As people have pointed out, there are valid reasons for wanting the undertube and there are valid reasons for not wanting the undertube. I think it basically comes down to this: If you like it, get it and if you don't like it, don't get it. That may sound too simple but you are one who is going to be riding it and why spend that much money on something you don't love? If not, save your pennies and get the AHH.
Is there someone in your area who has one so you can see it in person? take it for a spin? That might make the decision for you.
