I have seen lots of companies move overseas and their products get
BETTER. I don't care where the stuff is made, when there is cheaper
labor companies tend to put a fair bit of that increased margin back
into the product. Look at a backpack made 20 years ago compared to the
same model today made in China, or Vietnam, or where ever. The Asian
pack blows the socks of the usa made pack in every category; more
features, better fabric, better construction. Look inside a pair of
decent pants today at the kind of finishing work INSIDE the pants,
that would never/ could never happen without cheaper labor-- and not
always cheap or unfair labor-- just cheaper than a "first world
country". The companies that hold out, that try to keep keep making
their products here or in Europe are the products that often get
returned to the store or to the company. I have heard more than a few
buyers say that they wished these hold outs would move to asia so
their products would stop falling apart. True for everybody? of course
not-- but more true than most people would like to admit.

So Rapha makes some stuff in China. They probably have good profit
margins. But I'd be willing to bet it's as well made as anything else
out there. People in other countries can make stuff just as nicely
(and sometimes nicer) than here, there, or anywhere.

Rapha is a designer company and arent there always premiums on
designer products-- or are those Prada shoes really worth $5000. If
you dont want it, dont buy it.

Cheers!
