Fwd: Import problem - Spanish (es) - orca in gnome-orca trunk

2016-02-17 Thread Joanmarie Diggs
Hey all.

I was planning to do the Orca release this morning (yeah, I know it's
late, sorry!!). But I received this automated notification. Is this
something we can fix prior to the release?

Hello Joanmarie,

On 2016-02-16 23:20z (7 hours 52 minutes ago), you uploaded a file with
Spanish (es) translations for orca in gnome-orca trunk to Launchpad.

We were unable to import the file because of errors in its format:

Line 13: Invalid content: u', 2015.'

If you use gettext, you can check your file for correct formatting with
the 'msgfmt -c' command. Please fix any errors raised by msgfmt and
upload the file again. If you check the file and you don't find any
error in it, please look for an answer or file a question at
https://answers.launchpad.net/rosetta/

For your convenience, you can get the file you uploaded at:
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/239473636/es.po

Thank you,

The Launchpad team

Re: Import problem - Spanish (es) - orca in gnome-orca trunk

2016-02-17 Thread Rafael Fontenelle
Joanmarie,

The file you uploaded to Launchpad has two syntax problemas:
1- Line 13, ", 2015."
2- Line 16, ", 2016"

Just move them up, appending to the previous lines (12 and 15) and this
problem is fixed.

For your information, run "msgfmt -cvo /dev/null .po" to get
detailed information of statistics (translated, fuzzy, not translated) and
syntax errors in which line.

Cheers,
Rafael Fontenelle

Hi Joanmarie,

>From time to time, Launchpad generates this kind of errors with Spanish
translations, but GNOME's git doesn't say anything about it, and msgfmt
check also says nothing about it.

Maybe Launchpad uses an old version osf gettext package or they are having
problems with the imported files, but translations pass my local checks
properly, and seem to be working on GNOME.

Can you use the GNOME's repo file instead of the Launchpad's one?

Best regards

2016-02-17 Thread Joanmarie Diggs
Hi Rafael (and Daniel).

For whatever it may be worth, and contrary to what the automated email
suggests, *I* didn't upload any files. Someone else apparently set
something up and Launchpad sends me the notifications. Yay technology.
;) If I can just ignore this notification as a non-problem, great.

That said: Rafael points out syntax problems; I am not a translator.
Daniel, what say you?

Re: Import problem - Spanish (es) - orca in gnome-orca trunk

2016-02-17 Thread Ask Hjorth Larsen
Hi

I think Daniel was referring to the files in GNOME being accepted in
GNOME but not necessarily in Launchpad due to different rules. But
this specific file has real syntax errors and would not be accepted
anywhere: Two lines that were supposed to be part of a comment are
not. Probably some non-syntax-aware editor decided to insert line
breaks.

Best regards

For what it's worth, I get these results in Debian Testing with gettext
0.19.7 which is the latest version as far as I can see:

$ msgfmt -c es.po
es.po:13:2: syntax error
msgfmt: found 1 fatal error

2016-02-17 Thread Daniel Mustieles García
Have no access to my Debian laptop at this momment, and Ubuntu has an older
version of gettext package, but the script I use to upload translations
(ran under Debian Testing) runs an msgfmt check before uploading, and it
didn't shouted any error... don't know why.

Anyway, this syntax error has been present since several years ago, but it
never was a problem (maybe because gettext didn't take care of it). Don't
if it's due a bug in Gtranslator, Damned Lies or where, but I'm sure this
same error will be present in (so much) other PO files.

Joanmarie: To quickly override it for now, please fix it yourself and use
it to create the package.

Any idea about how to determine where this bug is produced and how to fix
it? I'm CC'ing Gtranslator's maintainer as maybe he could give us a hand.

Cheers!

When I use msgfmt as described, I don't get a syntax error.

Copying weird email address from D-L

I oftenly send emails to members of my language team in D-L. I can copy
this email from his account page. The email is displayed with "at" and

Is it intentional to not make it copyable, or file a bug report?

Yes, this is intentional and a (light?) way of preventing robots from
