Well, they included them in powertools because it is something
widely wanted, but which didn't meet the license guidelines for
OS inclusion.  Now that it is GPL, that is different.

Oh, agreed definitely.  So long as 2.4 comes out at least a month
or two prior to the next redhat release, it should be fine to use
it.  I'm sure it'll be included.

That I didn't know.  It'll need to support lots more cards for
redhat to include it, or else they'll need to put XFree 3.x.x and
4.x.x.

I doubt they'll do that though because it would make installation
choice overly complex.  Better to stick with 3.x.y if 4.x.y isn't
ready.
