safari extensions are awesome
Hi list, I've seen quite a few threads on bugs relative to the recent installation of safari 5. Sorry to read about that, but sometimes clearing display on the console can help a lot. though limited to busy busy or other smaller bugs Otherwise, just installed the youtube safari extension and i'm really liking it and all the other extensions like ad cleaners and all. I've managed to get my webpages to load very closely to instantly with my settings, which probably looks like an 80s darpa version of the internet for sighted people but is a seriously gratifying experience. And they cost on average 9.99 kbs :) Can't wait to see all the other ones coming out or being ported from chrome. A host of problems!
Hi. I downloaded a couple of titles from Audible to listen to on Itunes but need to download the titles again as they are not enhanced format. First of all I can't seem to delete my titles from Itunes and it doesn't matter if I try and do it from the Edit functions. Can anyone tell me how to delete files as I can't seem to delete from Itunes at all and it doesn't matter if I try command delete or do it from the edit menu. This goes for all files within my library. Also when on the audible website in my library there is meant to be a button called download again or redownload but I can't find it so if anyone could help me at all that would be great. Just one more thing which is the titles are laid out in a horrible table so can't seem to navigate it too well. so have problems finding how to download although I do get there eventually. Safari 5 is very sluggish. I'm using audible.co.uk I also have another problem which is I was sent a podcast from someone but can't seem to add it to my itunes library even if I make a new folder such as kawal's podcasts. It won't let me add or it'll say files not found. I can't put files in there if it won't let me move or copy the files in that folder once it's let me create it. However the folder isn't being created either. I want to listen to the podcasts too but i can't do that either as it won't let me open it in windows either. So a host of problems! Kawal. CLISK again
Hi, So, it's time for another annoying problem. I can never seem to get CLISK to work consistently on my Mac. Supposedly, the default Python loaded on Mac OS X works fine, which is also what I have been using for the longest time without issues at all. I accidentally screwed up my Mac and had to reinstall, figuring I wanted to clean up while I was at it instead of just going back to a backup. Now, CLISK isn't working for me. I did check the system requirements just to be certain. The CLisk.Mac file has never actually worked for me whatsoever, so I always force Python into 32-bit manually through Terminal. However, this doesn't seem to make a difference at all now. Even double-checking if the change sticks, it doesn't seem to matter at this point. I used the same solution before, and it worked perfectly back then, so does anyone have a clue? I miss using it. I'm desperate. I've been racking my brain for months now on this. Re: Facebook and Safari 5?
Well, group mode for one thing. Then I can zero in on the feed or the requests or whatever I want. Plus extensive use of the element navigation, particularly the headings, although the lists would also come in handy if I could figure out how to make them work. Item chooser is a huge help as well. FB is just too big to go through item by item. You need to be on top of it and use every weapon in your arsonal. Well, I'm flummoxed. I do make extensive use of the headers. Re: Facebook and Safari 5?
If I want to comment on something I just hit the comment button in the feed for the particular item I want to comment on. I write on walls and such occasionally. I'm not huge into my status though. For me to update it every 12 hours or so with minutia like, "oh feelin great did a bunch of house chores", or "ah feel like crap, got a client cansilation"... never really saw the point in that. I'm just not at the computer enough for that for one thing, and who gives a rip for another. I got to admit, as much as I like some of the people who are on my fb, I'm not entranced by the minutia of their day to day existence enough to dial up facebook and read all about it. Re: Facebook and Safari 5?
I know what you mean, I felt that way for a long time. But a lot of the people I'm friends with on FB live in other states, so now I kind of find it fun to read about what they're doing/thinking/feeling. I feel like it brings me closer to people whose minutia I would otherwise miss out on because of distance. Re: Facebook and Safari 5?
Hi, Either it's me or something else, but i find that finding stuff with Safari is getting increasingly harder, and that's not only on Facebook but in other places as well. Things that should be there just aren't, form fields are suddenly and mysteriously gone, only to reappear in other places. Some elements are only reachable by pressing "tab" others aren't reachable at all. I was trying to add a comment to a post that had 6 other comments using the main site and Safari 5. I found comment fields for other posts allright, but this one... nope nada... and it just struck me that maybe you need to be friends with the one you want to comment to be able to comment? Is it like that? Does anyone else find the news feed on the facebook main site very, very sluggish? /Krister 10 jun 2010 kl. 16.20 skrev clarence griffin: > that's on the home page of your account. its under the chat stuff and all the > nav linnks. should be the first thing there. Ah Grrr. I can get into the box and type no problem. Using the latest safari four, log in to your facebook. Click home. Press control option I to bring up the item chooser. Type min. Arrow down to the what's on your mind edit. Press enter. Now you are there. Go nuts. Type the story of your life. Note that if you have keyboard echo set to words you will get characters in this box whether you like it or not. Good luck submitting. I've been at it since the last message I posted about half an hour ago with routing and mouse clicking and tabbing and anterrring and everything I can think of, but all to no avail. Unless the what's on your mind post shows up in somewhere other than your feed and I'm looking in the wrong place for all the fruit of my labours. having issues with time and voiceover
hi to all i was wondering if anyone could help. a few months back the clocks went forward in the UK but i am unable to change the time on my mac. when i correct the time and click save voiceover freezes for several minutes and eventualy works again. i'm not sure how exactly i get it to work but i do the usual things, e.g. command f5. whenever i restart my computer or turn it off for any reason the time resets to being an hour ahead. this keeps occuring. does anyone have any idea how i can stop this from happening? thanks Liam -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Hey, you're awesome. That actually worked. I think what was throwing me is that when you press Enter to exit the item chooser, the what's on your Mind box disappears, so I didn't realize you could actually start typing. Re: itunes cards
Good morning Donna, I too have had a similar issue. My wife scratched the sticker off of an iTunes gift card and we were unable to read the numbers, which was really disappointing as this was a card for $25. We also tried typing in the serial number, which was not recognized. If anyone has thoughts on how to go about resolving this problem, I'd really appreciate ideas. tia Hai On Jun 9, 2010, at 8:01 PM, Donna Goodin wrote: > Hi all, > > Has anyone ever had problems retrieving the number on an itunes card? Re: having issues with time and voiceover
Hello Liam, It sounds as though your time zone is set incorrectly in System Preferences. Go to the Date and Time pane in System Preferences, and select the second tab, Time Zone. If you navigate right, you'll find a combo box in which you can enter your nearest city. I'm sure London would work just fine. Re: Facebook and Safari 5?
I noticed this morning VO with Safari was having problems seeing the comment link. It would read it, but you coudn't vo spacebar on it. Other than that, the thing about navigating fb is that you just have to let VO take you through all the side bar headings first, then it'll start down the center with everyone's posts. Re: Facebook and Safari 5?
I'm with you Olivia. There seems to be no consistancy with VO and the regular Facebook site. I use the Mobile site myself, but it seems to be very slow at times. Most of the time when I do a VO[ to go back a page, it seems to stall and take forever to back up a page. It would be nice to have a seemlessly functional Facebook page wouldn't it? :) On Jun 10, 2010, at 9:56 AM, Olivia Norman wrote: > I can't get FB to work with safari five, but then again, I didn't like it > much with safari four, either. Re: Facebook and Safari 5?
Donna, I noticed that as well as I tried logging on to the mobile FB site. I rarely use it but just having the option was nice. Ricardo's suggestion about turning curser tracking off to find the "What's On Your Mind" edit box works like a charm! Once there, I move keyboard focus there and type away. VO doesn't speak though but after I am done I am able to listen to what I typed. I have not yet figured out how to correct typos manually. It's still hit or miss, but in recent months I've noticed some features on FB whose labels were not read by VO are now being read. I just tried Eric's suggestion from earlier and seems to have been successful too. Thanks for that idea. Re: Windows Narrator for vm fusion
Hi Ana et al; -Actually just as a quickie clarification, the option key on the Mac replaces the alt key on Windows, so the command key is actually the windows key in this case. So when you're in Windows, the Windows key and alt keys are reversed. I.E. In a Windows environment, from the space bar out to the left, you would have windows key, alt key and control key. Hope this helps and do have a totally amazingly lovely day! There is a problem with the latest version of Fusion. The sound is basically nonexistent. I would either wait for the next version to be fixed, or get a copy of the last version. 3.0 I believe is what it was. Re: Facebook and Safari 5?
Mike If you wish to contact Facebook, I found it best to click on the help center link on any page and find a link on that new page called accessibility. You can fill out a form which includes providing your name, email, and if you use a screen reader you are asked to indicate which one, then type an email. I have previously received an automated response immediately which is then followed by an apparent live person usually within a day. Some times within hours but normally a day. The issue involving VO previously being able to locate the "What's On Your Mind" edit box for me only to suddenly stop recognizing it until I tried some of the suggestions offered by others on this list is an issue FB accessibility has yet to solve but other minor issues I have had were usually solved over time.
