Justins title claims to be looking for "the EASIEST way to transport a bike
on Southwest"

If that's what Justin is actually focussed on, then I'd call Southwest and
find out what they have to say about it.

If the real objective is to determine "the easiest way to transport a
bicycle from Oakland, CA to Los Angeles, CA", then that's a longer list:

1. Find somebody driving an empty van from Oakland to LA. Put your bike
in the back of that empty van.
2. Drive to LA with your bike. Stop along the way in various awesome
places.
3. Box your bike and put it on Amtrak (as others recommended)
4. Box your bike and have BikeFlights deliver it (as others have
recommended, to which I'll add: pay $30 for $3000 insurance)
5. If you go Bike Flights, ship it to a shop, and call the shop ahead of
time.
