I've used (mostly in 3rd world installations) the Contico pro tuffbin for batteries.

they're almost sealed (not gasketed) structural foam boxes, will hold 4 L-16 equivalents, and are about $60 each.

the only downside is that the sides are slightly tapered toward the bottom, and as such need a flexible or bent piece of conduit to make the wiring connections. when you get more than 2 of them, they can take up a lot of space too.

I get them from Fleet Farm (regional chain) or Lowes'.

they're what I'm going to use on my own upcoming backup system.

US Plastics sells many many sizes of poly and fiberglass containers. They
have an extensive website and will even custom make boxes if you order a
quantity of them. Perhaps a joint effort of all who need thwm if they
don't have the proper size.

Hi Larry,

Would you mind sharing any info you get? I'm building a solar trailer and
need two boxes sized to fit four L-16 each. I'll forward copies of any
battery box resources I come across in return.

Thanks.

Dan

Greetings Wrenches,

I need to find a supplier of polyethylene battery boxes for
small batteries. 2,4 or 6 golf cart batteries will need to
fit in several different configurations. Also for two or
four L-16's. Contact me if you know of any manufacturers
or distributors for such products.

Kindest Regards,

Larry Crutcher
