Thanks for the reply. The use of the compression EMT connectors still requires a threaded hub to be considered rain-tight. These do not solve the problem of how to connect PVC conduit to a plastic box, maintain rain-tight status and avoid introducing a metallic fitting that requires bonding. I was hoping to learn about a new fitting to solve this problem.

One of my wholesalers claims the use of a sealing locknut on a standard PVC male adapter is considered raintight. I am skeptical. Does anyone know if this assertion is backed with code language?

Sorry, that first link was for a coupling. Here is a connector link:

William,

See: <http://www.arlcatalog.com/EMT/EMT%20Rain%20Tight%20Compression%20Couplings.htm>http://www.arlcatalog.com/EMT/EMT%20Rain%20Tight%20Compression%20Couplings.htm

These fittings are nice because the steel is tinted blue to help assure that installers don't use non-listed fittings.

When I referred to "wet-loc" I simply meant an EMT compression coupling specifically labeled for use in wet locations. The particular connector I have in front of me has "WET LOC" printed on it. San Francisco code officials check to make sure that the fittings we use outdoors are listed for use in wet locations.

I am familiar with the Myers hubs. My question was referring to the "wet-loc" connector you alluded to. Who makes those?

Who manufactures these connectors? Do you have a part number?

Marco:

Don't forget that if you do not have splices in an outdoor J box, and if your wire is wet location rated, you are not required to use Nema 3R boxes and fittings.

Marco,

Interesting question. May I ask why you want to use a Myers hub rather than a standard wet-loc outdoor connector?

My understanding is that Myers hubs are used for weatherproofing and bonding (when used with a metal box) because the inside nut is serrated. See NEC 250.92(B)(2) and 314.15(A).

Anyone agree or disagree with me?
