My Quickbeam, & I think yours too, will handle a 10T gear difference.
When I was choosing my gearing I started with the fixed gear we used back in
The Day, a 42X16T gear (45X17T is the same gear inches).
(We used this because nearly everyone had 42/52or53 rings, and a 16T cog
gave a 70 inch gear. This was big enough to give us some relatively gentle
aerobic workout and allowed us to use occasional big rpm spins that we
supposed to be good for 'suppless.')

What I ended up with, to get as much gear spread as possible out of the 10T
difference built into the Quickbeam, was 39/45 chainrings, then 17-19/21T
flip/flop on my free wheel, and a 17-21/23T flip/flop. The 17-19T cog is a
White Industries Duo, and the 17-21T cog is a Surly Dingle. The 21T freecog
was the largest I could find.

So with my free wheel on 28mm tires I have gears of 70-63-55-50. On my fixed
wheel 70-61-57-50-45

I don't care where my rear wheel is in the dropouts as long as it IS fully
in the dropouts, the chain is snug, and the wheel is centered in the
chainstays.
