Agreed - and wider fenders have better coverage for that width tire as well. Just placed an order for wider fenders. BUT... I haven't had any rubbing. All kinds of riding, too. I swapped out the Cols for Hetres and figured I'd have to strip the fenders to make them fit, but they did and I've been riding them for, what, six months?
In any case, the wider tires are on their way - but not because the tires wouldn't work with the 45s... more because I just love installing fenders.
