Sorry for replying to myself: Since the pain with latex2html is growing: Is there any volunteer who would like to attempt to build the Sage reference manual (and the tutorial etc.) using e.g. plastex properly? If this fails a report of ultimate failure would also be useful: the information that it is still way too buggy to deal with the Sage docs.
