I would use bike flights. i travel frequently and this is how my Riv 
accompanies me. If you check it on the flight, TSA can open up and inspect 
and my experience with this is they NEVER get it closed up properly. I 
don't trust them.

Bike Flights uses FedEx and you can select a FedEx Office location to ship 
it to "hold for pickup"
