Michael,
I am starting slow. No sit ups. Mostly balancing workouts. trying to hold 
my hips stable by using my abs. It all seems pretty simple, but after a few 
minutes, I realize how I have not been using these muscles. Also, because 
the majority of my exercise has been on the bike, my stability has gone to 
hell. I am going to work on this, 3 days a week, and only ride short rides 
mostly in easy spin mode. I want to get back to enjoying riding in the 
hills ( 60 miles has always been my favorite distance) and this is my 
vehicle to getting back to being able to accomplish this.
