[Bug 779359] [NEW] Color Themes Inconsistent Using GTK2-Engines
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gtk2-engines The color schemes for GTK2 under Unity (and possibly before Unity, under Gnome) are inconsistent. I have included two screenshots to show the problem. Both are of K9Copy using the same exact color scheme/theme. The first is opening K9Copy after applying the color scheme, the second is opening K9Copy and then applying the theme in "appearances". As can obviously be seen the results are dramatically different, in the first case letters are not visible at all and the theme is unusable, the second case the image is clear and text is the color it is supposed to be. [Bug 723458] Re: libgtk2 2.24.0 break Lotus Notes user interface
Hi Soren, do you have any technical proof on the wrong usage of GTK+ in Lotus Notes ? I work for IBM and I could raise an internal defect regarding this as our internal Ubuntu users are also being hit by this. Lotus of course supports only LTS releases and having to push a breakage fix that is due to some new upstream GTK+ features is rather hard to do, but if we can build a case that this is would give a performance boost and actually is an incorrect usage on their part could increase the priority - Lotus guys are very much aware of performance of Lotus Notes. [Bug 773908] Re: Evolution - after upgrading Ubuntu 11.04 could not send receive emails on pop3 / imap
Let me add additional observations: this seems to be at least partially a gnome issue. Ignoring hosts in proxy settings doesn't seem to work at all and any changes I make to proxy settings in some apps (chromium, synaptic) are applied globally when I tell it not to. Upon further inspection, choosing to change proxy settings in these apps opens the system proxy dialog. This being the case, it is necessary to set system proxy to Direct Internet Connection, start Evolution, then reset the proxy settings whenever I restart Evolution. In my case it's not a big deal since I run Evolution 24/7 and only restart it after a reboot. [Bug 779446] [NEW] The "mute volume" multimedia key always has it's light on
You have been subscribed to a public bug: After logging in to my account on Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal the mute button will always have it's light on, as if to say that the volume is in the "mute" mode. When starting to play a sound or a song, the light will go off and play the song/ sound but will immediately come back on after the sound/ music has stopped. This bug was not in Ubuntu 10.10. I'm on an HP nc6400 laptop. Pressing mute on and off will put the light out for less than a second before it comes back on again. The volume is unaffected by the light, so it only appears to be the light at fault. Sometimes after playing music/ a sound for a while the light seems to get the idea and stay off, but not always. Also, I'm a bit of a linux noob. ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: light multimedia volume -- The "mute volume" multimedia key always has it's light on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/779446 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 779509] [NEW] keyboard layout settings not remembered
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon Ubuntu 11.04 (natty) Kernel 2.6.38-8-generic (#42-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 11 03:31:50 UTC 2011) Gnome 2.32.1 (Ubuntu 2011-04-14) gnome-settings-daemon 2.32.1-0ubuntu13.1 Description: the keyboard layout settings, when changed to new defaults in a session, is not remembered across reboots. Upon reboot, it will revert back to the original defaults as if it had not registered/saved the changes in settings. Originally, my purpose was to suppress the indicator by removing the additional keyboard layout that was added at installation. I really use only one layout: fr_CH and therefore I don't need this keyboard switch indicator in the tray. Behavior is normal when I suppress the unused keyboard by removing it using the indicator or control center: upon removing the unused keyboard, the indicator disappears from the tray and the layout is fr_CH fine. But when I reboot, these settings are not remembered, and I have to do this all over again in order for this indicator not to show up in the tray. Notes: - this bug appeared in Maverick - other methods described for disabling the indicator (such as creating a disable key in gconf /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/general/ ) do not work or cure the problem. [Bug 745556] Re: nautilus ssh connection after suspend to ram - browsing location lost
Wow.. something has changed in Nautilus! Maybe I am on a new version? It says "2.30.1". Now the remote ssh tabs no longer close after suspend-to-ram. [Bug 779639] [NEW] gnome screensaver activation is hindered by unobscure routine
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver The problem occurs in Natty, using the Unity desktop. I have not tried the old-style desktop to see if it also affects that. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=649755 I have reported upstream a bug in Gnome Screensaver that is preventing my screensaver from activating during session timeout. The symptom is that the session times out, the screen fades to black, and then immediately returns to the desktop. The symptoms are similar to Bug #241206 and Bug #363635, but the cause is different than those bugs. Summary of upstream bug report: The problem is caused in gs-manager.c by the function window_obscured_cb. This function is called when the screensaver window is obscured (i.e., when fast user switching swaps to another VT) or unobscured (i.e., switching back to the VT). In addition to attempting to disable or re-enable the screensaver animation, when the screensaver is unobscured the callback automatically makes a request to unlock the screen. This saves the user from having to press a key or wave their mouse around to bring up the unlock dialog. My problem is that, for reasons I do not understand, my screensaver thinks, every time it activates due to session timeout, that its window is obscured briefly. window_obscured_cb is called twice in rapid succession, once for obscure, then again for unobscure. Because I do not use the screensaver lock feature, this means that, on the unobscure call, the screensaver is deactivated. Thus, my screensaver will never activate due to a session timeout. I have verified that the obscured window event is the reason for the screensaver deactivation using the debugging output. I have attached a patch in the upstram bug report that fixes the problem by removing the line that calls the screensaver unlock automatically as a result of an unobscure event. ** Affects: gnome-screensaver Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver + + The problem occurs in Natty, using the Unity desktop. [Bug 284443] Re: gdmsetup: Don't offer autologin for ecryptfs users
Robert: does this mean that bug 753707 was introduced? It seems that autologin now does not work when .ecryptfs is present in the $HOME directory of the user to be autologged in. If I can add my two cents, that seems to be a bit unfortunate, because now gdm does not ask me for password anyway (it just wants me to select myself as the user to be logged in) so the encrypted directory is not mounted anyway and autlogin does not work either. There is a README in my Private directory that reads as follows: THIS DIRECTORY HAS BEEN UNMOUNTED TO PROTECT YOUR DATA. >From the graphical desktop, click on: "Access Your Private Data" or >From the command line, run: ecryptfs-mount-private Why don't we change it so something like this (I am not a native speaker so the English might be dubious, I am not sure if autlogin can be made into a verb) : THIS DIRECTORY HAS BEEN UNMOUNTED TO PROTECT YOUR DATA. This may be because you were autologged in and thus did not enter your password. >From the graphical desktop, click on: "Access Your Private Data" or >From the command line, run: ecryptfs-mount-private -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284443 Title: gdmsetup: Don't offer autologin for ecryptfs users -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
