Way back then they had just developed the "PV Safe" button, which if I recall was essentially just a software feature. I remember giving a seminar with Brooks in audience - he was very intrigued and said that this side feature was probably more important than any of the other whiz bang stuff that we were trying to promote. I think this was right around the time when RSD was first being discussed. The irony is stinging me now that I was, and I must admit still am, a proponent of finding some way to safely de-energize panels/arrays (just not with a piece of plastic junk). While APsystems denies any kind of infringement and complies with Sunspec RSD requirements, to avoid the expenses and inconvenience of litigation, APsystems has agreed on the settlement with Tigo under which APsystems obtains a license to use Tigo's rapid shutdown technology. The licensed technology is the same as the 6 patents that Tigo disclosed to Sunspec in 2017. APsystems will continue to deliver leading edge RSD solutions to its customers.
