this is quite outdated. A link there points to http://home.fnal.gov/~jamieson/cygwin.html which says, among other things, to install cygwin the normal way. E.g. I hate to think what would happen to file permissions and user privileges if you just copy the Cygwin tree to another computer. The solution I propose can be made into 1-click installation, (installing cygwin with a prescribed set of cygwin "modules", one of them Sage, very much like basic cygwin installation) would not imply or involve vomit, and would be something supported by cygwin folks.
