Wow, really? Great! I hadn't heard... (I must be too busy lately
for my regular trip off to slashdot:)

We use mysql EXTENSIVELY around here, it really is brilliant. The
fact that it isn't integrated into redhat packages by default (eg,
apache, php) is a right PITA for us.
I'd very much like to voice my absolute entheusiasm for including
mysql support right into the main distribution!

Don't know about gnome/kde interfaces, but the default one that
comes with mysql itself does an excellent job (even if
console-based rather than gui), and the perl-mysql dbm interface
modules for it just slip in there and work like a dream. (Yes,
please include the perl modules as part of the main mysql
installation).
Now with encryption laws a bit easier, pgp/gpg/ssh will be in there
by default too now for all us bad-guy-like "foreigners" :)
The next release of redhat is looking way cool for features,
especially if it has a 2.4.x kernel and XFree86-4.x...
Cheers
Tony
