OK, so I got Fedora 5, chew nails for a hour or so the installation lasted...  
The boot manager it installed doesn't contain the previously installed Ubuntu 
(on a different partition), displaying only Win as "Other" (it's more than 
ridiculous). OK I can try to get sorted this out later. Let's try the freshly 
installed Fedora - starts up to "Welcome to Fedora Core", then "Setting 
clock...OK", then " Starting udev:" where it freezes.

Now what?

OK I don't really expect help through his forum - it really does not belong 
here. I am just trying to point out that the effort to start contributing to 
SDCC might be more than  prospective developers might be willing to spend. This 
makes me to think on a "prechewed" development package again... If I only would 
know, HOW...

OK, plan B. Could I somehow hack out those missing LaTeX packages for lyx from 
the Fedora DVD?
