Sorry, my previous post went out prematurely.

The question is: how bad is the noise?  I’ve heard buzzing to some degree
or another from most transformers. Is the noise level the same without any
covers in place?

Pumps lose efficiency over time. Could the pump be drawing more power?  If
there has been regularly service pump efficiency should have been logged.
