OK I can try to get sorted this out later. Could I somehow hack out those missing LaTeX packages for lyx > from the Fedora DVD? > If I understand well, you want to install Fedora packages on Ubuntu? I'm skeptic about that: - I don't know if the RPM (un)packager exists on FC. You can try to run the following command from the terminal window: rpm --version if the answer is "command not found", you are out of luck... - even if you can unpack the package from the FC distribution, it probably requires different versions of libraries then those installed on Ubuntu, and you are again out of luck... - and other 1000 things can go wrong, not to mention all of them... If you have such big problems, it wold be probably better to go back to Windows and install LyX from ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/bin/1.4.4/lyx-144-4-bundle.exe and get the MiKTeX DVD image from the BitTorrent, as described at http://www.miktex.org/CD/mddvdr.aspx. I hope that this two packages include everything you need. I'm even not sure if you need MiKTeX at all if you want just to edit the .lyx document. MiKTeX is required to convert the document to other formats (pdf, txt, html, ...). So I recommend to first load and install the LyX package. I you can edit the .lyx document, then you have what you need ;-) I wish you good luck, Borut ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
