And now I have added a whole C subnet from
netname: CHINANET-GX
descr: CHINANET Guangxi province network
descr: China Telecom
since individual IPs from there opened 100+ simultaneous connections.
After blocking individual IPs they started moving around, so the
sledge hammer method of blocking 222.217.19.0/24 did the trick. All
that traffic seems directed toward the wiki and I regularly delete a
dozen+ accounts from the wiki that are created from that IP space.
If there is any more slowdown please drop by in IRC and let me know.
At this point I will no longer hesitate, but start dropping Chinese or
Indian subnets at the first sign of trouble. I am just tired of
spammers. Since all the mirrors keep working people from those subnets
can just use those mirrors.
Cheers,
Michael
