certainly MySQL has speed benifits over many databases, the
lack of features is what makes this possible, although features
such as triggers, transactions and sub queries are in the pipeline..

I think the bottom line is, if you wish to simply put information 
into and out of a database then MySQL is worth a look, if you need
triggers, transactions etc then possibly a move to postgres and
if you need more than this you may be best with Oracle.
