glad I gave it a chance. Re: Fleksy
Yup. Like I've said to some before, I think $15 is a tough price point regardless of how great a keyboard is. And trust me, this is great. But, price aside, This is one of the most useful 3rd party apps on my iPhone. There are times when dictation just isn't practical. Like when typing confidential information or, in a loud or subdued environment. I've found that the time it take to copy and paste my text from fleksy is negated because I'm typing up to 50% faster with fleksy than the regular IOS virtual keyboard. JMO. Re: Fleksy
In the paid version, you can use the text for texting, emails, tweets, or anything else in any other app. It does save a lot of time once you get used to it. My wife and I are both now using it, and already our efficiency is probably a good 7-10 times faster. I don't even try to get the right letter, just wild guesses, and it gets it right 90% of the time. Brandon On Aug 18, 2012, at 12:55 PM, Donna Goodin wrote: > Hmm, interesting. Exactly, and I know some are strapped for cash, but I mean, it's $15, and your using an iOS device. $15 is a fast food meal, and then it's gone, this applacation saves you time, for a long time to come. Re: Undo in Mail Doesn't Work Very Well
Hi, I don't believe that it is a bug. If you are using iMap, the Undo will only work if you are extremely quick as once you delete it, the message goes off to the iMap server's Trash area. problem with VO in log on in ML
Hi all, Since upgrading to ML two days ago, Funny things have been happening during log on. First I have to do cmd5 to switch vo on, after waiting for it to kick in for a while. Instead of Samantha (my default) Alex arrives and welcomes me to vo. I have to interact with the dialogue box and then click on a button that is my name. It seems to suggest myself or a guest. Then I am able to put in my password. It then logs in and Samantha starts. I have read the messages from July and have been into the users and logins options in system preferences, but there seems to be only me there and no way of asking it to have vo work or deleting anyone else. I have been in vo utilities and there does not seem to be a checkbox for having vo start automatically prior to log in-which is what I had in lion. Instead the first available setting is about togelling vo with cmd5. Can anyone help me find the setting I need to change as this whole log in process is quite convoluted currently. Re: Fleksy
Hi, Look nobody here cares whether you buy it or not, we're just giving our opinion. We've paid the money and we have the full benefit of our experience using the program in it's full form. But it's ultimately up to you whether you buy it. You're the one going to be using it, and if you don't think it's going to save you time, then you'd be better off spending your money on a really nice, yet very expensive coffee or 2. As I've previously said, I love the program, but I know plenty who either think it's too expensive, or not worth it because they can type on the normal keyboard pretty fast, or use siri or dictate, etc. I wish the program could be built in to the op system, and that we could use it similar to emogi, as a built in keyboard. It would be a better program then, but for now, it's fantastic app, especially if you're typing out long emails or tseeting or txting alot. I love that you can add favourites so they appear on the menu so you can text or email right from the app, and the newest update makes using numbers and punctuation easy. Re: Fleksy
Just want to point out one more thing, in case you didn't know. The great thing is that even if it doesn't guess the right word, you can flick down to get other suggestions. Unless the word isn't in its built-in dictionary, the word you want will most definitely be there. That is why you can just wildly guess, touching somewhere in the general vicinity of the letter but not really carrying how close it is, because that's enough to get the word to come up. Now I'm able to text just as fast, I think, as a sighted user. Did you read the full instructions? That may be useful. Shortcuts for text input
Hi Everyone, I am in the process of adding additional keyboard inputs to my Mac (US Dvorak and US extended), and am curious as to the shortcuts that others use to cycle between inputs. By default, they are command space and command option space, but of course the former conflicts with the VoiceOver spotlight command (not sure about the latter). I would like to be able to efficiently type IPA/unicode, as well as other character sets. THanks advance for any tips! Re: captures and firefox question
Hi, Kirsten, Yes, the current nightly build is very unstable at this point. I might suggest you try it in a few days and see if it's stabilized at all. I jumped the gun a little and hadn't used it in awhile, and it is quite unstable now. It should work to download it from the site. However, be sure the computer recognizes it as a firefox extension. With FF installed, it should recognize it properly. I admit that my current copy is crashing consistently within a couple minutes at this point, but I'm going to keep trying it from time to time. Re: Podcast App for Mac
Hi Marc, There's probably a better way to amend the AppleScripts, but not switching back to iTunes just reflects usage, I think. Originally when I used these AppleScripts, I loaded them into the iTunes AppleScript menu instead of the general AppleScript menu for the System. Specifically, instead of putting the AppleScripts into the folder on my account: ~/Library/Scripts/ I put them into the folder: ~/Library/iTunes/Scripts And I had to create the Scripts folder the first time I added an AppleScript under iTunes to the Library folder under my account. The difference is that when you add scripts under a specific application, you access the scripts menu in the menu bar of that application, while when you add them to the general Library/Scripts folder you access them from the services menu bar (VO-M-M or Control-F8, instead of VO-M or Control-F2), and you can navigate to that menu from any application. I used to run these from iTunes, but some people like to use other applications on their computer while listening to podcasts, iTunes U content, or movies. So I switched the instructions to loading the AppleScripts to the general scripts folder. That way, you don't have to be in iTunes to start and stop the podcast. I think that if you load these and use them under iTunes, using the Scripts menu just before the "Help" menu on the iTunes menu bar (e.g., VO-M then VO-Left arrow twice to the menu), and return to normal speed from there, your focus returns to iTunes. By the way, I realized that I sent you these AppleScripts off list as email attachments about half a year ago! And slightly off topic, I didn't realize your recent viphone "Where To?" app use question was for the iPhone, because the new "pop up" menu design to email destinations only showed up in the latest update -- it wasn't present in the version I have on my iPhone. So the scripts just pass the current position in the track to QuickTime Player, with the speed boost, and then back to iTunes at normal speed, so the track position can be kept. I've used this method for several years. However, it's the older version of QuickTime, which is now dubbed "QuickTime 7", that has the easy access to A/V controls of pitch, speed, etc. that was used for the scripts, and while this still works (and provides different playback options -- all accessible through the GUI with VoiceOver), it's no longer included by default with operating system distributions starting with Lion; you have to download it separately. Re: Fleksy
Hi, You can also add words to the dictionary if you want to by flicking up after you've typed your word. Hi List, It seems that now under Mountain LIon I don't have audio playback of youtube videos and other misc. audio. It may be flash related. Any ideas? Hi, I don't believe that you can tell it to stop but if you select the specific iMap account in the Accounts pane of Mail Prefs, then select Mailbox Behaviours, you can tell Mail to save the messages on the Server and to delete local ones upon Quitting Mail. If I remember correctly, there is a license agreement before you can select the install button. So there should have been a checkbox, saying you agree, to find after you pressed tab once or twice. Re: iTunes Gift Card Question
Jane, Don't know why that happened. I have redeemed two gift cards on my account at separate times, and I had a credit card on the account as well. All purchases came out from the gift card balance before hitting the credit card. The only difference was that I redeemed my card a few days before I purchased anything... just worked out that way... but that should not make a difference. If anyone else knows why this happened, I hope they chime in. Otherwise, I would make a call to Apple on this one. Re: can't ever cut items in Finder?
Hi, The MacOS deals with Finder items differently than Windows and thus the Cut has never been available within the Finder. If you are wishing to "Move" an item from one place to another, simply "Copy" with cmd-c and "Move" it with cmd-option-v. Up until Lion, this option was not available to us, only dragging and dropping moved items from one location to another. Now, as VO Drag and Drop was not always reliable, VO users, for the most part, did not have this functionality. Probably this history lesson is more info than you needed but the School Teacher is coming out in me I guess. Later... Re: Fleksy
I completely agree. This app is fantastic for being able to type in to the IPhone. I truely don't think the people that see the copy and paste into something as a deal breaker truely have not given it a chance. It really does not take more than a few seconds to do that. It takes longer to complain about the idea than it does to do it! I do hope Apple does allow it to be built in, but even if they never do I love this app and it is absolutely worth it. Besides, the copy part takes less than 2 seconds because you bring up the menu and double tap copy. It coppies the entire text. Then you go paste wherever. If you are doing a text message or a new email then you don't even have to do that much. You just double tap that choice from the menu and then address your message and send. Re: can't ever cut items in Finder?
Hi Alex, In Lion and above cutting and pasting files is supported with the "move" option. You select your file or files, copy to clipboard with Command-C, then move them to a new location with Command-Option-V. For earlier version of Mac OS X, we used the "moveAddict" application, which did, indeed, use Command-X to cut and Command-V to paste. That's still an option if you want to purchase it from the Mac App Store. (There is also a free, lite version of moveAddict if you only want to move one file at a time.) I should add that I haven't been using moveAddict in Lion -- only in Snow Leopard -- and I didn't purchase the version from the App Store. So I can't check directly on the App Store experience with this utility. (The developer set up a separate VoiceOver friendly installation that you could download from the web site). I'll paste in the description of pasting files from Mac OS X Hints (July 2011): Source: http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=201107211337186 Lion introduces a long-requested 'copy and move' command in Finder, similar to 'cut and paste' in Windows Explorer. To move files in Finder first press Command+C to copy the selected files, then press Command+Option+V to move the copied files to the current folder. HTH. Re: Fleksy
You don't have to. You can double tap and hold in the edit field until the paste button comes up on the screen. Sometimes the roter is faster though if you don't know where the button is because sometimes swiping to get to it makes it disappear. Re: Fleksy
I bought Fleksy at the full price and think it is worth every cent. I can type as fast as a sighted person on my phone. On my iPad, I can have my fingers spread out like qwerty fashion and go really fast. I wish some smaller words would be ordered differently in the suggestions list (like but) but it's always there. I actually now choose to type on the screen instead of using my bluetooth keyboard. If people are having trouble with it, I suggest just trying to relax and not try to find the letters. Just tap away very roughly in the place you think the letter is, and enjoy it. Lisette On 19/08/2012, at 4:36 PM, James Mannion wrote: > I completely agree.
