Hi John A 26 year old pump?   I’m going out on a limb here but I think that’s could be your issue.  I know that transformers make all sorts of crazy noise if the hz are not in spec.  If the pump wasn’t operating at the correct rpm ( bearings or whatever causing resistance) could that cause the issue you’re having? Or maybe it’s some kind of harmonics again due to wear/age? You checked the basics the only thing that is a constant is the water well /pump (12 A is fine ) either w/ the T former or the grid, OR the plumbing to the tank. Removing the pipe at the pressure tank is easiest and @ -12 here is the warmest option.
