Hello folks,

this is alpha1, a couple hours later than I wanted, but than a bunch
of things got in the way during the day. Sources are in the usual
place at

http://sage.math.washington.edu/home/mabshoff/release-cycles-3.1.3/sage-3.1.3.alpha1.tar

What is new in alpha1:

 * Robert Bradshaw: more new coercion merges (causes speed regression
in sr.py by about 40%, but since that sucks anyway we can bear with it
a little longer until Robert fixes it)
 * William Stein, Craig Citro: optimize fast computation of hecke
eigenvalues on weight 2 modular symbols for gamma0 (#3502)
 * Craig Citro: Speed up totally real field enumeration code (#4155)
 * Michael Abshoff: Solaris fixes galore - we are one inch away from
it building out of the box on Skynet. Two more spkgs to go which did
not make it due to need for sleep they will be in 3.1.3.alpha1. If you
are for some details check out
http://wiki.sagemath.org/solaris/solaris/sage-3.1.3
 * Mike Hansen: magic pexpect logging switch (#4180) - export
SAGE_PEXPECT_LOG=yes and all pexpect traffic will be logged to
$SAGE_DOT/pexpect_logs

Coming in alpha2: upgrades for clisp, Maxima, mpfr, scons and merge of
various patches. 3.1.3.final should happen early this weekend since
3.1.3 was supposed to be a quick release and 3.2 will follow with
pynac!

Cheers,

Michael
