Richard (Erlacher)

C::B can support just about anything you can find a compiler for and
will do so under both Windoz and Linux.

Crikey, it can even be recompiled to run on a HP hppa machine with HP's
bastardised Unix (with a little effort) and has proven to be a very good
IDE on that, covering the cracks in the supplied
compiler/linker/simulator toolset pretty well.

Learn to use the make file capabilities to their best advantage and
you'll be very satisfied with the results.
And as Jose has pointed out, if you're a dyed-in-the-wool Windoz user
then batch files can also be utilised with it (after all, batch files
are really only crippled versions of *nix shell scripts).

Even though many more than your preferred mcu are included, download &
install FreeRTOS on your Windoz box just to get the WinAVR make files.
Quite illuminating for a Windoz user, not as much use for *nix.

Surely you can download, install and try out tools like C::B, FreeRTOS,
WinAVR etc without too much expense?
