I know what you mean, I felt that way for a long time.  But a lot of the people 
I'm friends with on FB live in other states, so now I kind of find it fun to 
read about what they're doing/thinking/feeling.  I feel like it brings me 
closer to people whose minutia I would otherwise miss out on because of 
distance.
