Those 
guys recommended a wider tire due to loose gravel.
 I agree with Gabe... take those fenders off and fit the widest tires that 
will fit. That side of the Cascades is normally dry and dusty.
There is not a lot of climbing in that section so you're gearing will be 
fine.
