Funny this subject came up -- we just had two terminals in the AC terminal block of a VFX spin out before reaching the 30 in/lb spec.   OutBack customer support has been great so far -- they're sending us a new replacement.  Personally, I've never used the torque screwdriver on the OB AC terminals.  I just trust my wrist.  Another tech (NABCEP) in our shop tried to take them to spec, and this is what happened.  It's a double stacked system, and the other inverter's terminals reached the torque spec just fine.  Seems like a faulty terminal block.  Is the torque spec too high?  30 in/lb is a lot for small terminals like that.

Reviewing Outback and Xantrex manuals, screw terminals are torqued between 14 and 35 inch pounds on these electronic devices.  This should help your search for the proper tool.

We have a great torque wrench for snugging down module clamps, Sharp SRS bolts, etc. What do folks use to insure that wire terminals are torqued to spec? We’re talking 1.1 to 3.3 N-m (10-30 in-lbs). I’m imagining something compact like an over-sized screwdriver.
