They've been creating a lot of bike lanes around where we live in Fremont, CA. All over the bay area they've been painting them green to increase awareness. That's been really nice. They have also put in protected areas in places with high congestion. I like them. Traffic keeps getting worse around here and in areas like the BART station parking entrance, people will enter the bike lane with cars 100's of yards early causing congestion for bikes too. The plastic posts in those areas have done a nice job of deterring that behavior. I say bring them on, strategically anyway.
