https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427101 Bug ID: 427101 Summary: Snapping Windows / Quick Tiling will shrink window past minimum width. Product: kwin Version: unspecified Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: model...@outlook.com.au Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Using the window snapping features, windows (such as discord) which set a minimum width can be resized to smaller then their minimum width. When attempting to resize them larger again, it "pops" (just pressing down on the resize with mouse) back out to the minimum size. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Resize window (e.g. Discord) to half the window width on a 720p display (not sure what other applications have minimum widths) OBSERVED RESULT The window pops back out to minimum size. EXPECTED RESULT Either you shouldn't be able to quick tile to smaller than the minimum width, or it should let you resize at values smaller than it. [dolphin] [Bug 427102] New: Shrinking Dolphin window after error causes places panel to become thinner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427102 Bug ID: 427102 Summary: Shrinking Dolphin window after error causes places panel to become thinner Product: dolphin Version: 20.08.1 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: model...@outlook.com.au CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 132000 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=132000&action=edit View of Dolphin after the window has been shrunk. SUMMARY Noticed after messing with https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427100 After the error dialog pops up, when shrinking the window the panels on the left side get shrunk instead. (normally it would stay the same width whilst the inner panel shrinks). After this, the window can no longer be resized any smaller than the width of the text in the error message. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Resize window to a size greater than the length of the error message on one line (maximised works here, anything smaller allows the text to resize properly). 2. Press an unmounted volume, then hit cancel 3. Try to resize the window smaller than the error message box. OBSERVED RESULT The places panel on the left shrinks until it is about ~20px wide, whilst the inner (middle) section does not. Resizing gradually will gradually shrink the "places" panel under it meets a minimum width and you cannot resize the window further. Also, using window snapping to resize width to smaller than the the minimum window width creates an issue where the information panel on the right disappear and the error message + folder pane extends outside the panel borders. EXPECTED RESULT The places panel remains the same size and the error message flows to fit the centre box. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.90 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0 Qt Version: 5.15.1 Kernel Version: 5.8.12-arch1-1 OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz Memory: 7.6 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 530 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Configure Icons-Only Task Manager to use "clicking grouped task: show tooltip window thumbnails" 2. Hover a particular window using your mouse, then use Win+n keys to select other windows. OBSERVED RESULT (first part of the attachment) A window with one window open hovered, pressing win+n will move the preview box between the designated positions. If a window with multiple windows open has been hovered, pressing win+n will result it staying open as the same window in the same position, despite the button for other windows being pressed. (second part of the attachment) Various strange behaviours occur if you move your mouse around, though it's difficult to see what exactly caused it. EXPECTED RESULT Pressing Win+N should always highlight the Nth windows, not the currently hovered window. [plasmashell] [Bug 424268] Tooltips with selectable window thumbnails never receive key keyboard focus, even when activating grouped task with Meta+[number] keyboard shortcut
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424268 --- Comment #17 from Mathew --- Testing this out on 5.19.90, the functionality of "cycles through tasks" exist as an option for "clicking group task" in the icons-only task manager settings. This creates the desired *behaviour* for when Win+N clicking. However, this does not show window tooltips with Win+N. It does, however, do this when hovering over with the mouse. This creates almost the ideal behaviour (for me, some people might prefer the textual list instead of window tooltips) I was thinking that maybe this setting could be broken up into two options: - "preview/hover display": tooltips, or textual list this would appear when win+n is *pressed*, but maybe not when the mouse is pressed (since it will already do so for hovering) - "keyboard press": cycle through windows, present windows effect, textual list, tooltips - "mouse click": cycle through windows, present windows, textual list, tooltips (the last two could possibly collapse into one another, but I have different preferences for keyboards vs mouse clicking... so I'd prefer not). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Use mpv, along with "," and "." to step through frame by frame. SUMMARY When moving the mouse between categories in kicker, it takes ~0.25s to switch between them. This delay is very noticeable. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424268 Bug ID: 424268 Summary: Opening application with multiple existing windows annoying UX Product: plasmashell Version: 5.19.3 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Reporter: model...@outlook.com.au CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 130154 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=130154&action=edit The Observed Result SUMMARY The current UX for switching between windows of an already open application requires use of the mouse and typing hides open windows. Apologies if this is filed in the wrong location or if it is already filed somewhere else. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open two windows of an application (say, Okular) 2. Press on the icon or use the shortcut for "activate task manager entry 1" OBSERVED RESULT See the "observed-window-switcher.png" attachment. The windows open up in the full screen view. Pressing keys does not select windows but instead activates the filter, which makes the windows disappear. This makes for an irritating experience when you have multiple windows open and you are switching between them using the win+n shortcuts, as you constantly have to use your mouse. EXPECTED RESULT [These are my thoughts and not necessarily the only thing I'd be comfortable with having; I would prefer something other than the current solution] As in [1], which opens when you hover over the icon, the two existing windows pop up. This could be what pops up and pressing the same key again would cycle through the open windows, selecting each one in turn. Similar to how windows does it. I would prefer if one of the application windows is already focused that it first switches to the unopen one, rather than reopening the existing one. [plasmashell] [Bug 424268] Opening application with multiple existing windows annoying UX
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424268 --- Comment #3 from Mathew --- Based off the initial description, I don't think that this bug is a duplicate bug. I do not want *all* the windows to be maximised when pressing the window, I want to be able to easily switch between open windows (similar to the Alt+` shortcut) without having to deal with the two window full screen view popup. You can see this functionality in Windows - open up two windows, and pressing on the win+n shortcut will open up a small window preview. Pressing win+n again will cycle through the open windows. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 424268] Opening application with multiple existing windows annoying UX
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424268 --- Comment #5 from Mathew --- I am aware of Alt+tilde. What I would look is for this to be available for when pressing Win+N on an app. Say if I have Dolphin open, then press Win+N to open Firefox. Rather than opening the full screen view, a smaller view (a la Windows or when hovering over the icon) of which the available windows can be chosen by pressing Win+N more times. This is not achievable through Alt+tilde, as this would require Firefox to be initially focused. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[systemsettings] [Bug 430493] New: Pop-out Settings Window
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430493 Bug ID: 430493 Summary: Pop-out Settings Window Product: systemsettings Version: 5.20.4 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: model...@outlook.com.au Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Currently, the System Settings app is a singleton. This means that multiple settings windows open will all change the single open app, and hence prevent multiple pages being opened at once. This can occasionally be useful, e.g. when looking at the Displays page and another at the same time (or just leaving it open because you want to come back to it later, then needing to edit another setting). Having the ability to "pop out" certain kcmshells into a separate window (independent of the status of the main settings windows - open or not) would allow these to stay open. This used to be possible when searching for certain options through the Start Menu would open just the window and not settings @ that window. (Alternatively, System Settings could be not a singleton, but I'm unsure how this would work if you had multiple pages open at once that edit similar files / how that would work / if it would work at all) SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.77.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.9.14-arch1-1 OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz Memory: 7.6 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 530 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[systemsettings] [Bug 430522] New: Re-add the ability do disable applications from autostarting
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430522 Bug ID: 430522 Summary: Re-add the ability do disable applications from autostarting Product: systemsettings Version: 5.20.4 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: minor Priority: NOR Component: kcm_autostart Assignee: nicolas.fe...@gmx.de Reporter: model...@outlook.com.au CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY For Plasma 5.20 the Autostart KCM was rewritten - https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-desktop/-/merge_requests/31. As part of this, the ability to disable certain applications from autostart was removed, and instead, you can only remove them entirely. However, this creates an issue with applications (e.g. Microsoft Teams) that will recreate the autostart shortcut every launch, and do not allow you to turn that feature off in the app. These apps will need to be removed every start. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open an app (e.g. Microsoft Teams) that creates an autostart shortcut 2. Remove it using the KCM 3. Open the app again, it gets added back OBSERVED RESULT App will again start on startup. EXPECTED RESULT App will never start on startup. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430968 --- Comment #2 from Mathew --- I could see why this happens if there was Dinner & Discord, but I don't understand why when the first letters remain the same. and re: the second point; no. I tend to hit `D` then `i` quickly together (using both hands), and the list loads, then I hit s with my left hand and hit enter with my right, slightly afterwards.
